I think I prefer to think you and I are doing something right:D. I blow occasionally since I would scarp the screen with a SSV pick or some similar thing. I would blow if I am lazy but that isn't often. Remember I use the solo in the house so there is no need to do it. I wonder if that is the reason but I still would rather stick with the former if you don't mind.

Dreamerr, my stock stem gets cloudy as well near the mouthpiece end. Golden like michaels up until half an inch past the bend, after that its cloudy, and a bit cracked up like dried dirt if you look really closely. I think that it is just the beginning of the oil buildup, particles tend to clump together more often than to new surfaces, so I think its just a matter of time before that clouding builds up into gold itself.

As to why yoshis stem doesnt cloud like yours or mine, I can only imagine it depends on the moisture content and quality of your herb, and maybe the fact that his screen is letting particulates through and its disrupting the even buildup of oil? Ah thats a bit far, but possible. I use a 325 mesh screen so nothing gets through, like yours.

On another thought, do you blow through your stem at the end of sessions to get all the little bits remaining out of the screen? (because i know i do after i dump the abv). If so, its possible the humidity from our breaths, or maybe even saliva particles are gathering in there and that is what is causing the clouding. Yoshi, any input on if you do this or not?
I blow through mine to clear it everytime & mine looks exactly like what you are describing (except on the straight stem). I really don't think you are that far off with the particulate disturbing the vapor theory though, I also use a fairly fine screen. I wonder if anyone who doesn't use a screen could weigh in on if their stem gets cloudy near the mouthpiece.

I agree clouded and forgot to say, but I think rcflo is right about the particulates as well hence us doing something right.

My friends call me "Menz"
ok anyone waiting on my test with the stock stem of the solo and the pinnacle WT "milk" test....... it was a fail. i was able to "cloud" up the tool a bit more on 7 than 5 but it still was not a "milky" cloud. i agree with stu... great tool but not able to be milked due to size. no matter..... it's still a great tool for what i got it for.

no lol. I read a while back of someone putting it in their coffee. so I as a DAILY coffee drinker. EASY. Step 1, brew coffee regular, STEP 2, put the coffee in the microwave for 2 minutes so it's kinda boiling. STEP 3, put your stem in your cup, I let it sit for a minute or two then added cream. It's amazing for you coffee drinkers out there. Now I allow my stem to build up JUST for this purpose. I was also one of those guys cleaning my stem every 2-3 days by flushing and wasting that good vape oils. Never again

That was me ...hehe
I also recommended that you do a session or 2 to heat up the resin in the stem before dunking it
in the microwaved coffee .

And the stem Michael Stone posted was vaped thru water gear for sure .
Yes , it makes me drool also ....

I've had the solo for 2 weeks now and have seshed with it quite a bit. Today about halfway through the session the solo mouth piece got very loose, like it would spin around and could come out really easily. This happened to both my mouth pieces. And me and my friends were using it on temperature 2 and it was making pretty milky (not quite smoke) hits. The abc also only looked brown and was fine. but still Clearly something was wrong with it. It's a really new model

Hey Mmenzie, check out Upupandaway's video in the Pinnacle thread page # 10. In the video he's using the Pinnacle WT with the Solo on 7 with the stock solo GonG. That dude milks the tube and blows huge clouds.....

I have the same setup and it works great!!

I thought an oring came normal with the newer models? and I can tell the thick vapor on low settings is a problem though, it happened all of sudden today. and when i take my bowls out the weed and vape are smoking a little, but the weed is just brown still...
EDIT: I read about the orings and it apparently blocks airflow a bit and seem hard to get. Like the stem is so lose that it spins around when its pushed in the vape, and slides of it so easily.

Just placed my order for my stubby PVHES GonG stems. Should get here in 6-9 days along with 10 ultrafine screens which I'll be doubling up.

Can't wait for this setup, judging from michaelstone's results
no particulates:

Here's the pics PlanetVape sent me, thanks again!

How did you order the stubby? I don't see it on their website, very interested in picking up some backups.

rcflo,
What kind of O-ring are people using to keep the stems in place? Does doing that restrict the airflow even more?

Also, is there a screen size that fits the Solo perfectly out of the box? It's hard to get a perfect fit when you have to trim the screen with scissors.

There is a seal ring in the top of the heater, it's not exactly an o-ring but does the same thing basically. It's actually free to rotate in the heater cover under the cap. Given some use it gets looser to the point you noticed, in doing so more air is let past it causing an increase in volume of vapor at the expense of concentration. You're probably the only guy in your time zone that thinks this is a problem, however. It sounds like the herb is not being overcooked?

Loose stems are a very common topic. If you put "loose stem" in the search box above you get 200 posts in this thread about it. One post in 70, it's been beat up a lot. You're far from the first guy here.....

Yes, tightening up the seal again lowers the flow back down. Many object to that part but like the tighter stem part. My initial testing seems to indicate that the PVHES removes this issue with it's vent grooves. I was planning on carving a couple notches in a ring to try the idea, but the PVHES stem I have is working just fine for now......

I also blow through mine, but my screen isn't ultra fine. In fact, it's the screens from my DBV  talk about recycling! :D
But mine is in the early stage of resining up on the end of the stem. Not quite starting but there's something there.

Standard half inch SS screens fit well, but I prefer 5/8" fine mesh. I 'dome' them slightly to insert then flatten the dome down some so it has a flat top. This leaves a small gap between the screen and the glass plate with the four holes so the entire surface of the screen 'works' rather than the small fraction over an open hole in the glass. It draws freer and basically doesn't foul that way.

I just went to a regular headshop (in germany) and they had screens on stock that fit very well. no scissors needed. also my planetvape stealth adapter was delivered with an fitting screen.

You have to custom order them, which adds 10$ to the cost of each stem.

I went with PVHES, although I'm sure they'd be willing to do Shorty/Turbo variations as well.
