Discontinued The Hammer Vaporizer

Its hammer time! I received my unit yesterday and tested it out late last night. And I must say "I like to Hammer" lol. At first i was skeptic about buying a butane powered vape but after experiencing this vape I can say that there is no offgas in the vapor path. I would suggest when first receiving the unit to lower the flow rate of the butane via the refil nozzle. I did combust on the first two attempts. But it is not silent it makes the same sound any typical butane torch/lighter makes. Another good thing is that the glass stems work with my HI log vape quite nicely. More feedback later.

I think for your next model, you should add a small plate to the bottom so that it can actually be used as an emergency hammer. Think about...an all in one camping tool! :D

On a serious note, I may have to try one of these when camping season rolls around again. Thanks for answering my questions as well!

Sooooo anyone try this baby with keif or any other dry concentrates yet? Seems feasible to me.

Welcome to the family! This should not be a problem as long as the screen is clean and you don't use so much that it restricts air flow.

Glad to hear you are liking the Hammer so far. Thanks for posting feedback!

I like it, how about a multi-tool vaporizer combo? I guess you could use it as a fire starter if you needed to. Always happy to answer your questions!

Hey Guys (and Gals) - Keep an eye out this weekend for details about a Cyber Monday flash sale we are going to do. I'll post the link with a discounted price mid-day on Sunday and it will be live for 36 hours ONLY ending at 11:59pm CST on Monday. If you've been on the fence about picking up a Hammer, Cyber Monday will be the day to do it as we probably won't run any other sales for a while and the $120 special price link will be closed at the end of the year.

Until then... vape up, eat a shit ton of turkey, stuffing, pie and other delicious stuff as that's what we will be doing :ko:. Happy Thanksgiving!

 ok wow, let me say that I've been playing with this all day. Put away my solo (my daily hitter don't use anything else unless friends come over and want to pax it up) so this bad boy hammer came in the afternoon, ups man met me right before going on a beer run. Decided to unbox it and try a quick impromptu session. Only thing I could say about unboxing loved the packaging, but the nail and diy press in screen were a bit hard to work with. You can't push down on the nail trying to put the screen in just right because well it's a sharp nail to push down on unless your doing it on a surface you dont want to scratch. (ended up messing up the extra screen luckily I had an extra ed's solo stem screen that worked.. more on this..) Besides the small issue of trying to fit the screen in the stem I got both of them loaded up, put in half of what I would put in a small solo stem, so hardly anything really. Filled it with vector didn't take more than a 4 sec squirt and it was full. I turned the flame control on the middle and lit her up. 20 seconds later put the stock stem with some blackberry kush in the heater and inhaled trying to get a feel for the airflow. I got a thick hit instantly. To my wonderment I thought I combusted but just deep brown on top, so I stirred and took another moderate deep draw to recieve beautiful solo like taste dry thick vapor.

I wish I could water filter this... oh wait I can show you how in a minute. First impressions are that I like this vape. It will fill a special nitch when I want to get STONED off a small amount or when I'm out camping or long periods of time outdoors. It's such a natural feel coming from a old time combuster, something about holding it up to the stem is just like lighting a bowl or one hitter. I love it. The first bowl I took I went on that beer run and had a great time out talking to the person at the counter and stuff and driving around in my honda si reving to 8800 every shift and playing some chill sts9 after being in a bad mood all day, my spirits were lifted. This hammer delivers and medicates. I came back home and accidently combusted but as SLIM said, I dailed in the settings.

So about the water pipe use. I found that instead of using the stock stem.. the solo standard glass stem or an ed's wooden stem fits and works GREAT with this vape. was getting just as great clouds from the stock stem as the solo stems but the solo stems had the convience of bigger bowl and in place filter. With using as a water pipe it is so easy to judge with water looking at the milk. When using a solo stem that has glass on glass or as I do put a small stip of tape around my stock stem to mate inside a female 14mm. Boy does this hammer milk some glass. Had two best friend combusters over let them try it out as a first impressions thing and boy did they like it, kept wanting to hit it till 3 stems in and were finnished off couch lock. The top gets really hot but keeping your hands low makes it ok is what we noticed and really our only cripe. Anyway as a die hard solo and inhalater fan, I'm impressed. I love the taste, no butane at all inhaled. Thank you hammer vape, you have got me feeling fine and a beliver in butnae vapes done right. I've never used an iolite never will but this seemed by reading comments a cool vape, bought it the other day out of the blue and so happy I did. Thanks for reading, cheers

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

I will be posting the Cyber Monday Sale link shortly, but I wanted to address a few things in Kush's post first...

Yes, putting the screen in the glass stem can be a bit tricky the first time. We are currently testing some changes to the stem that address this issue. The improved stem should be available in the near future both as part of the whole package and for individual purchase as replacements.

In terms of water filtering, the current stem was actually made to fit in old school slides with a rubber o-ring, so you could use it directly if the slide is the right size. We are also going to be offering a 14m glass-on-glass fitting in the near future, I posted a picture in an earlier post in the thread (http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-hammer-vaporizer.7002/page-2#post-272522). These are perfect for those of you that want to use the Hammer with you favorite piece, water or not.

Thanks for the feedback... great to hear you are really liking the Hammer!

I've been split between the Hammer and the Lotus vaporizer.

I've had a lot of experience with the vapor genie and I loved everything about it; however, I began to fear that the butane in the air path was negatively effecting my health. This paranoia began to manifest itself in some symptoms (real or imaginary I can't be sure), and so I decided to get rid of it. That being said I loved the simple design and portability, and I see great potential and advantages in butane powered vapes.

The advantage I see of the lotus over the hammer is the torch flame is not integrated in the vape itself. I went through a couple of (admittedly cheap) torch lighters while using the vapor genie, so seeing these parts integrated in the Hammer makes me question the durability and lifespan.

That being said, the reviews in this thread attesting to the construction quality of the vape and the Cyber Monday sale have just about convinced me to pull the trigger on the Hammer :D.

Not sure if this has been answered already, but can this vape be cleaned enough for airline travel in checked luggage?

You probably read this on previous posts... but like many here at FC, the inventor of the Hammer is also, as another poster put it, an "airpath snob". The Hammer was deliberately designed to have a totally clean airpath with no butane exhaust.

As far as durability, it's obviously hard to confirm a specific lifespan when the product has only been around for about 2 years and on the open market for only 4 months or so, but the Hammer is a very solid product that should last many years. The one year warranty will of course cover any defects or failures for the first 365 days, but at this point we have had a minuscule defect rate and have yet to see a warranty claim from failure due to regular usage.

Hope that helps with your tough decision ;)

Not sure if this has been answered already, but can this vape be cleaned enough for airline travel in checked luggage?

The Hammer itself does not get dirty with use and technically should be the same as a butane lighter as far as airlines are concerned. The glass one-hitter (aka stem) can be easily cleaned with ISO or other cleaners the same as any other glass piece would be.

The Hammer does come with an extra glass stem and additional replacements can be purchased 2 for $20 (available at http://www.hammervapestore.com/products/glass-mouthpiece :)), so your best bet when traveling would probably be just to bring the Hammer and a clean unused stem with you, then discard the used stem and just bring back the Hammer only on the return trip. Worth $10 imo to not have to worry if you got the stem clean enough on the way there, then having to clean it again while you are away from home.

Shhh , don't tell the boss... I'm "accidently" leaving the CYBER MONDAY SALE link up for a few more hours to give you night owls one last chance to grab a Hammer for $99.99.

Hey, that's cool, I hope folks take advantage of your sloppiness. I wouldn't worry about the boss, he has a rep for stuff getting past him you know. Good show he doesn't read this forum though, isn't it?

You seem to be going that extra mile over and over, I bet he doesn't appreciate that as much as we do?

Thanks for dragging this puppy to market, kicking and screaming as it might be. More useful choices is never a bad thing you know.

First off, let me start by saying I already got my Hammer that I ordered on Monday. Talk about fast shipping :D

Thing is a smaller then I thought it would be, esp the box. Just need to get some foam and it will fit nicely without shaking around. Anyways, I read the instructions, very nicely done, but for some reasons I did not replicate the same results.

I filled the Hammer, waited about 5 minutes, warmed the unit up and got a weak wispy hit. Not acceptable. So I bumped the red dial up a notch and i tried igniting the hammer and I heard a boom and blue flame shot out the top and i hear a roaring flame, about 5 sec in to it, i smell burning plastic/hair. I quickly turned the unit off and turned it back to the lowest setting. Again I hear that boom and roaring flame. I let the device sit for about 5 more minutes and try again, this time I don't get the flame explosion and I try to take a hit about 15 seconds int o warming up, and I COMBUSTED. It was a horrible experience and now I am not sure if I even want to try the device again.

Anyone got any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong or do I have a faulty device?

I don't think it's defective, I had similar (but less spectacular) problems.

Unlike most such gear, this rascal has never been filled. The tank is full of air. You add gas, bringing the pressure up to something like 100 psi at room temperature. This compresses the air (at 14.7 psi absolute (above vacuum, not ambient) into a bubble 14.7/114.7 times the volume it once was. The remainder is (liquid) butane. Eventually this air gets purged out with gas flow, but until then it can spit rich or lean fuel/air mix out causing the sort of instability you're getting.

My fix was to take it outside, open the valve without lighting and let it vent for a while, shaking it from time to time. After a minute or two the sound of the gas coming out was stable and it lit and ran as expected.

It takes some experimentation to find the right technique, but lots of vapes are like that. Take it easy, go up in steps from the cold and you should be fine.

Once you purge the air out, it should not be an issue again.

Good luck.

With the Hammer, combusting and/or getting wispy hits the first few times you use it is really just part of the learning curve. It's much like a wooden box vape in that the temperature control can be sensitive and draw speed/technique can have a big impact on vapor production.

I understand that combusting sucks, but it happens sometimes during the first session or two and can actually be a good way to learn to use the Hammer. Most users that combust, only do it once because they are then able to adjust their settings and draw technique accordingly.

Draw technique takes some practice, but once you get a feel for it you can almost control the vapor production at any temperature setting just by controlling the rate you inhale. A faster draw decreases temperature, while a slower draw increases it.

Try this... start with the Hammer at room temp, set the fuel lever at about 20-25%, ignite and wait a full 30 seconds. Then gently press the glass against the metal and inhale slowly. Remember the rate of your draw is very important. If you are still combusting, try inhaling faster; if the vapor is wispy, inhale slower. Make incremental adjustments to the temperature until you find your ideal combination of heat and draw speed.

When you first ignite the hammer (and the fuel tank is full), an instantaneous poof is totally normal. The plastic tube the stems came in can be repurposed as a container for your materials and will hold the Hammer in place in the toolbox.

Hopefully that helps. The Hammer functions a bit differently than other portables, but once you get past the learning curve, you will appreciate how adjustable the Hammer is.

Feel free to PM or email me directly at support@hammervapestore.com if you have additional questions or issues.

My initial thoughts are that it is, indeed, a vaporizer. It's smaller than I thought, and would be highly pocket portable if it had a safety. Flavor is good, and it seems clear that the butane exhaust is being properly vented away when all is going according to plan. When on a full charge of Power butane, I've found that the flame wants to blow itself out at all but the lowest fuel setting, but is well behaved then. The unit is very fast, with vapor-producing temperatures reached well within 30 seconds. The top gets quite hot after extended use but not terribly so, less so than a well used T1 thermovape for instance.

The narrow bowl of the one-hitter seems to be a bit of a limiting factor to me; a wider orifice opening would lead to more satisfying vapor and less constant repacking. I think this whole device might be more impressive with a wider bowl and a wider heat-exchange orifice. The heat exchanger does not have alot of heft or body to it, and so doesn't retain heat long while also rapidly getting hotter when exposed to the lfame; you need to be on the ball when it comes to heating and reheating, and of course you also need to consistently stir and mix the load in the stem. The jump from "just right" to "too hot" is somewhat easy to reach unintentionally, and I've had a number of excessively dark loads. All of this can be attributed to a learning curve which can eventually conquered by anyone.

I've gotten the best results while inhaling quite quickly, not slowly as you'd expect from most convection vaporizers; the heater, even at a low setting, seems to be adding heat much faster than you'd draw it away by inhaling - this seems to lead to excessive darkening as I mentioned. Inhaling quite quickly mitigates that and is leading to great hits. A kif experiment worked excellently.

Edited to reflect my evolving opinion of the Hammer. I started off slightly underwhelmed but am starting to appreciate it. I am now getting dense, satisfying hits and a consistent ABV. The small fire-poof ("fireball" seems like overkill) that bursts out the top occasionally is fun.

Hammer Vaporizer, I'm curious, is this a flameless system or is there a jet flame in there basically blasting at the exchanger? Either way, it's effective, and it's silly when you look at this vaporizer and realize that all the components have likely been available for decades, it just took a little effort and intelligence to put them together.
