Oh you need to unscrew that cooling unit completely eh? I didn’t know you had to do that.

It gets pretty dirty in there, otherwise you can't get everything out? Yeah you don't need to soak for a long, shake, rinse, take apart, q-tip scrub, etc... simpler when you don't use the cooling unit and get alternative stems

Shit Snacks,
I thought he was referring to the inner liner that you pop out after unscrewing the inner ring under the battery cover, not the oem stem itself. Oops (?)

On edit: now that I abandoned the dosing caps, my other stems get wrecked pretty fast, too.

There are a lot of fancy glass options out there that can be pricey. However, one option that is available which comes from sneakyP. I use this guy everyday as my main stem and it's only $27. So much better than those stock stems with the cooling do-dads IMHO, and cools very well. My fancier stuff sits in the drawer.

Fair enough. I thought I could get away with just soaking it all in one piece. Knowing my luck I’ll lose a nut or washer.

Might just start using my ball stem instead. Looks like less of a chore to clean. But I do like the short stem and how it feels.

Guess tonight I’ll gonna rip the ball stem then.

When I was still using the OG short stem with the SS nuts & bolts, I had NO issues putting the C.U. in a small sealed container with 99% ISO or 190 ethanol. Let it soak for a hour or so, shake it now and then. Rinse with water, and either air dry, or air compressor. Used backup CU while soaking 1st one.
100% clean!

Yea I agree, don't need to take apart. Maybe the orings. I used to only unscrew it a little, so the nuts and washers are loose when shaking in iso. Almost always clean after this

Yeah. I think I’m sticking with the OG mouthpiece for now. Used the short glass beaded one that comes with the TM. And gotta say inserting it, it feels a little loose. And the flavour isn’t as good. I have a weird flavour with that mouthpiece. I think I’m gonna be the OG from now on. I’ll give a few more bowls but not liking it too much. Find it a tad too long as well.

Just as an FYI... that's not exclusive to SP. I know VGoodiez has it (got mine in a TM 'kit'), and I think others have that stem as well. About the same price, too (they sell it separately, as well as in their 'kit').

As it turns out, that is my least favorite of the 'usual' stems, for reasons of both cleaning difficulty and fragility (my first arrived broken, right at the mouthpiece 'neckdown' / reducer). One of these days, I'll spring for another stem (how can I not, with VAS?)

They are not all the same though, some have actual beads with holes through them, which are bad for this, but they are pretty much all made in China and some very thin low quality, though some are better at least

Yes, they are not all the same and some are made of shitty glass. You have to be careful where you get them from. SP sells a quality one and no doubt VG does too. I never thought I would like it. It does stick out a bit and looks silly, but it cools fairly well for a dry attachment and is easy to load and use. I fill it with warm iso and it cleans out well for having lots of nooks and crannies.

My main attachment was a 18mm wpa and a OGB jhook, but this thing was just so easy to grab and use. YMMV.
