true but the VG has a very direct intake, without any kind of distancing tube and makes up for it with the diffuser disk which basically has the same role as the tube here.

in piro's case the intake tube's bends and length ensure optimal temps and air mixture, doesn't need a fresh air carb like most of the other single bend L shaped intake tube vapes for mixing. doesn't make much sense adding cold air to your heater either if you ask me, another win for piro.

looking at most other vapes i see nothing but screens between hot air and herb chamber and the shortest most direct path possible in order to prevent wasting energy. can't imagine any benefit to adding geometry inbetween for this sort of vape, only downsides is what i'm saying, besides the proper length and a couple of bends for air mixing.

That's true, though IIRC the principal behind the VG was designed to actually heat the diffuser from drawn in flame and then use that as the heat exchange medium, more than direct torch output itself.

My direct torch vape doesn't use any bends for mixing, some of the iterations added in fresh ambient air for mixing. It can be beneficial depending on the design, for example my flame intake doesn't get hot at all, I think all of the others I've used do.

I will probably pick one up if he does the BF sale again this year.

It just takes the generic 18 to 18 male adapter? Put rimmed screen in adapter, blaze up? Right?

I don't need a stem, just this setup is what I'm after, gives me all the possibilities I need :)

Yep! Super simple and efficient, you could load deeper into the joint too with a flat screen in there instead of rimmed basket

Hey, does anyone know how to get a custom (just a different wood) Piro, does it have to be from a drop?? Because, well, that's probably unlikely for the foreseeable future. Thanks!

@Grass Yes : Dude how the hell did you like my post before I could even hit refresh, lol!

the Piro extracts fastly, so why not clicking "Like" fastly?
anyway ;) there's no custom woods until Spring, it's harder for him to work it under the laser when the temperature is low....
reach out to him just before Spring
have fun!
the Piro rocks

Finally managed to find one, via the Classifieds. So much easier than a brick style vape. My first time on a j hook was just fantastic. Love this thing already.

*****Mods, please merge with my previous post******
I've not seen anything like the enthusiasm there should be for Piro-with-hash in this thread, but a 1:3 mix of Caramelo CBD and old fashioned Moroccan in a basket (on a j hook) is a delightful way to spend a Bank Holiday afternoon.

That sounds really nice. If I ever find some trad hash I will try this. To be honest, I'm surprised there isn't more general enthusiasm around the Piro; I view it as a classic piece in the realm of the Lotus, Vapman, or OG Brick. It's so functional, so easy to master, and shares the flavor-forward billows of vapor common to bricks. Glad to see you're enjoying it as much as I do! ; )

I am no longer vaporizing (day 76) but Piro was my heaviest hitter....I didn't have any ball vape and the Piro felt like one for sure...
I used a flame of 1 inch which is slightly above lamart's recommendations, but I only took fast draws or super fast draws
I look forward to your return video, if that's the plan--otherwise, Godspeed! ; )

This thing is so fun. It tends to work really well with recyclers because the hit is so open and the heating parameters so adjustable.

Yeah that's what I found, I didn't try it with a recycler but I tried it with a rig that has a much airy er perc then I usually prefer for most of my vapes although piro crushed it

I managed to accidentally combust a bowl of hash in the Piro yesterday. And I'm only half ashamed to admit that
  • the sight of the little red ember dancing behind the flame-frame/ glass was a delight
  • The very very large plumes of combusted hash tasted relatively ok, and exceptionally cool bubbled through the fc-199
Obviously posting this sort of content on FC is wrong on a number of levels, but I felt compelled to share this with the group, as I've never enjoyed accidental combustion in a vape before.

Also, whilst I'm here, what do people think? Does the name of the Piro rhyme with the surname of the Spanish artist? Or the first name of the 39th Vice President of the US?

I always thought Piro=pyro=pyre=fire (or the implied lover of fire). It struck me after wonder the same about the FLAM.

If my understanding is correct, your accident was almost fated to happen. I think the name must be ironic, though, as it's so forgiving with flower I don't remember that I've ever combusted mine. Such a rare occurrence it can be named for it confidently. ; )

Nice! I find it hard to use vapes like this outside, as seeing the flame is hard in daylight/wind can be pesky. Im glad it worked well for you though, its a gorgeous setup!
With the Piro it's really easy to aim because the opening is facing you and well-placed for your eyes, you bring the flame right to the intake, and it's super forgiving, so you don't really need to see as much as you would a DLX One, for instance. Im not really sure, but I do find it much easier than most bricks. For some reason I find the O'Connell Micro similarly easy to use outside, I think because the way you hold it lets you place the flame thru muscle memory, your hand is always in the same position.

Although spoken with a Swiss/French accent, the vowel sounds are more like pEEErOH and flAAAHm. That said, they'd also call the capital of France pAHrEEE , instead of rhyming it with Harris, so who knows?

Me either. Although I was having a very good time at the time, and probably being a bit greedy/taking my eye off the ball. I'm not used to that amount of hash, through the Piro through water

Well, having jinxed myself I feel I must now take my chances with some hash and the Piro. It's hard to find here so my hash vaporization skills are undeveloped to say the least, so this will be an adventure!

If you don't hear back, don't worry...

I get easy, very good results with my piro. Same strong pure convection results as the brick etc., but the piro doesn’t require such a refined technique. Even extraction and hard to scorch/burn. no complaints as far as function! however I also get a bit of a taste/aroma that I guess must be the wood. I don’t love that part and I’m wondering if it will fade with use? Anyone else experience this?
