The "Stunner"

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
I am getting bored by all comments about copying others ideas. To me having a bigger bowl is enough innovation. Waiting vapcap to do this since day 2 and i think: more the offer more the choice
in the end, beginning with dynavap, these are all fucking copies of one hitters, so go elsewhere if you don’t like this iteration of cigarette like vape

do we know what kind of ti alloy/grade is the canister/cap?

If I'm not mistaken it's gr2 Titanium, but I just messaged my guy in order to verify for you

And THANK YOU

I'm more than happy however to answer any questions
Thanks for the reply dude, I think it’s an occasionally quite defensive community due to the difficult nature of surviving as a small maker of a relatively niche product market, at the same time we should be more welcoming of more makers on the scene as long as it hopefully doesn’t come at the expense of others, rising tide lifts all boats type thing.

This. The TA is obviously a copy ("inspired by") the Anvil and Dani, which are both obviously copies ("draw inspiration from") the dynavap. Two of them chose to add mass with metal and two of them choose to use balls, but from where I am sitting they are all conduction heavy hybrid devices. I don't think there is anything more sinister going on but if you think this is problematic create a thread outside of the dedicated product threads so we can drub all of these makers for doing something that has already been done 🤷‍♂️

Piggie hasn't been able to keep up with his own demand, and he's in the UK. Lots of room in the market for a US-based source for a similar device. Originality police be damned, this is no Edison level invention, and copies of it were already being made by DIYers who couldnt wait for Piggie's half year intervals.

I've had a review of the TA up for months and people constantly asking where to get it. If I had a nickel for every guy I told to go patiently wait in Piggie's line-up... so now there's options.

Lets see who can manage a more frequent restock and to that come the spoils.

I can't speak to the others but the thermal accumulator is actually convection heavy with hardly any conduction at all... So I would imagine this one to be the same? (There is also 18mmKiller using balls with even larger stems, and Camfoulet is another recent variation of the DV style... yes there's a lot of these now, what can you do, but they don't all extract with the same heating style)

Yeah idk. I haven’t tried it and I don’t want to knock any of these vapes. I am just skeptical that the threaded design of the bowl and cap along with the small space really provides enough separation in any of these designs for convection. Everyone has to follow the laws of physics and thermodynamics regardless of their source of inspiration.

Haven’t really looked at the Convector oven design at all, maybe it’s a little different. I am not personally too interested in butane based designs right now, but I’m not knocking anyone who is or who creates on that space.

As a recent Camouflet owner, I'll say that I believe there's more convection happening than conduction but one obviously has to be careful when heating it to just heat the tip. The taste signature does feel more like my convection vapes (ALP) and I have to "stir" the load by tapping and shaking the tip to get an even roast.

Never have to do this with conduction biased devices like a traditional DV. Also, I can heat the tip of the Camouflet a couple of times without inhaling and the bud stays very green. More evidence of convection. I wouldn't have thought such a small air gap could do this but hey, what do I know?

This is why I'm excited to try a product like the the TA or Stunner. I think the extra thermal mass of the tip and the wider 9mm format should pack a wallop. I'm excited.

I’ll have to look at how the convector works. I know there’s a similar principle of hearing some mass up to heat incoming air, but I thought I recall reading that there is also a direct draw facet. Like I said, the butane scene hasn’t been something I’m avidly following these days so I didn’t look at it in too much depth.

Probably this thread should go back to being about the Stunner, tho.

I'm not great with taking videos as I'm not yet really comfortable in front of the camera but here's 2 videos I made awhile back

And this is a video that someone asked me to make just to show how I was saying the Temps rise after you're finished heating it as well as how long it holds the heat for, I realize there's no draw in the video but it gives you an idea

You might be thinking of the Vector by Volski (that one you heat as you hit) actually...? If you're not following that closely, maybe you shouldn't pipe up to say something like all of them are conduction heavy hybrids...;):2c::D

Yep. Should've said I'm not a torch guy either. I only use IH (iSpire Wand) with my devices. Camouflet works very well with it.

Looking forward to an IH compatible Stunner. The TA is already compatible but alas, I haven't landed one yet 😭

It's not so much that it won't/doesn't work in an IH as it is so much as it just needs the IH to work to hard and too long for me to be comfortable telling people that it's fine
I tested it in my own custom built IH's that I make and they need to run close to a 2:30 minutes in order to pump enough heat into the unit to give a satisfying and compete extraction

The IH specific caps I was going to have made were going to made from SS as well as being thicker to work better in a IH

That’s maybe fair. My comment was mostly on the dog pile. Personally I think a little math probably answers the conduction vs convection question handily, or the experiment someone proposed of just heating a few bowls to the point you would usually draw and looking at the avb after. If you can do that a few times and it looks way less cooked (or not cooked at all) then you have some gauge of how much of a convection bias there is.

Glad to see the progression @tinctorus
EU ents can feel free to contact me, I won't however give my (biased) opinion on the product but I will say thanks to all those that are giving the Stunner a fair shake as a product with space in the market.
These head assemblies will be compatible with most PT glass parts, which for some may be an interesting thing.
Cheers!

Who cares if someone came up with the original idea. Its good for people to improve upon the original idea, to make it better. This vape is a result of that. Unless someone has a patent on it, its all fair game. If you do/don't want to support it for whatever your reason is, make your voice heard with or without your wallet.

If anyone needs ZrO2 Zirconia, Sic or ruby 3mm balls I can do any of them for $35 for 200 shipped in the states as well

I also got new stems made today, most are 12mm OD, however I now also have 14mm OD carbon and it looks fantastic with the Stunner head as it sits flush

what is the difference in the 3mm balls as far as heat up time, heat retention and function that you have found through use?
