Puffco proxy vs. evolv cricket

I wouldn't compare the peak to the proxy, I also disliked the peak. The airflow and atomizer are way better on the proxy than any peak IMO. Even with the 3D chamber.

I'd more look at the form factor and what you are looking for there. the proxy is not pocketable like the cricket but is still very easily brought around

I really want something that I can have my pocket, so if seen out I would not draw too much attention. The proxy would have me looking like Sherlock Holmes lol. The cost on the proxy is a lot better that is for sure, I will continue my research! Thanks!

Can anyone who has one speak to the cleaning?
After owning a Cricket for only a short time and daily use for about 10 days, the jury is still out for me. Lots of respected posters here love it, and I have a lot of things I like about it too; the flavor is top, it is solid and well-made, it is pretty small for travel. Also, while you wouldn't believe it in the size of the airpath, it provides decently cool hits for no water.

That being said, clean up is the biggest con for me.
I find it a messy vape to use. Even with a small amount of concentrate, there is a lot of splatter. Concentrate residue from a single session gets all over the inside of the cap and all around the outside of the tub. After even a single use, in order to keep it clean you need to soak a couple qtips and clean all these areas along with inside the tub itself. Other units I use, such as the Core 2, only need a single dry qtip to swab out the ceramic bucket and you're done. Other stealthy vapes for travel, like the Terp pen, also require very little clean up making portable use easier for me. The Cricket has the best flavor of all of them.

Are the heat up and cool down times really as advertised? In the summer I am big on hiking, how is the battery life, would it last all day? Thank you in advance!
I can get about 5-6 sessions out of a full charge. YMMV

I would say if it's going hiking and in a pocket that will jostle around, you're gonna need to put a rubber band around it. The magnetic cap does not have the strongest attraction to the body and the cap can dislodge causing dust to get in the tub. I believe this can be rectified with a rubber band or a snug-fitting case if found.

Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted to hear (or not really). Clean up like that is not in the cards while out and about. So this would become more of an at home use for me, defeating the purpose. Maybe a terp pen is the best idea for me

It's not a claim, it's a scientific fact.
It's metal, has approx the same thermal conductiviry as chrome steel. Is steel 'low thermal conductivity'?

Also, if it's low thermal conductivity how is it heating your the material?
(Hint: heat transfer via physical contact is called conduction.)

By not overloading, and drawing too hard, I can easily clean the tiny Cricket titanium tub with one QTip!

Haven’t seen a portable concentrate device that doesn’t require clearing the vessel of undesired, leftover oil. Maybe direct hot coil atomizers, which I haven’t bothered with for years now, as the reclaim is present immediately after the first hit, a nasty taste I can’t tolerate.

My proxy requires one half of a qtip to clean the ceramic atomizer fully, so I can get two dabs out of one tip most of the time.

For a full maintenance I do this once per week, soaking the entire atomizer/pipe in ISO and wiping the silicone base with a terp wipe (iso soaked wipe), takes around 20 minutes.

I find it extracts all of what I am looking for out of the oil I put into it (with a surprising amount of flavour dry!), if you like big globs you may need a higher temperature to extract it in one heat cycle otherwise you can extend the session until its complete.

sleath/looks for me don't really matter, I carry my proxy around my neck like a necklace when I am out and about with it lol, but I also live in Canada so perhaps a bit more socially acceptable lol. I also enjoy that I can rip the proxy out of the stock pipe, and throw it on my 14mm WPA and go to town on easter egg mode (630F) and rip a monster dab on my huge glass piece (full milk).

The largest downside to me on the proxy is the battery life. I only get around 8 to 10 sessions depending on my temp settings / ambient. On the upside it fully charges over USB-C in less than an hour.

The more I read experiences from both these vapes the more I believe that they are totally different from one another and are hard to compare. I have yet to try a cricket, I would love too but I don't think I can see myself purchasing one yet... yet.

Cleaning the Cricket looks way easier based on just the first two cleaning videos i've watched about Proxy cleaning. This is what has been turning me off of the Proxy in addition to the silicone, but I still want to try it lol

I do concur that maintaining the Cricket is a bitch, especially for OCD types lol

I carry my proxy around my neck like a necklace when I am out and about with it lol

I gotta add that this is my experience as well. With a slow draw, recommended load size or even smaller and I'm able to clean the cricket sometimes twice using a be single q tip. I'm not seeing any reason to use iso soaked q tips either.

If you start with the chimney and silicone after your hit, any remaining concentrate is warm and super easy to swab away. Then turning attention to the tub and surrounding area with the same side or the other and it's super easy.

Every few loads or after a session I'll use an iso wipe on the chimney and whole tub silicone area to keep it nearly like new.

I am still deciding if I'm going to keep mine. It is a pleasant device to use and gives great hits. For me, it would probably remain a home device to mix it up a bit. To use out and about would be more than I want to manage. I don't see me at the beach or in the park soaking qtips with iso and going through the cleaning process. Not an issue if all you need is one session and you have it pre-loaded and melted in.

Honestly, when on a hike or at the beach, I find the easiest thing is a live resin cart. Second is the OG Terp pen. You still need to bring a concentrate jar for more than one hit, but all you have to do is smear the tip in it. And NO cleaning needed between hits. Of course, nowhere near the vapor quality of a cricket.

I can probably get the cleaning down to one qtip with practice. I do find the need to soak both ends of the qtip with iso in order to clean areas that don't heat up, like the edges around the tub and the cap gasket. Otherwise you end up with lots of wispy cotton strands everywhere.
Please tell me if you have a better way. I am also trying to use those individual iso pads (like those hand wipes in a restaurant, only iso), but it's hard to clean out the tub without a qtip.

this is a bit off-topic, but might be of interest to you. I use my mighty all the time for vaping wax (and hash) in public places. it's very discreet (I think most people think I'm vaping e-juice), plus you can load a fair amount (e.g. .07g), which produces ~12-15 hits, and clean-up is easy. no special technique required. tasty hits at low temps, big clouds at high temps. the main downside for a lot of people would be the 2 min. heat-up time.

I do use my mighty outdoors on occasion but always just dry herb. Do you just sandwich with herb or use the concentrates pad in capsule? I'll be honest I've never tried the concentrates pad at all. I've sandwiched a few times and was pretty good effects

I don't use the sandwich method or capsules, just smear the wax on top of the concentrate pad, vape @ 190-210ºC. it helps to let it 'cook' for 30-40 sec. after it reaches temperature, so the warm-up time's actually a bit more than 2 min. I think it works great - definitely better than my linx hypnos wax pen, which has a much more restricted draw.

I'll pick up some wax or sugar tomorrow and give it a go.

the only concentrate you might want to avoid with the mighty is live resin; it's pretty runny. I tried it once and there was a noise like someone with phlegm in their throat the next time I used it; it only happened once, cleared up - I suspect some LR got down into the heating element.

Are you comparing to the OG Peak or the Pro too? I've only used the Proxy, but I love it. I thought I might want a Pro at some point (mostly for the battery life and customization), but I've messed around with the Proxy on a little bubbler and I just prefer hitting it dry anyway. The form factor is perfect for me. I recently picked up a heady ballcap and it rips really nice. With nice hash rosin on green, I'm done in a few hits, and it usually only takes half a q-tip to fully swab it out. I only do 2-3 dabs a night, so I've only had to deep clean it three or four times in the almost two months I've had it. The cleaning is pretty easy with this vape if you stay on top of it.

Personally, the Proxy was way more appealing to me than the Cricket.

Apologies in advance for possibly a stupid question.
I have a sai taf on sic using a geek aegis fairly rugged mod. Fairly tough and semi pocketable. Great taste.

In addition I have a dtv5 and avs M22 (both on wismec dual) and lightning pen.

All provide good taste. Fairly pocketable. LP especially.

The sai taf is what I would take hiking etc as so robust.
The LP is great for a quick hit before the super market!
I tend to use the others at home or deck when I can't be bothered to fire up the e rig (d cup on sapphire).

What do the puffco and or cricket offer that any of the above doesn't. What am I missing?

Thanks

I am comparing to an OG Peak, that is the only dab experience I have at the moment

What would be a safe maximum sized dab in the proxy? The Cricket isn't for me, because of the bb load size... i'm tired of having oil under the tub all the time.

I'm thinking that the Proxy would be a much better device for me now, as long as I don't have to clean out actual oil in weird places between dabs lol Reclaim is one thing, but I was just wasting too much with the cricket, and don't have the patience to keep reloading as a daily/frequent driver.

I was thinking core2, but for some reason i like the proxy better... I don't want to be taking atties apart to deep clean, just like the lightning pen. I prefer minimal parts. Tossing the proxy atty in iso is perfectly simple, and simply perfect.

I'm not a Glob-Monster so I'm probably not a good person to ask. But I'd say at least 2x bb size. A lot of this will depend on temps.

I don't find the Proxy to be too bad cleaning wise. I use a gentle pull, but not obnoxiously gentle. I don't have to think about it most of the time. New users don't have a problem IME either.

You'll still get reclaim build up, but I only do a deep clean once every 7-10 days. Other than that, just q-tipping.

I bet 3rd party sellers will have some good deals this month. So you could at least try the Proxy and compare it to the Cricket. Puffco stuff holds resale value pretty well if it doesn't work out.
