BAKx - bake all kinds

Yikes, that’s quite the thing. Likely have to pass on this one but I’m definitely intrigued, drop happens at a decent hour for me local so it isn’t going to be an alarm clock if I wanted to try my luck. Sounds like it’s quite a fun little device.

OK @666Honeybadger i think it's fine? Because pouring into a glass will reduce its temp?
Fine by me but tbh this doesn't really say anything about accuracy of the device, does it? Who knows the true temp in the glass? Oc it will cool down from pouring/touching the cold glass but can only guess how much...

If you want to use the "boiling water-calibration" you should measure in the pot, while boiling imho?

If you want to calibrate temp beyond boiling water/freezing water [which is really aimed at temp probes that are designed to work by inserting into a solid/liquid], then consider:
Cotton singes to a light gold color after 10 seconds contact at 470°F
Table sugar has a melting point of 366.8°F
And many people will say that IR guns can't be accurate since the reflectivity of different surfaces affect the reading; but an IR gun that allows calibration can be adjusted to be accurate on a range of surfaces. Ex: I could heat soak my vape insert / atomizer in my oven that's calibrated at 366.8°F +/-1 and then calibrate my IR gun to read 366.8°F off the insert / atomizer. Then my IR gun would be accurate on that surface.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
I guess people weren't kidding when they said access to the drop is valuable. Currently the earlybird access auction is at about $500 for each. Good on Ralph, getting that bread.

If I'm reading it correctly, the bidding (which the first pick is up to $650) is only for the access. You would still have to buy the unit separately.
The good news is that he is willing to pony up the shipping cost. So you have that going for you, which is nice.

Haha seems you are reading it incorrectly, as bidding price does include the BAK itself ;)

96.8c my thermometer is fine ;)

it seems like with DNA you can't set TCR to 185, it's 1/185 = 0.0054 so...
took from the internet, i don't have a DNA mod:

dunno how to reduce from cold resistance tho but pretty sure it is possible.

I set my resistance directly on the mod (DNA250c) and I am using the BAK material file provided by Lamart.

As an example about how everyone has their own preferred settings, I am locking at .020 increase over cold ohms reading for best results with my mod, my temp probe, my draw speed/usage style/personal preference after many trials.

I tried calibration with the thermo and prefer to calibrate with the AVB as my guide, 440F gets me a nice dark ABV, 450 will start scorching, this is accurate enough for me and really it doesn’t matter what the number reads as long as we like it and it is repeatable imo.

Different strokes for different folks and all that. Happy vaping

what's the TCR in this profile? ss316l which is ~90 or 185? reminder: I don't have a DNA mod. just Rim-C/Predator. I configured by myself as lamart said TCR 185 and 0.197 (Wismec Predator mod) recommended by Improvaper - was too hot - 0.193 is perfect.

EDIT: Ok , I didn't read it right at first. if you have to raise the resistance, bakmaterial lamart is TCR ~90 (SS316L) . can't answer about it yet!

If you can tell me what's the temp with the thermometer, real temp - i will be happy. no biggies if no.

I also had to raise the resistance with TCR=92.

People with TCR=92 (SS316L~) will need to raise the resistance, TCR=185 will have to reduce it around 0.018-0.022~

@SonicBacon in which screen in ESCribe do you lock + or - resistance? if i get a DNA, i will set TCR=185 and -0.02 from cold....

Hi GoldenBud,

I am not near my laptop until tomorrow so I can’t tell you yet what the tcr is on the material profile, I will get Bak to you on that one.

When I tested with the probe my temps were measuring around 10 degrees higher than the mod temp display.

I have not found a resistance setting in escribe but it can be adjusted on the mod (while cold) in the options menu

I tried your recommended -.020 on the resistance and found it to run too cold, 440 felt more like 375 to me.

I would love to hear what you find works for you once you get a DNA mod (do it do it do it do it) 🤑

No I am using whatever the tcr setting is in the Bak material profile from Lamart, the only thing I change is the locked cold resistance value
I see. so it's SS316L which is TCR 84-94, I liked TCR=91 with my Predator too. I locked the cold resistance but I dunno which TCR exactly there's in the bakprofile by lamart. probably around 90.
in this Sunday he'll publish a new profile.
My TCR=91 setup was almost 100% accurate, enjoyed it, but I prefered TCR 185

This seems to have suddenly changed into a course of astrophysics?
I liked the TCR=91 with a heatsink. then removed the heatsink and TCR=92 was almost perfect and TCR=91 was far from 100% accurate. TCR=185 gave me the perfect temp with the needle thermometer (3c-4c below screen temp after 120s~)

It took me a while to remove that heatsink. with heatsink the resistance was 0.240~ and without 0.215. this heatsink is not perfect too. too much difference between w/ or w/o a heatsink, it's like having a long cable or so, something is not right. I will not use a heatsink anymore lol

so you can change your message to "
This seems to have suddenly changed to a course of aheatsink? "

;)

Yeah man, this talk doesn't invite me to buy the device tbh.
Don't want to loose myself in these numbers, TCR's, resistance, thermometers, cold ohms, real temperatures versus fake temperatures, different mods and what not...

I just wanna vape flower, you know?
:D

all the process of configuration is much much easier than installing Windows 11 tho....and most of the people I know irl, know how to install windows 11 with rufus disk-on-key....

I think most of this talk is an enthusiastic hobbyist enjoying their thing. But as someone who has many 510 devices and mods I don't think you have to care about 90% of that.

However part of my feelings about the BAKx is that it is a little awkward to manage everything. And being a 510 device is part of that. So I think a lot of folks would be happier waiting for the next revision.

I do think you will be able to buy a mod and BAKx from Lamart and just go to town. But it will definitely be a part of the experience.

So someone is bidding to pay 650 to dodge the drop and have first access to buy a 185 device?
:mental:
Good for Lamart!
But FOMO is a strange beast for sure...

maybe it's for MAC (not sure at all... )

Uhuh, so first question is if it's even apple compatible?

Edit: spelling.. I frigging wrote 'compatable'... LoL
