I wasn't even watching my tracking, already showed up in California today! Only opened it up quickly to see and snap this shot, all I can say is it's really nice looking, little warning on the outside that the teeth are very sharp which certainly seems true! Spinning really does seem fun, love the color I chose with fortunately some purple in the ring around it, also dig the raw finish and full text detail on the bottom... I am 071, so close lol the size, heft, the way it is put together, just feels so nice!

Quick question, so I'm ready when I return to use it, does anyone know if it had arrived fully cleaned ready to use?? I would love to not have to clean it first haha though I did see a tiny scrap of something white perhaps paper from the packing material, makes me think I should do a full clean.. if so do we think there's any danger of iso alcohol rinse fully submerged with the bearing and magnets? Just want to be safe and sure before breaking it in!

Looks awesome!
What is your serial number? Just curious...

I actually mentioned it above...

So? Are you home yet?? ;)
How did it take them nugs you threw in it?
CHEWbacca style?

Haha I did not get to use it until late for some indica, really nice fresh rainbow runtz that I just opened, was also waiting for other people to post since I saw we were near the end of the page here though lol

Really nice experience, effortless turning, pretty fast, although the grind is a bit more medium coarse with these buds at least (not sure if this would work well trying to grind upside down for a more fine grind like I do with BCG, could be a bit more particular like FM in that way) but I am very happy with the grind, pretty consistent for coarse, and yeah just can't stop playing with the spin!

I believe you have a few (other) topnotch grinders that you are very enthousiastic about so i am curious to hear your first impressions on the performance/ergonomics of this heavyweight beast!
I am still amazed by the 475 grams of pure stainless steel!
That is no joke, it's seriously serious!!
:whoa:

(My late SLX weighs in at 85 grams of pure aluminium (s)crap so i'd better start doing some pushups to get ready for handling the real deal!)

It really is really heavy, what's nice is you don't really need to hold it much, not gripping and grinding the way you would with others, but the build is great and well thought out

OMG! And you are always asking people to skim back and read before asking... I read your post early this morning and probably saw it then (i kinda remember the 71) but forgot. Then came home, saw you hadn't post yet and must have wanted an "introduction-question' as icebreaker i guess so figured the serial number was a valid opener...
Little did i realise how infuriating this silly question could have been...
Happy you didn't slap my ass as hard as i deserved for making you repeat yourself on the VERY SAME PAGE!!!
WTF!!!
The audacity, the audacity...
Never ceases to amaze, does it...

(I'm trying to say sorry here)

was waiting for other people to post since I saw we were near the end of the page here lol

And here i am, also wrecking your strategy whilst i was already at it...
If you do it, might as well do it good i guess?

Edit: but i see now your post is actually the top of the new page so i didn't spoil that part after all luckily

Cheers for your reply/little review! It really looks awesome!
I'm salivating here!
More weed then necessary but no means to grind some up...
(i actually just dug up a plastic freebie grinder...I feel like a pauper, waiting for the OM while i downgraded from aluminium to an 18.3 gram plastic pos... It'll probably break when it clogs, cheaper then cheap shit...)

The joy will be so real when the beast arrives!!

It'll be the height of grinding!
i'll probably instantly grind an ounce in pure bliss, just because i can!

another item I'll never want to part with, cheers!

and the very first time I've been tempted to get a grinder

For some reason your first post made me think you had one/ordered one but the second post makes me think you are tempted but not yet fully decided to take the plunge?
Not my business oc but curiosity won the (rather short) battle hence my question...My :2c::
Feeling tempted for the first time after 50 years without temptation imho you really deserve this grinder! No doubt! ;)

You went all this time without grinder? Or did you just use cheap grinders without any "love" for the item till now?

Looks really nice. Are there any downsides to the weight? I can't think of any tbh. It wouldn't be leaving my house.
Was hoping for a more medium/fine grind but it does look very consistent. 👌 Enjoy!

Mine arrived this morning and I love it. The heft to this thing cannot be overstated and I very much prefer it that way, snaps together so nicely.

Thanks Ben! Loved all the videos and look forward to more OM products/accessories.

*Edit to add I'm coming from an SCS grinder that I didn't have any big problem with but the Aroma 3 is so much easier and way nicer.

No worries haha

Yeah, certainly more of a home grinder, with the heft and size, compared to a regular BCG (which is a perfect portable grinder) but the biggest potential drawback is you could really hurt yourself with this thing! Even a BCG could damage glass, this would absolutely shatter it, possibly part of a small bone, when I was taking the photos above, the lid slid and fell pushing the bottom and middle to the floor... Fortunately they did not land on my bare feet and them being separate helped them way a bit less, but they still made a very loud clunk, nothing wrong with the grinder of course, that's why I'm saying there's a potential negative if you're not careful enough that the grinder could accidentally take out something you love

I don't know if I mentioned it before, the magnets are extremely strong, so it is more necessary to use two hands so you can hold the other pieces while you pull off one piece (you can still do that with it sitting on the table, just easier to use another hand to hold it so you don't just lift the grinder or separate the wrong piece you intended) I remember some people were able to open the BCG with one hand cracking it like an egg, I could never do that and I can't crack an egg with one hand either for whatever that's worth lol

Maybe in the future, they will offer different versions of “grind”. As of now, I’d miss the option of my (3) BCG grind plates.
Yep. I'd love to see more plates offered in the future. I don't expect it to replace my BCGs but I am really looking forward to it!

I absolutely see no reason why Ben could not create fine plates and more coarse plates for this in the future, could be a bit pricey, but otherwise easy swapping...

I kinda think (like SS said) that grinding upside down a couple of turns will give a more fine grind? But maybe somebody who has it can verify this?

Yeah I'm not sure if I want to try it with this one, given the heft it would be a bit more involved perhaps, and I wouldn't want to risk more debris getting in the bearing somehow, we'll see how it goes if I do, what's great is I don't feel like I have to, I like it so much more than the previous stainless steel grinder I had tried and most other grinders too

Was the product a little on the dry side? It seems like the dryer the herb the quicker it would fall down the holes and the more moist the longer it would bind together and get masticated by the teeth. Felvape’s newer test videos seem to have the same grind plate as these production models and his final grind looked much finer.

No as I said this was some of my freshest most moist, that doesn't mean it's super moist though, but it is compared to the drier stuff I have, which I have not tested any of yet, and yep as I said the grind depends on the buds as well as the grinder holes really

That's a good point, actually. Whenever I deep-clean my grinder, my first few grinds are more coarse than usual. As the grinder inevitably builds up residue, that should help keep herb in the upper portion for longer.

Both the strain and humidity affect all my grinds, no matter the plate I use.

Maybe even someone you love if things really go astray...

Reading all that makes me think i could probably grind my SLX in this thing...

No as I said

Nooo, not again...
Wasn't me this time..

Even holding it cocked at a slight angle would probably help, while lowering the risk of herb in the bearing. The herb could tumble a few more times like laundry in the dryer before sifting through the mesh plate.

Yeah, also with it being brand new, it ground so quickly, and as you see in the photos very little crumb was left behind stuck to teeth or holes... We'll see how it goes over time!

I wash the grinders in hot soapy water and then ultrasonic clean them before shipping.

Quoting this because i honestly think this is quite awesome!
Maybe there's more manufacturers that do this before shipping but a wash AND an ultrasonic clean?
Just like that?
Shows true passion and dedication imo! Adds even more confidence, happy i joined for this!
Proudly made indeed!
Respect!

Not sure if it was already mentioned, but I noticed they altered the design of the grip edge slightly.
Was it to improve the grip? Or for another reason?

Yes I noticed this as well Thanks for mentioning it! Seems to be for grip

How does it compare to the SCS grind's final product?

The teeth are similar to the OG SCS, the newer SCS have terrible scalloped teeth that trap the product, also SCS have large holes, making for uneven grind in my experience

Almost 50 years a cannabis consumer and the very first time I've been tempted to get a grinder, stunning top-quality materials & workmanship, cheers!
Get one, your fingertips will thank you for it!
the magnets are extremely strong
I did manage to separate the bottom catch plate accidentally last night while spinning but danced my way around a broken toe...pot went everywhere but luckily I had just vacuumed (well the T9 robot did)
no reason why Ben could not create fine plates and more coarse plates
Ben is willing to accommodate any wish, even make it out of sterling silver if you want...for a price of course, you just have to ask as I found out.

I think I have a newer SCS as I bought it within the last 2 years or so. One of the first thoughts I had was that I think the aroma-3 will be much better with the lid not trapping a bunch of material because there's no outer wall around the teeth on the top piece. Additionally without that outer wall I won't have to worry about compressed gunk on said wall jamming the rotation. I also agree the larger SCS holes make for a less consistent grind.

I apologize if this has already been explained..
Can this be cleaned in the dishwasher like the The Ripper? Can it be submerged in alcohol like The Ripper?
