I wonder, how have you cleaned the bcg prior to it clogging so quickly?

I only clean mine every few weeks, but mainly for a marginal improvement, it would keep going without.

Which size bcg are you using, that can only handle .5g or be 'overloaded'? In the large I have no problem with a gram?

I really look forward to this new Old Mate grinder and I hope it's all we are all hoping for. Soon enough it will be put more thoroughly through the FC evaluation process!

Of course we're gonna need a bunch of "Old Mate vs. ?" threads.

Sorry in advance @MCH, it's just a right of passage here! ;) and so far, things are looking good!

It's a grinder, I've been pretty thorough
I've put shitloads through it

If you've been reading this thread I mentioned a few times I love my BCG
And that I have a regular bcg with a fine plate that may be different to a large and medium plate
Also I cleaned it like new to test and be fair and it gummed in a couple days and clogs the plastic washer grooves

As I mentioned - other people are showing their gummed bcgs so it isn't just my word saying shit
Pictures and videos speak louder than my text

I do love the bcg
But it doesn't stand next to the OMD for speed and staying clean
Especially speed

Must be fine plate vs course, or some other explanation, since that isn't anything close to my experience with the BCG. I grow my own and it is usually sticky AF, and pushes grinders to their limits when it comes to cutting through when dirty.

I love the OMD spinning in felvapes' videos (like most fidgeters do) but it seems like not only a fun way to finish your grind, but also let's you know the top chamber is completely cleared out without have to open it. Pretty nice!

Yeah. I have all three plates in both sizes and I never have an issue with my BCG not working well. And I almost never clean it. I'd love to see a video of it failing to grind from gumming up. But that is probably better to post in the BCG thread.

I would like to treat myself to this piece of industrial sexiness as soon as I can and I am 100% fine with direct bank transfer because I feel I can trust this man. All payment processors are middlemen leaching off people's insecurity and general fuckery.

While you guys desperately wait for the Old Mate and are really bored, you can entertain yourselves by fidget-spinning if you have a magnetic grinder and a steel dab tool with a ball-shaped tip:
Remove magnetic plate from grinder. The magnet should be at the center. Place on table with magnet facing upwards. Hold dab tool vertically and attach the ball to the magnet. Now, steadily lift grinder plate from table by pulling the dab tool upwards while holding it vertically. The plate should be now suspended from the dab tool. Carefully spin plate with your other hand. How fast can you go? The plate will spin for a long time because there is very little friction and I guess mostly gravity is stopping it. :borg:

Grinder looks awesome..
Got one question about the bearing though.
In the video you mention that the hole the bearing sits in isn't perfectly round yet but it will be.
I'm wondering if once you make it perfectly round, the bearing will be prone to "slipping" in place; particularly if/when the grinder gets gummed up.
Or am I misunderstanding the design and the bearing won't be able to "slip."
Edit: To clarify, I'm referring to potential slipping between the outer wall of the bearing and the surface of the hole it's sitting in.

The black leaf ones are terrible. Its my most hated piece of equipment. At least my version has no grip to it at all and gums up fast. I had to use pliars a thousand times in order to be able to open it and really do hate that grinder with a passion :) Only way to use it, is to fully iso bath it once a week. I think there is a higher end version with some kind of grip to the housing that might work better. But avoid the plain ones!
