TinyMight / TM 2

Vaporific

All who wander are not lost...

Having fun in Key West with my TM. For the first time in a long time was able to share a few loads with a buddy seeing a good hard rock cover band into the wee hours, and he rarely partakes these days and loved the TM (as do I! ). Oddly the vapor production has lessened a bit and I’m trying to figure out why, even with charged batts (I’m charging them inside the TM while on vacation instead of bringing an external charger with me - next time I will). The heater screen got dislodged and luckily I caught it before any combustion incident (yuck) and I was able to shake the screen out absent having tweezers or any tools with me. I have an extra clean CU and stem and will try that next. Vacation continues…;):peace:

Chicken No Name

Dazed and confused
Some weeks ago, Nicolas the French glass stem maker made me 2 X 8cm spiked stems.

They were a disappointment as they failed to cool enough and they were consigned to the parts box.

This weekend, wondering what to do with the 4mm quartz balls I hadn't used in my fp baller mod (I used 3mm rubies) I started to play with these tiny stems.

One was no good. 3mm fell right through and 4mm wouldn't fit.

But the other was nearly perfect. Both 3 & 4 mm pearls fitted and did not pop out the mp end. A basket screen keeps them in although after one use they sticky up and don't move. I used mostly 4mm but chucked the last few rubies as they look great.

The draw is tighter but totally manageable.

The flavour is slightly reduced. I'm planning on playing to achieve the balance between cooling and taste.

Cleaning is slightly more frequent but I dump the lot into a iso bath and rinse. Seems to work.

But the cooling. WOW. It really works well. Cools as much as a spiked stem twice the length. Cools as much as using a WPA and j hook. Only water cools it more and that's only a slight improvement imo.

It's very pocketable.

And I think it suits the tinymight profile really well. The proportions look right.

Nicolas wasn't planning on making more of these but I'm going to suggest he does so.
In the meantime, I guess you could order the stem from him (8 cm with spikes with basket screen), emphasising that pearls need to fit into it and hope for the best......

I saw these glass beads online and was thinking to use them as an alternative to the regular CU. I read somewhere on reddit that those beads are safe to use for cooling purposes in the mouthpiece. As they were really cheap I just ordered them. Now since I have them at home I'm not sure anymore if I should use them  I couldn't find any information about the specific type of glass (website just says 'glass' lol). My assumption is that the material used is most probably soda-lime glass.

What do you think? Should I keep and use them? Or should I search for some ruby or boro glass (if so, any link for European sellers would be helpful)?
Bumping up that question. I've been using those exact beads as cooling beads for quite a while now. No problems so far. Now I'm worried about using non-healthy glass beads...

So guys...After 4 month of use it seems that TM just BROKE.I`m currenty trying yo find any info on what`s actually a problem.

After pressing it 3 times it normally vibrates and starts to work yet vibrates again after just a few seconds.

After I reassembled the device it started giving me a bunch of quick vibros after 3 presses.:bang:

-As much as i understand from carefully diassembling the device everything is ok with all components.I also carefully cleared chipboard(it doesnt seem to have any burned smell or any sign of mechanical damage.
So is it a problem with chipboard or battery is dead or what is a problem anyway?
Thanks in advance.

Mist was using soda lime beads at first and others have for cooling, should be fine though they are not as durable I guess?

Have you tried another battery? Have you made sure your heat setting wasn't too low? Those are my first 2 guesses from your description of it's misbehavior.

Well , soda lime doesnt have the mechanical resistance of boro, while durable to vapor temps ,bouncing around in the stem hitting the harder quartz/boro walls might create chips or dust, wont speculate if ammout would be harmful.
On the Mohs scale quartz and boro are 7 ,rubies and sapphire are 9,while soda lime is 6.

Yeah honestly that's why I went up to ruby for my own cooling needs instead of trying quartz or glass beads... 4mm and 6mm size

:D Well i am very high and a few questions pop up in my head, wish i had better undestanding of the matter.
Is it best to use quartz/boro beads cause they are the same hardness as the stem 7 vs 7 ,cause in the ruby scenario you got 9 vs 7 (Gem vs Quartz) compared to 6 vs 7 (Soda lime vs quartz).
Is the question above stupid ,cause 7 and 9 on the scale might be hard enough not to chip on each other.
Also if something is hard ,doest it mean it is strong ? Diamonds are known to be very hard but easy to break... lol...
It should be easier to scratch something softer with something harder . Soda lime is less scratch resistant than boro.
Welcome to the rabbit hole :D !

Found a published study in my mother language written by a scientist from the National Academy of Science,he got an e-mail left at the bottom. I will shoot him an e-mail with my question ,hopefully he would answer. :)

----------------
After another spin on the wheel.
Quartz is airborn and harder gems than 7 on the mohs scale are prefered for jewelry cause they dont get scratched by environmental quartz dust.
Only a diamond can scratch a diamond. Corundum can scratch itself, topaz (8), quartz (7), and anything softer.
So anything can scratch itself in the end ,but something harder scratches the softer things easier. So i'd say boro and quartz are safest bet, until i dont hear back from the NAS guy.

Yep.Seems I as we ukrainian ganja lovers tend to say (visadilsya) stressed to much).I tried my friends battery and everything seems turn to normal.
Looks like my old one lived a strange and hard life. Thanks cybrguy.

I will try this ones...if i used the nuts and washers for so long :hmm:
Does it change the flavor that much?? I didn't notice anything in the flavor when I took the nuts and put the glass balls:shrug:
and these certainly don't chip:whip:

Link? Those look like ball bearings which might be a good option as well, tho I would expect more expense...

Anyone here that also has a Brilliant Cut have a grind plate preference for use with the Tinymight? I have the medium and it's working well but I'm kinda curious about the coarse for who knows what reason.

I wonder if steel ball bearings or Hematite might be better than glass at pulling heat from the vapor?
Perhaps. I think that would be more of a proportion of surface area since it’s a comparable metal to the native cooling unit - and its main intention. But a good idea nonetheless if the ball bearings don’t give off anything. Metal could break glass however and I’d be wary of that. I guess glass/gem balls could too in certain situations. All the talk past and present herein about alternative stem cooling options have me contemplating boro balls for my TM. That’s what I’d like to try. Maybe when I get back from vacation…

Vapor production is still a bit off with mine and wonder if it’s the humidity here in FL. The stem is not loose at and the clear oring atop the inner glass cylinder seems OK. Both batts I brought are fully charged. I forgot to change my stem & CU out for the other pair I brought; I’ll do that soon. I definitely feel effects though so that’s a good sign. :peace:

Coarser grind is nice if you are using the WPA with the glass screen, great taste, but you can also do that manually, straight medium grind from BCG is pretty coarse for me, so I turn it upside down to get it finer often as well, it is pretty versatile but I do want a coarse plate (I have fine BCG too and also Flower Mill with coarse plates)

Hi guys! new user here but long time lurker :D

I like full convection vapes the most, I currently own a Firefly 2+ as a daily driver...but i'd like to try a vape with an easier vaping experience. Something that doesn't require looong steady draws to get clouds, something to sip more relaxed (maybe with a session mode), that you can share with friends without explaining them how it works. And maybe something that doesn't require stirring in between a couple of hits (stirring and reloading the firefly 2+ it's impossible if you're trying to be stealthy)

I was one click away of buying a crafty+...cause it seems to check a lot of boxes (easiness of vaping experience being the most important) but what kept me from doing it was that i don't want to lose too much of the efficiency i've grown accustomed to with the FF2+

I was trying to find a workaround for the bowl constantly heating and wasting my things (dosing capsules, cbd mixtures ecc...) when i stumbled on this tinymight. Have seen a bunch of opposite experiences...and this is giving me a lot of thinking into its pros and cons but it seems i can't find a straight answer to my doubts. First of all...is the Tinymight safe? Is the airpath really passing through wood glass and stainless steel only? Is the PCB in contact with the airpath?

Then come all the questions about the vaping experience. I've seen that it rips hard and the flavor is probably a good match with my firefly 2+. But can i take little sip like i would do with a crafty? How easy is to use compared to my FF2+? Is it reliable in terms of performance?

Thanks and sorry for the long post

for beads i think ideally you want the same material and hardness as stem for structural integrity purposes. boro.
i'm thinking turbulators (bead/wire/tape/geometry) are mostly cooling by creating turbulance, increasing surface area and flow velocity etc.
if beads are absorbing heat it's then mostly dumped back in the airpath since there's little contact area with the poorly conducting boro stem for dissipating it outside (compared to other turbulators/materials).

Mine's gone through periods of "off" vapor production too, it's always "fixed" itself too... using quotes because I'm not sure it was necessarily indicative of an issue, or just normal based on a number of factors.

I've definitely noticed a trend of altered vapor coinciding with environmental changes - temp, humidity, etc. I would say it's also seemed most noticeable while traveling, so that makes sense. I've noticed it changes with the flower, even within the same strain, changes with the cleanliness of a stem... it will return to normal at some point though. Usually I get paranoid and start examining the AVB when I suspect vapor is off, but it always is still fully extracted and looks normal. There's often variation when it comes to the darkness of the ring on the face of the flower, but idk, it always returns to normal at some point.

I wouldn't worry about it too much!

I've been thinking lately that sometimes less visible vapor isn't a bad thing, and thinking that the same amount of good stuff is vaping off, but your lungs are absorbing it more efficiently, so less waste is being exhausted. A couple of my vapes will take the same amount of flower but my exhales look completely different, and I'm fairly confident there is a difference in efficiency there, based on effects and smell. Could just be high thoughts though.

Actually, the stock TM stems are made out of quartz, not boro... Aftermarket stems seem to be mostly boro though. Damn I don't feel like trying to find quartz pearls now for my stock stems, I already have rubies lol
