There are so many ways to approach the Dynavap.

I tend to vape with the port completely open, loosely filled full chamber, heat until the click, take several (3 or 4) light draws, allow to cool past the click 10 seconds or more, then repeat. Depending on the herb I can get anything up to 7 or 8 cycles which means something in the region of 20-25 'tokes' from one bowl.

Lol. 19s rock. How do you like the '21?
It's very good, smooth airflow and tasty rips every time! I use it for hash only and even after 10+ heat cycles the stem doesn't get uncomfortably hot.
The 19M heats up a little bit quicker because it has less mass to it, so you can go for big rips and clear the bowl in 1-4 cycles. It's by far the easiest one to master

Not wrong at all! I have read discussions here where people share and discuss the weights of the various tips and how they think it creates various effects. Good stuff. The new, massive tips work pretty well, I think, and I've seen people recommend them as more IH-friendly. There's also some hard-core cap/year analysis out there, in the Fluxer thread I think.

Anyhow, try them all!

The differences between the various tips astounds me and makes me want to try them all!

I experience little difference between the 17,18 and 19M. How different does the same beer taste in a different glass. A little perhaps. Caramelized onion from enameled cast iron or a stainless steel pan. A little perhaps.

DV lost me at captive caps. :goon:

I didn't like them either but with the new tips I think the heat-bearing mass and the horizontal ridges combined with the slightly looser cap may create more convection and certainly more airflow (along with the serrations on the edge of the bowl). I like Omni and Vong bowls for WPAs: good heat retention for big hits, better airflow for less lung strain.

I tend to vape with the port completely open, loosely filled full chamber, heat until the click, take several (3 or 4) light draws, allow to cool past the click 10 seconds or more, then repeat.
This is close to my technique: straw-fill, light tamp for airspace, first heat to second-click, mouth-to-lung pulls for flavor. Second heat onward I heat low and slow, hit it open airport all the way with some late-bowl feathering. Have you tried the '21 Omni? I think it produces the best flavor so far.

Hehe this suggestion keeps presenting itself to me via various channels - thank you 😃

I am all paid up on bills and doing okay, but waiting for work and can't spend any money right now! like seriously, no matter how much I want to!

As soon as I am back on top of finances I think I am going to have to try this ...

My stubborn ass was I was trying to master the glass Waterwand/Dynacoil using stock set up in my FTV GO IH and it's just too aggressive/hot. Added one silicone pad and it's about where I want it.

I dunno, for dabbing with the Waterwand/DynaCoil I love my FTV GO IH.

Super fast heat up, super fast cool down, very little thought process required for consistent delicious and cool clouds.

Not fucking with a torch is nice too.... A lot of people really enjoy the process of getting high. These days I just want to get high and get on with what I planned to do after. So having a hands free IH to bang out 10 dabs in about as many minutes (or less) is ideal. I also understand people don't have the access to cannabis that I do, so for them being excruciatingly efficient with their flower is necessary. And of course some people are obnoxious optimizers too, which I have been guilty of for some things, so I get it....

I did recently try my IH with flower and it was fine, though maybe I was going too hot, because the taste wasn't very impressive. I can see how there's probably more fine points to vaping flower with DynaVap dry as well.

Add another pad for flower....?

you don't need the new omni. you can say the 20M has great flavor but the reality is because of the extra mass it's just lower temp on click, and most of us appreciate clouds. lower temp and flavor is achievable on any other dynavap really by heating higher on the cap or utilizing the low temp cap.

So my intro will to DV will be the 20M, which it seems is not very well liked here? What are its pitfalls compared to other models/years?

Yesterday was cleaning day. I noticed that my caps were really gnarly so I used a brush and a tiny bit of toothpaste and was amazed at how well they cleaned up. And they seem to perform better too.

But my caps may become a rarely used item once I get my Woodscents kit from @Sneaky Pete next week.

I love that Ed is making these stripped down kits available. It’s made it an easy purchase to justify given my large collection of Dynavap and 3rd party stems. The full kits were always too much for my budget and I didn’t need the stems.

I’m really looking forward to using my BB9 with the Woodscents and for more convection heating from my vapcap. And I’ll use my Simrell for water use. They’re my best vong.

Over the past 4 years I’ve tried so many different vaporizers, but always come back to the vapcap. It’s the right dose for me. Especially during the day.

I tired quickly of using a torch, and while I do enjoy using an IH, especially the Wand, I think I’ll enjoy the log vape and the consistent hits it delivers on the vapcap even more.

And the corollary is that heating the '20 low and slow should help produce more vapor. I think it also suffered from being the first DV with a captive cap, which blew people's minds, and the radically different bowl shape, which seemed counter-intuitive given how the others relied on hot air channels and a tight cap.

If you're unsure, bltkmt, go for the kit and give it a try. Look up videos that show how to heat low and slow and try that if you are unsatisfied with your initial experience. If you are still not there, but want to be, try getting a '21 M tip if the money's not a problem. People also love the old Titanium tip, and I'd recommend the '21 Omni tip, as well. Heating technique might be enough to make it satisfying. I realize this sounds like, "just spend money til you find something," but I'm just saying, many people really love these things, and there's gonna be one that satisfies you too, more than likely.

Another approach: get yourself a new '21 M in the color of your choice and chances are your '20 M will be a freebie!

It was the 2020 that convinced me to go all DV, all the time. I had an '18 and a '19, but both were too flow restricted for my taste. I think my '19 may have shallow grooves--that was supposed to be the year they opened up the airflow, but mine takes a powerful draw. Obviously I liked them anyway--I kept buying them--but they were backups to my Mighty or Argo. With the '20 I felt like I was getting the hit I wanted, and it inspired me to get a Vortex, a wood-stem Simrell w/Stinger, a few IHs, a bunch of tips, a Vong, and Verdium on the way. The Mighty has been gathering dust since.

It feels like heresy to admit it here, but I think the 2020 works great.

Dynavap would have never remained in my small arsenal had I not figured out how to make the '18 M flow vape better. Once that was solved, everything else was DV.

I can see how a '20 M could be freeing. I can see how a blem '19 M could be disappointing. The only thing that resembles an original Dynavap in my daily driver is the cap. And they vary all over the map in performance.

Just remember that the 2021 Ti Vong tip DOESN'T WORK WITH OMNI CONDENSORS and is better suited for M/Simrell/aftermarket builds.
it won't seal with it but extending the omni condenser deeper inside the tip still makes for interesting, noticeable effects.
instead of sealing condenser i'd rather use a carbless stem, i prefer airport play, so i actually like the effect.
