today the Tafee Team told me that they indeed have plans to release machined full stainless steel versions of the Stem in addition to making improvements to the Bowle as a whole. that sounds nice

What it’s most concerning to me isn’t the visible particles but instead the invisible particles we probably breath when non safe materials get used in vapes.
A particle like that would have most probably coughed out without any issue.
Sublingual tinctures ftw and fuck vaporization?
What a coincidence! I was actually looking for info about THC-infused olive oil (so I guess not technically a "tincture"?) today. I searched all of FC but I guess the main way of "fucking combustion" here is vaping.

No flakes when I cleaned it, but I do have flaking on the exterior of the stem portion.I guess all that glitters is not gold. Sometimes it's the inside of your lungs!
I haven't cleaned my stem since I've put about a half oz through it... I'm going to do a quick iso rinse and see in I find any shiney bits.

An update - Tafee replied to my email with a nice detailed response, here are the highlights:
* Reminded me that the cleaning suggestions do not say to dismantle the stem.
* They also speculate that the dismantling might have been the root cause.
* They state that only external areas of stem are coated and the inside is bare.
* They are continuing to design improvements.
* Replacement stems will be available (although no mention about US mail ban).
* The closing was some more nice words and well wishes.
I'm going to gently clean inside the stem with an ISO-moistened pipe cleaner once a day for a while like @Vitolo does. I'll inspect any debris / material closely for a week or so until I'm convinced it was a fluke. Hopefully you won't hear any more from me about this, but trust I'll be checking it out for at least a week.

And aluminum itself, oxidizes quickly so is quite safe at these temps (and an excellent heat sink so likely better than SS as far as cooling)Look in the cooking with cannabis forum in the FC community section. More info than you could ask for.

yes it is possible that paint flaked of where the screw was...
it is not true that only external parts of stem are painted, look where you put your pot inside there is paint also on the part where you screw the bottom plate ont he stem the screw post...

at the end it is possible that the paint was not mixed good or so... or faulty in some batches... I saw on my puck where the bottoms are (I do not mean the paint of buttons, like others reported flaking off), I have a little spot where paint flakes off above the bottoms on the aluminium of puck)...and I did not use ISO or hot watter on this part... I would contact chinese manufacturer, when I would be tafee... and ask them about this problem...
I am not angry at tafee it is a small new company, when you think about storz and bickel and volcano hybrid they had also aluminium dust problem ( and this is a big and old company). But at least I hope with time they will do us well and maybe find a solution in the future for the stem problem ...

Whose personality are you referring to? Bruno's? The Bowle's personality? I think it's clear that questions are being asked in this case, by a lot of users. I just think most folks really like this vape and, while iritated to some degree by this design flaw, don't believe it to be a health concern.

I've already mentioned that I am not satisfied with and expect a more robust answer from Tafée (though I don't believe it to be a health concern, myself). Just challenging your assertion that (1) questions being asked is 'not happening here' (2) due to a 'cult of personality', both of which I find to be off-base. That's all

Yes this is what concerns me, the designer had previous design issues with the aluminum in the volcano.
Fast forward and the aluminum piece on this vape again has issues as well.
So that's why I find myself still agreeing with Bud, how did this design share a previous similar flaw?
Maybe just a little, Bud was spot on with this group supporting a product that has gone backwards in development. Again I'm not hating on this group or the product. I just agree this design should not have been pushed to consumers at this stage/price point and I want to wait for a rev 2.0
Let's add in that ppl have been asking for msds and heater material since Dec 20, also on the ama on reddit, all kinda answered vaguely, always something posted and ppl ask for clarification on the class or material spec and get 0 responses.

I do not agree with prior post referring to Bud's opinion. He never said the Bowle was a step backwards in vape design. Said the Tafée cup idea and the Vapbong shape were "stupid AF" (used more colorful language describing the VapBong)
He actually loved the Bowle's performance, ease of use, cool vapor delivery, even and dark roasting, no stirring, instant on
He was so surprised in his Bowle video stream using it for the first time, that he got angry. Went on a rant about how this vape does what the Ghost and Firefly tried to do. He had personal bad connections with both, and the bitterness was apparent. He confirmed in an email to me that he was very impressed
Bud took down his videos, but I know how he felt about the Bowle's performance. I had sent him that unit. I was excited about it, and wanted to spread the word. Knew he was down on the industry: no longer the only affiliate critic, fewer new products to review and get affiliate income, his exclusive Ghost deal backfired big time, could not produce his G43 vape economically -- leading to colored NIH opinions (Not Invented Here), --- after all that, anyone would be bitter. I was trying to show him that there was an impressive new vape in town. Oh, well
Called it the "laffy taffy" in final post two weeks ago. He could not get past the cup idea, and uses that as a club to beat it, ignoring its advantages
But to say this device is just an incremental improvement is way off the mark

Just had a weird experience with my TB. I fully charged it the other day and didn’t use it after charging. Went to use it today and after one pull, got cascading blue lights. Never saw that and I couldn’t find a reference to that in the manual.
Anybody see that before? I wondered if that meant the TB battery was completely drained. I plugged in the charger and it showed only one blue light. I don’t understand how that could be since I just charged it.
And I always recharge when it drops to 2 lights...
Hoping this isn’t a rma in my future.

I had that happen once ... to be honest I wasn't 100% sure if I had fully charged it. I put it back on the charger and after charging it was business as usual.
Guess the good news is you'll know in about an hour......

The motivation here, is garnering a healthy following for the TB.
This would assure that all of us have continuity in our lives.

The issue at hand, and the potential of contaminating myself or anyone I have cared for with anything foul is very remote in my opinion.
- coating is uniquely external
- basket w/ceramic hull-Oring gasket-steel screen and contents (hopefully good bud) filtration
- first use and consequent resinous deposits.. aiming downward, turning 180º, traveling up the tacky baffles made by the die cast screw retention channels....
- Through reduced area silicone mouthpiece
to meeting the most ingenious of all filters... the human. ( Moist mouth//wet palpitating throat/glottal protuberances/pulmonary defense systems...)
I'm not minimizing this flaw that has come to light.
An item paid for of this caliber is worth the cost.
Cosmetic dissatisfactions should be addressed. (Customer's always right)
I have told those patients, who now use TB as a delivery system about this, and shown one our forum discussion on laptop.
I said that they should tell me if they see anything that makes them wary.

Back on topic, I have not seen the chips in person.
The flakes look large and my impression was that they had some sort of elasticity.
Is this what others saw?
I wonder how small of a piece could fragment off of this material.
Do many of other current owners/users of TB feel I am minimizing the risk?

i dunno but it seems ppl keep taking that 1 quoted excerpt instead of understanding Buds entire rant.
I agree with him and these are my issues with the device, no I have not used it as you can see my opinions are not about the heater:
- Short battery life
- Design that has presets temps - my personal preference and yes I think its going backwards when other devices have entire range to choose from and not limit you to 4 presets.
- Design that makes it impossible for me to use (real chronic shoulder pain where some days I cant get out of bed), I've asked this and gotten multiple responses, you cant put the cup on/off single handedly without possibly spilling your cups contents, can you do this in the dark one handed - answer was not really, to me this is a step backwards since other devices dont require 2 physical hands to piece the vape together for it to function the way its designed to be (drink from it, I know you can use it without the cup).
- Placement of the charge port requires you to remove the cup, this to me is just a bad design. Ive never had a product where I need to remove a entire functioning part of it to access the charging port, why isn't this a simple raise your hood to get to the battery terminals, instead its literally unbolt your hood/remove it to get to the battery - definitely a step backwards imo. Or in other words, one must unbolt the bumper to expose the gas tank to fill up, why not just a easier access port placement? The minimal battery life just keeps pointing to this area as why wasnt it designed better?
- Placement of the cup covering your LED lights, why would you block the lights, liquid can be all sorts of color other than clear, bad design imo and definitely a step backwards. Users again cant use the product as designed, for example if you poor pepsi or a colored drink.
- Stem peeling/rubbing off its finish around the base
- People following the manual and now having the paint peel off inside the stem when Tafee claims that it is raw aluminum in there
- Buttons issues working/not working
- Reports that the user does not know if device is quick charging and or having to reset the device to get it to charge correctly - how is there no differentiating led indication of fast or slow charging
- The actual design of the top screen, way too many ppl say they bump it and then cause hot spotting, I dont even know if this was user error during cleaning but it happens often it seems.
- Inconsistent performance reported on this thread, complete with cs saying its working fine when ppl definitely experienced issues with it, I also find it hilarious they were able to duplicate a issue that the buttons didnt work or something but also said that was normal... um you just replicated one of the users complaints and its a-ok?
- wireless charging,
- swappable batteries (I understand medical and not able to certify all batteries on the market but make a proprietary battery pack)
- complete range of temp selection - no presets
- battery port design - not vertical on the y axis of the device pointing upwards, pointing cable down is fine
- non-proprietary glass wpa attachments
- spare loads/pack storage on the actual vape
- real portability should fit in your pocket
- battery life that can last more then 1 evening or 1 entire day
