Would you recommend a convection vape that's portable and isn't harsh on the throat?

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any advice as far as finding flower that suits your needs? In the past, when I've walked into shops, the people behind the counter break it down into Sat., Ind., or a blend of the two, but typically don't have much to say beyond that. Perhaps I should be asking better questions when I walk into a shop, so when your shopping around, what are the kind of questions you typically ask the folks so you walk away more confident in your purchase?
Edit: I should also mention I started on flower, so I suppose I'm nostalgic for that experience.

Honestly, every time I walked out of a shop listening to the bud tender, I have been more disappointed than when I listened to my own googling research beforehand lol

I'll be honest, I don't really rely on budtenders for advice. Not that some aren't knowledgable, but it's hit or miss. So I don't walk into a dispensary (or more likely, place an online order) without knowing exactly what I'm buying beforehand. I'll look at their online menu, and plug any interesting strain names into Google. Since everything is a hybrid know, I look into their genetics. For example, if I want a good daytime strain, I'll try and find something with Durban Poison in its heritage.

You can also see if there are lab tests to see if terp profiles are more uppers or downers. Myrcene is more of an indica experience, pinene more sativa. Stuff like that.

Also, I whipped out my TinyMight for the first time in a month or so (I blame The Bowle). I forgot how short the small stem is. The FW is still a little more pocketable for me, due to the slim profile. But if you wear looser pants than me you'd be fine. I forgot how good the TM's vapor is. Top tier convection stuff. The FW is more top tier conduction. I'm glad I own both.

Never tried hash rosin. I just took a quick look and saw a gram for $65. Not sure I should try it though because I don't want it to ruin "regular" cheaper cost concentrates instead.

It would be hard for me to buy anything else if I had access to good hash rosin for that price. If you haven't tried hash rosin, give it a whirl. It's good to have a top shelf baseline to judge other 'trates by. Also, you can use it to flavor other blander concentrates. I have some flavorless Delta 8 distillate I'll add to rosin sometimes. It helps stretch out the pricey stuff and made for a very enjoyable high.

I've spent a lot of time looking around at vapes, but now I know I also need to do research on herbs as well. The reason I stopped in the past is that about 60% of the time during a session, I would vomit, because I would get too high, and the experience was too overpowering, and I think the lining of my stomach or esophagus is too sensitive. I'll have to investigate if some strains are better for people who are prone to vomiting when inhaling smoke, perhaps convection vaping will also help with that.

Yeah, I'm guilty of that as well. But the herb is more important than the extraction tool.

Given your past issues, I'd stay away from concentrates for now unless they're lower THC. Also I think the TinyMight would be an excellent choice. You can get get great results at lower temps with ease. Plus, since it's all convection you can take a little sip and come back later without the herb fouling in the meantime. Harder to do with the FW7 given that it's primarily conduction.

Florduh give good tips here, I think perhaps yeah you don't want anything that is too hardcore sativa with super high THC? Some good mellow hybrids, more chill relaxing, could do better for you? But yeah body chemistry is tough, good luck finding your proper treatment!

Also hemp flower is a cheap way to help modulate THC effects. You can mix a little in your bowl. And I was shocked at how good some if it tastes. Way more pronounced effects than CBD concentrates when taken without THC as well.

I search more and I can find some for $50 a gram but the majority of the places that sell it sell it for more than that. Either or some are "top shelf" and some are not. I am guessing the "good stuff" is the $80-$90 per gram. Now I might try one of those but I'm not sure paying so much extra over what I usually purchase. Me, I'm the kinda guy that would rather save my money and purchase more of the lower cost extracts. Usually I get a bunch of grams of badder or something else for around $35 each and get a few of them.

Since the Volcano Hybrid which I still own was my first real daily driver vape I seem to compare every other vape to it. As far as stirring goes I always needed to stir the Tinymight. Even with stirring it doesn't cook as evenly as the volcano hybrid. Not even close. Don't get me wrong my tinymight is my favorite as far as portable vapes go. I just want to be able to find a portable than can extract as good and good as evenly as the volcano hybrid. Just haven't found one yet. For portables though the Tinymight is my be option at this time.
Have you looked at the Firewood 7? It's got hybrid heating and doesn't need stirring. It is conduction first, convection second, where volcano is convection first, but flavour is still great.
It's a hard hitter and produces dense vapour and you can take it as dark as you like.

I've looked at that but I've been spending far too much on vapes and accessories lately. It's on my radar though.

If u want a small portable one hitter with no harshness.
They not have the thermal mass convection need for bigger load, and the cooling it will require.

Something like bowle isn't "pocketable"... and people still step up temp and stirr with all those u gave

The reasons u love,.. cherish,... what am i saying... adulate your vapbong !
(Don't know if cyrano de bergerac "auxèse" (hyperbole gradation) can be use in english)

When i start vaping 10 years ago, i use the mflb without stem, then move to a crafty but i never use the cooling unit due to harshness, so i move to bubbler with it.
Convection need way more cooling for harshness than conduction
I can hit a .1g load in an IO or a TB and finish it in a single hit without issue.

I actually find the IO to be amazingly tolerable heat wise (and I’m super sensitive to hot vapour in my mouth without water cooling) as long as you find the PERFECT 510 extension for a PFE (and the SS/glass extension I am using is maybe 0.75-1” long) and get the inhale speed right. I find really strong terpenes to be more of an issue than heat for mouth sensitivity from the IO or TB ...

Don't know what u means with strong terpenes. cause a lot of strains have passed under my tongue. And the only "strongness" that can be compared to harshness would be from unwell dried/cured bud with h20 saturation, which can go till moisture. The old attic taste...
Bud like that must be grind and let be aerated. but you'll never get good "millésime" from it...

We've all got different throat, old smokers.. new comers... "harshness" could not be totally wipeout, 190°C...
But dry mouth effect is not a device harshness.
as the "sour candy" taste of sativa, which can be compared to an alcohol sensation.
It's not the bad taste, smokey throat fucker, we can have with wrong devices/use

THIS. Last time I walked into a shop not knowing what I wanted, I asked this budtender for something not too high in THC that I could just enjoy on the couch while watching a movie at the end of a long day. She handed me Jet Fuel OG.

Echoing everyone else here about checking out the menu beforehand if possible and doing your own research. If you deal with issues like anxiety, etc you'll definitely thank yourself. Not all budtenders are created equal.

I've since found a ton of places that have great hash rosin. Tried several different dispensaries and also found some companies that only do hash rosin. Definitely hash rosin has become a favorite of mine quickly!.

When looking into convection vapes, I'm considering:
  • small or pocketable form factor
  • hits aren't so harsh.
  • doesn't require stirring, or at least offers dosing capsules
  • starts up relatively quickly and is designed for quick hits, rather than sessions, or at least provides that option.
  • Bonus Points if it offers replacable batteries.
If anything comes to mind, I'm all ears. I am fine spending any amount, just trying to make my first vaporizer a really special purchase.

Hey, have you tried 'open-flame' vaporizers before? No batteries, quick, on-demand hits and pure convection heating. I used to be a huge fan of the FireFly 2, but once I got hold of a Punch Mini by Dreamwood, I never looked back. It gives great flavour (comparable to a Dynavap) and relatively big clouds for such a small vape. Sure, it has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get over that hump you'll be happy you did. (and yes, stirring may be needed from time to time, but tht's more a preference thing)

You can find it at Greendream (DE shop) or at Dispensr (EU shop), they dispatch a bit faster I believe.

I used to think this way, before I got a few top tier flower vapes. Now, I enjoy flower about as much as concentrates. A year ago, that would seem inconceivable to me.

That having been said, a concentrate vape is an excellent on the go option. You can carry a concentrate vape and a week's worth of vaping material for less pocket space than a TinyMight.

I also felt that way, and then got a DiTanium and was like "OMG, dry herb desktop that works AND dabs!" And then I got a DTv4 and a bottomless banger, and I'm like "OMG, dry herb is so yesterday, I'm all about..."

VAS is real, and BEWARE THE CONCENTRATES. It just doubles the amount of VAS and GAS, or now maybe it's EAS. I've got Vape Acquisition Syndrome, Glass Acquisition Syndrome, and Enail Acquisition Syndrome and I've only been using medical marijuana for a fucking year.

Tinymight looks great, though. Think I might get on the mailing list... What glass works best with it?

I love using TM with various glass j hooks and other 18 mm female mouthpieces with extra cooling... No need to get on any mailing list by the way, they are ready to order, shipping within 1 to 2 weeks lately
