Would you recommend a convection vape that's portable and isn't harsh on the throat?

With harshness, the main purpose of that thread... and what u quote from me, as all my post talk about harshness, and the only way to reduce it is with no(or less) reheat and cooling...
Yes, which you claim is only possible with a desktop vape. I don’t think evidence supports you in that claim (or the odd notion that the only way to deal with harsh vapor is one-hitting it), is all I was saying.

thanks for the feedback. I saw in another thread where you mentioned to a user that they should get a Wismec Sinuous P80 to accompany their impcognito. Do you see any drawbacks to this setup when compared to something that's more usable out of the box such as the tinymighty, aside from the initial setup, or is it superior all around?

I actually find that TM to be superior all around, partly yes because I think it's easier when it comes regulated setup for you out of the box, all in one, I also prefer the more analog dial to the digital setups honestly... Though I have plenty of mod-based vapes, set up with temp control, and they all work well, but I do not think they are as simple and just overall I prefer my all-in-one style vapes personally... That being said, some people have no problem configuring, and they prefer the added features of mod based vapes... So go with whatever appeals to you, I think both designs are equally effective, regulated glass stem-based pure convection on demand (near instant too) generally...

You can't go wrong with any of those options or combos really. The main difference I can tell between the two is the different thermal mass/heat retention because of their different body sizes. It does make a subtle difference in their behavior, ultimately though I would purchase the one you like the look of the most. The bases/coils on the two are identical so they should behave the same there.

https://wismec.us/reuleaux-rx75.html this mod is on sale for $14 for the next 6 hours and works great with AF and the impcognito.

Unable to add this to my post, from the imp thread, looks like a good mod option if anyone goes that route!

The Impcognito, sitting in a Aster RT , with wood stem, dosing capsules . Set at 16 w. Learn to hit on it. Cool and tasty.

Where can you find an AsterRT now though? lol I have one too and it's great, but no one can get them anymore so not a helpful recommendation;) Imp/cognito is though!

Can u one hit 0.1g with a bowle ?
And it's more a unwired desktop due to its size. OP ask small
Bowle is that weird spot of being portable as it can be carried from room to room easily. But not pocketable. But can hit hard.

I will weigh out of 0.1g is workable in a Bowle. But in general microdosing is possible. Just tamp so that air will not go around but thru them bud.

So the Bowle is a desktop vape in your mind? It feels like you’re redefining words in order to make your claims make sense.
To be fair I also think the bowle is closer to a desktop than a portable. It’s portable in the sense that I can carry it around the house or take it with me to the cabin for the weekend, I guess, but I don’t think you’d want to be using it on a walk or around town.

I think you are describing the Tinymight. Ticks every box.
Any small pocketable vape that is full convection is going to produce relatively hot vapour. The TM does as good a job as any cooling with its standard stem, but has other (less portable) cooling options as well.
You'd mentioned that Tinymight also ticks the box, "doesn't require stirring, or at least offers dosing capsules."
Were you also referring to the "doesn't require stirring portion" as well as offering dosing capsules? I've read reviews of the TM, and although people love it, they mostly say it does require stirring. Will dosing capsules help in the area of stirring at all? I've heard a number of different capsules will work with the TM: Mistvapes, S&B, and Tinymight has it's own capsules now as well. Do you have any experience with any of these, and do you know if any of them help in reducing the need to stir?

When looking into convection vapes, I'm considering:
  • small or pocketable form factor
  • hits aren't so harsh.
  • doesn't require stirring, or at least offers dosing capsules
  • starts up relatively quickly and is designed for quick hits, rather than sessions, or at least provides that option.
  • Bonus Points if it offers replacable batteries.
If anything comes to mind, I'm all ears. I am fine spending any amount, just trying to make my first vaporizer a really special purchase.

I second the recommendation for the Tinymight. It's super unlikely you won't be smitten with it and even then it'll resell for full value used if you decide it's not for you

I hardly ever stir my Tinymight. It vapes most evenly if you temp step as opposed to starting at more full extraction temps. Trying to go higher than six right from the start can create a darker brown ring but I take that over a center hotspot and honestly the easy full extraction is one of email appeals of the TM for me. Granted I also use newish VTC6 cells and swap them out at two buzzes of juice left so ymmv

TM does not require stirring, it depends how you load and how you use it, I do not stir mine at all, minimal benefit if I do essentially none, for my usage. Also yes people who have used the dosage capsules do not stir, I believe, but mixed opinions on them too

Yes both, but I haven't tried their capsules. I have only used S & B capsules but wasn't a fan. They take a hit or 2 to start producing because they absorb some heat. This would probably help with no stirring because they heat up and add some conduction. Obviously you aren't meant to stir them so worth a try. Convenient for reloading on the go...but an extra hassle I don't need.
Best results probably without capsule but move the cooling unit down so your load is small enough to clear in 3 hits. I never stir, get 2 big arse hits and 1 clearing hit all at about 7ish. slightly darker ring but otherwise very we'll extracted. Stirring sucks with stem load vapes, and once you loosen a half spent load that is when bits fall into the heater. It doesn't gain enough to make it worth the effort.

Yes exactly, well put, I do not stir any glass stem based pure convection on demand vapes anymore, particularly now that so many are available with full temp regulation, it really is not necessary anymore for me.

Thanks for the feedback from you three. I read a lot of reviews on the TM, and most people say it requires stirring if you want to get a perfectly even cook, although I'm fine wasting a bit of herb if it means I can avoid the inconvenience of stirring. That's just me though.

Yeah "most" is very subjective, due to perspective, because my own is that most people do not stir judging by the thread, though there are a few who do... Again it really depends how you load, if you are careful to load not too deep of a bowl you should really not need to stir, it also depends on your temperature settings and even how you draw, and when I say load, like even your grind consistency... I have tried stirring, at best it only eeks out one additional hit, with very thin vapor and poor flavor, some people feel the need to do that, I am fortunate that I do not... My AVB is always extracted well...

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Or you can get into concentrates and open a whole 'nother world in options. Harshness can be hard to avoid if you get greedy with your hits. Sometimes you can attach a teenie weenie little bubbler.

I used to think this way, before I got a few top tier flower vapes. Now, I enjoy flower about as much as concentrates. A year ago, that would seem inconceivable to me.

That having been said, a concentrate vape is an excellent on the go option. You can carry a concentrate vape and a week's worth of vaping material for less pocket space than a TinyMight.

Is the high any different from concentrates vs flower?

It's going to vary by strain and extraction method, but overall I find concentrates have a little less body load than flower. All things being equal, I find it easier to be productive or social with concentrates, but a good sativa flower strain can replicate this.

I also mostly buy hash rosin which is close to providing the full spectrum of flower. Really expensive though. Butane, ethanol, and Co2 extractions are cheaper, but seem to have a slightly blander high. This isn't necessarily a bad thing if you're out of the house and would like to be high, but not stoned.

Since the Volcano Hybrid which I still own was my first real daily driver vape I seem to compare every other vape to it. As far as stirring goes I always needed to stir the Tinymight. Even with stirring it doesn't cook as evenly as the volcano hybrid. Not even close. Don't get me wrong my tinymight is my favorite as far as portable vapes go. I just want to be able to find a portable than can extract as good and good as evenly as the volcano hybrid. Just haven't found one yet. For portables though the Tinymight is my be option at this time.

When I lived in Cali, I spent a lot of money on a popular brand offering "Live" concentrates at a fair price point. They all tasted incredible, given the freshness of the terps. But... it was very difficult to differentiate the effects between strains. That's just not going to happen with flower.

It's easier and cheaper to get a variety of effects from different flower strains than it is with concentrates, at least in my current market. Live or hash rosin seems to have more variety in the effects than competing concentrates. And it tastes incredible. But retails for $80-$110 a gram in FL.

I like the taste of flower through a good vape though. It's also sometimes easier to titrate your dose, depending on tolerance. Some of my hash tastes so good that I want one more hit. And then any plans I had for the next hour or 2 are fucked.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any advice as far as finding flower that suits your needs? In the past, when I've walked into shops, the people behind the counter break it down into Sat., Ind., or a blend of the two, but typically don't have much to say beyond that. Perhaps I should be asking better questions when I walk into a shop, so when your shopping around, what are the kind of questions you typically ask the folks so you walk away more confident in your purchase?
Edit: I should also mention I started on flower, so I suppose I'm nostalgic for that experience.

Never tried hash rosin. I just took a quick look and saw a gram for $65. Not sure I should try it though because I don't want it to ruin "regular" cheaper cost concentrates instead.
