DotLeaf is still rocking my world and my most used vape. The feel in the hand is so nice. It has great heft, and the rounded edges are a winner. Kinda like a big zippo. The green and gold appearance adds something special, and the "gold" of the herb chamber is a nice coincidence.

Originally, I discounted the mode 1 for having nice flavor but no clouds. Turns out only the first hit has no clouds, and it has nice consistant vapor once it gets going. I'd describe it like getting a good fresh battery mflb hit every time. On mode 1, I got four full sessions before things started to taste spicy and the vapor dropped off. Oddly, the abv was light colored but running higher temps didn't extract any more vapor. IDK what that's about.

Great work DotMod!

How many hits, on average, would you say that you got on each session? And do you have any idea how much herb you used in each session?

To me, four sessions sounds a little small for one 18650 battery, but if they were large-bowl size sessions, that would be a little more reasonable.

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help

I think it was just about the taste not the cell?

That's fine. The numbers would still be useful, if they noticed.

Four sessions is four sessions. They had to at least reach a certain taste before dumping the abv and starting a new session.

Unless they were saying that they had herb that lasted them four sessions before being fully extracted...in which case I must know that strain!

Yeah, this is how I took it to mean as well. I think sessions time out on this around 3min. I bet the camber holds about .35 full with a tamp. So a 12min extraction on lvl 1 seems about right.

Make sure to look back through the thread at posts from owners of the dotleaf. khelek41girl has great videos of this in action, and I've done some measuring of oven capacity.

YMMV on any of this, since everything is subjective. I load .13-.15 in the oven, and during a session am doing back to back to back draws. Just really going to town and enjoying the vapor for the full 3 minute session. Then I keep drawing for another 3-4 times to cool the chamber and continue getting vapor.

On the low setting the first three sessions are great, with the 4th starting to get spicy and vapor dropping off. If I do temp setting 2 or 3, I get less before flavor drops off, but still get vapor.

I haven't been counting, sorry. The battery gets me two ovens before going to blue, but that was with a years old trash 18650. My fresh one lasts pretty long. YMMV on all of this.

My dotLeaf is back in action!

The replacement airpath o-rings/gaskets were quickly shipped out by DotMod and arrived on my doorstep the day after Xmas! The o-ring was very easy to replace. Kudos!

At first, once assembled, I was getting 3 white blinks of the light...indicating the herb tank was not inserted??? Uh Oh!

However, after a quick email and some subsequent cleaning around the bottom spring loaded connection with Isopropyl alcohol, all is good! Happy to be sending it, once again 8 )

Glad to hear it got worked out so quickly as well! Did they send you a replacement tank/did you fix the issue where the tank damages the gasket?

I ended up ordering one as well... Quite excited for this one!

No, just gaskets. I now know that one should depress the herb tank on the spring loaded connection pin prior to inserting to avoid snagging the lid on the gasket.

I did not purchase my device directly from dotLeaf, but from a third party retailer...thus, I likely received an early unit without updated components. Regardless, I've been very impressed with DotMod's willingness to get me sorted out over a Holiday week.

Damnit. I want one, but I can't afford it right now. I have to pay off a bunch of backpacking gear I put on my credit cards these last couple of months before I buy anything else. It'l probably be a few months before I can afford to buy more toys. Therefore, maybe this will be a good 4/20 sale purchase later this upcoming year!

Merry Christmas All.
I just ordered the device and an extra chamber from Dotleaf on Wednesday. I’ll post pics of what they send me. I wont really know whether it’s the new version but I assume it will be as I just ordered it. It hasn’t shipped yet.

Hello! All the dotLeafs that are being shipped out now are the updated gaskets and ovens! Unfortunately we will not be having any discounts for the holidays.

Thank you!

DotMod CS is really good. I've been impressed and well cared for in their responses. It must be a really tough time for them with the holiday order rush and a new product, and shipping delays, but they are nice and helpful.

The description of the chamber on dotleafofficial says "Chamber is made out of ultem casing and a ceramic inner chamber with a tungsten metal heating element."

I couldn't find much information about tungsten as a heating element for vapes. There are conflicting opinions re the safety profile, some say it's toxic, some say it's basically inert and is safer than SS with no chromium or nickel which makes it a better choice for those with nickel allergies.

Hopefully I'm not breaking the safety discussion rule, but I'm curious about what others think since I've never heard of tungsten being used as a heating element in a dry herb vape before.

Hello. Yes you would receive the revised version of the dotLeaf. The revisions would be the new Oring and oven. That is only the case if you buy direct from us.
Thank you!

So that confirms that...

Regarding the tungsten, no clue about safety of the material in general, but from the photos it looks like it's entirely encased in the ultem and outside of the ceramic herb chamber? In which case it would be in contact with herb or airways or anything anyway.. I may be completely wrong with that guess though

Nice, glad it worked out! Also definitely a good sign for their CS, they're in the middle of rollout (you see more and more retailers carrying the device), it's holidays and corona lockdown and whatnot and they still send individual o-rings out, super cool.

I placed my order at ecigarettes.ca since I've bought from them before, had a 10% code and they ship super fast to my location.

Also ordered a nice protective neoprene pouch that's snug fit for the DotAIO and should be perfect for the DotLeaf. Here's the link to the pouch if anyone's interested: https://ecigarettes.ca/products/desce-x-enushi-black-mini-neo-sleeve-enushi-edition

Should be here tomorrow. Hoping it will put my Mighty out of business!

From the above conversation though I'm now wondering if I'm going to get the updated version. Have written to ecigarettes.ca to find out.

:nope: As if VAS and GAS wasn't bad enough, now I'm opened up to the world of drip tips and carry cases and doors and other ecig stuff.

JK I love modularity, and I love that the dotleaf comes out of the gate with a world of available accessories. Never occurred to me to get a cover for it, but I have been worried about protecting it on the go.

For clubbing (assuming I can ever do that again), something like this would be fantastic for smellproof and keeping the mouthpiece clean

For us USA peeps, the company who makes the Desce case is from Cali. So you can just order direct from them.

I don't see any visible tungsten in the airpath. My guess is it's encased in the ceramic, or sandwiched between the ceramic oven and the metal body. For what it's worth, even when brand new, I've never gotten any smells or tastes from this vape that weren't the material I put in.

The silicone case you mentioned is made by JoJo. Great company. I’ve bought many of their mod cases over the past few years.
