I have my TM for almost a year now and just discovered that in on demand mode, if I pay attention to red LED light that shines through the glass stem I can systematically observe a slight "blink" or change of intensity of this light a fraction of second right before the haptic feedback letting me know it reached temp. Can anyone confirm this on his TM also? Could be quite useful for those with haptic feedback problems
On mine, the buzzing noise slightly changes pitch too when it gets to temp, so that's another way to tell if your haptic is broken.

My Tinymight arrived yesterday.
Ran home to test. But... It seems broken.

The temperature-dial can be turned 360° easily, nearly without any resistance. Have to turn extreeeemly sensitive to not turn over the 0/10-marks.
And the dial-knob itself is longer than the bottom of the unit. So when putting the TM to a flat surface, it wobbles because standing on the dial that is protruding over the base-surface.

OK, so i thought, i will not get angry now and vape some first.
Loaded, set temp to 5, fired, aaargh. What a disgusting blend?!? The herbs were dark black and completely burned.
Hmm, so i set the temp to 1, fired, same problem. Black, burned herbs.

So more testing required:


Test 1: Vape cooled down, set temp to 10, start in demand-mode. Needed 11,46s to reach temp/vibrate.

Test 2: Vape cooled down, set temp to 1, start in demand-mode. Needed 11,26s to reach temp/vibrate.

Test 3: Vape cooled down, set temp to 0, start in demand-mode. Needed 11,32s to reach temp/vibrate.


Conclusion A: It needs as long to heat up to 10, as it needs to heat up to 1
Conclusion B: It heats up on setting 0, where it shouldn't heat up at all. But it does...

So it seems to me like the potentiometer of the temperature-dial might be broken.
Maybe this coheres to the problem with the protruding dial...


If this is a standard "rising-resistance-at-right-turn-potentiometer" the behaviour would make sense, because it could indicate a broken or cold solder joint of the potentiometer. And then the unit would work on 10 all the time.

Wrote David yesterday, we will see what he will say.

What a pity...

This sounds like some of the early problems they had with the potentiometers, it may not be broken, it's just not set in the groove. It sounds as if it's set near 10 and it's not engaged or actually turning it.

I'd stop turning it much until this gets sorted. Mine had the same problem and has worn away to the point of next time it won't be a self fix and needing to be sent in. If you're up for taking off the bottom plate, a 1/2 drop of super glue or the likes will sort this out pretty easily I'm guessing.

Don't give up on it too quickly, it's a fun unit with a lot of potential! But if you're in the US and looking to unload it......:razz:

I think it would be great luck if the stops were at 0 and 10 with the dial not set in the grooove?

I am already searching for potentiometer comparison-types with real knob to replace that tiny-bridge-in-groove-construction.

Maybe it's just bad luck, but i have to say:
The rest of the vape is very very pleasing... Beautiful milled aluminum parts (even if they are glass-pearled to hide milling-marks^^) and very nice feel. Just the dial-construction doesn't meet my exspectations...

Hearing that, I'd tend to agree with you now. I didn't see that it was hitting positive stops.

I have 2 tinymights. First one works perfectly and is fantastic. Second one barely reaches adequate temperature at 10, and is also may be inconsistent in what you get at any one setting, but I’m not sure about this since the temperature is always low regardless. The website for the tinymight says there is a procedure that can change the range of the temperatures, and to email him to find out what it is. I’ve done that and have not heard back. I’m curious if anyone knows what this procedure is and can describe it here, or has any recommendations for improving my situation. I’ve swapped batteries cleaned contacts of the battery area, etc. nothing makes any difference.

I suggest contacting the company via your account: if you choose your item in your order history, you should be able to file a complaint about your device and ask about those settings.

Update:

I emailed David late on 19th of November, he answered today very early in the morning.
He told me, he will send "another order ASAP"
So nothing to criticize regarding CS for me

Thanks and yes, I have filed such a complaint. Are you aware of any other fixes that might be relevant here?

Could be just a bad contact point. The biggest one to check is the metal strip in the battery cutout area. It runs from bottom to top against the wood and then is folded over on top of the wood where it gets pressed on by the metal top piece when you screw it all together with the main screw on the bottom.

You will have to get a star bit to loosen/tighten the main screw...I think it is a T15 or one size larger...cant recall.

I fixed this issue with one of my 3 TM's by just putting a small folded over piece of masking tape between the wood and metal as it sits on the top of the wood. So when you press the top back on it....it makes a more solid contact.

Here is a pic of the metal tab where you need to make sure the contact is good with the metal top piece. (thanks to the person that posted many pages back).

You will have to get a star bit to loosen/tighten the main screw...I think it is a T15 or one size larger...cant recall.
Confirmed: T-15 Torx or star bit. I bought a multi-bit screwdriver for my kitchen which has that size, which I did not have, and I used it the only time I disassembled my Tinymight a few months ago. It was all coincidental that I bought a replacement screwdriver and needed it almost immediately when my haptic motor issue occurred soon thereafter. Weekend regards to all. :peace:

So...I promised a video and I got one.
Here is me micro dab using my AVB.
Now, see, I have been vaping resin and hash using my AVB for years and I never got why people are afraid of it melting when it just becomes dust.
I use AVB to mix the resin and while sometimes I use fresh herb, I think its a waste because the taste washes away... I never really liked the taste or hash or resin when vaping so I don't mind using AVB.
This time I put a very small amount so you can see one massive rip, but if you put more, I'm sure you can get much more.
