Discontinued The NEO by Prrl Labs

Xclerk

The Universe is our endless supply
Looks like units will only be discounted till they start shipping. Hopefully end of the month. Think there are like 60pre order units left at 30 percent off. Super pumped to be getting it soon. Got a stash of old glass coming out.

Yep... we're going to keep the discount through Thanksgiving--a green November. We're not a fan of getting all those Black Friday promotions, so we're thinking of doubling our prices that weekend to discourage purchases, and encouraging more self-care instead. Guess you won't find that strategy in a marketing class. 😆

Hi do you plan to have any UK stockists ?
We'd be happy to talk with interested folks. Our current plan is primarily selling direct to consumer, but we'd love to work with a couple of select retailers in Q1 of next year to get some stock closer to our international customers. lmk if you have any recommendations for people to talk to.

Prrl Labs has been kind enough to play around with one of my pipes that was modified to accommodate the Neo. We'd be happy to do the same for any of you folks if you see anything that excites you in our shop:
definitely going to set myself up with a combo in the future...

Well, I can but it is a work in progress...
I took an existing pipe with a 11/16" bowl and added a taper at the top to expand the diameter to about 13/16". (please note I did not have the benefit of actually holding a Neo in my hand for this attempt.) Then I mailed it to the fine folks at Prrl and they gave it a try. They tell me that taper strategy was not providing a consistent seal, so they took a 20mm Forster bit and cut a right angle notch inside my taper very similar to the wood pipe photo he posted. (I'll get some photos as soon as I figure out how to that here)

The bowls on my pipes are all 3/4" or 11/16" in diameter, and most have a perfectly flat surface, so the modification is not absolutely necessary. In theory the neo should rest right on top with a good seal. Because the folks a Prrl Labs have a lot of experience and I have none, I am assuming their general strategy is what I would/will do in the future. All of this a lot more precise when I am doing the other drilling on the pipes initially.

I could do this on any existing pipe, it is just a little riskier. Once I have one of these bad-boys in my hand I will most definitely build a few purpose built pipes from scratch for the Neo.

If you have access to a drill press, you can likely do this yourself...

Hey @Black_Prrl , how do you like the Milwak jr with the Neo? It has such an organic look, I thought it was stone.
I really love the Miwak Jr and highly recommend it! It was an early acquisition and I use it frequently. It feels wonderful in the hand--a good heft, shape, and texture. The draw is really smooth and cools the vapor perfectly. The Neo fits nicely and makes a really great seal on the one that I have. It has a decent sized bowl for modest sessions, and looks great on the coffee table. They also seem to have fairly frequent sales.

Of course, we're also loving our collection of other pipes as well. It's been really fun to try out the Neo on so many different styles and materials. @CDXX Pipes recently sent me a gorgeous wood pipe out of Turkish briar... Not only is it beautiful, but it has a deep bowl with a very satisfying draw. I really appreciate the craftsmanship and artistry behind these one-of-a-kind pieces!

@Kins, I'd love to try the Neo with the Stündenglass! The bowls certainly look like they'd be the right size, though I haven't been able to find their dimensions. Such a cool concept!

I appreciate the kind words.
I would also like to invite this community to take a look at our pipes if you are thinking about a dedicated pipe to use with your new Neo. Link to shop in my profile and right here.
Look around this week and come back to buy after Thanksgiving. We will feature many discounted prices from Black Friday (11/27/2020) through Cyber Monday (11/30/2020).

Very Interesting! Can you tell us more about how you modified the pipe to work with the Neo?
This is what it looks like here it is prior to their additional modifications

and after their modification....

Nice! You should create a dedicated thread for your products here:

That will get you some more exposure for other users on FC... I also think you need to message @vtac to turn your account into an accessory maker account?

Very Excited!
I ordered my Neo last night. Once I have it in my grubby little hands, I will produce some purpose-built Pipes for use with the Neo. With a little luck and some hard work, I hope to have some available for sale early in 2021.

Stay tuned...

@Black_Prrl I have the Hemsen (traditional) and a GRAV sitter Sherlock untouched waiting for the NEO..and am going to get the Miwak Jr (stone). I loved learning about the wood pipes (I make things out of wood for a living) and am curious where you got the small little wood pipe I've seen you use with the NEO. Do you know what species that pipe is?

The NEO has big potential! You guys are bridging the gap and ease of use for sure!

Do you mean this one @Dargin B?

It was included with another product of theirs which as you can see has a somewhat similar idea. It's called Ember https://www.embervapor.com/.

Thanks so much, @Dargin B! Sounds like you're stocking up on some great pipes. Our GRAV Gandalf just arrived and it's been super fun to use!

@Drug is correct (thanks!) that we frequently use the small, angular wood pipe that we'd provided with the Ember. It's made from Willamette Valley walnut and we made some modifications to the bowl/screen/airway to make extraction more efficient. We also soaked the pathway with vodka to remove the internal wood oils, then sealed it with glair--an ancient technique derived from egg whites. It seals remaining wood oils from the airway and withstands the temps pretty well. DM me and I'd be happy to provide more details on how to make your own optimized for the Neo.

Hey @Black_Prrl I went and purchased this in anticipation of the Neo arrival.

It'll work with any 18mm slide but it would be nice to see a bunch of custom slides with different colors and a good built in glass screen.

@Kins That ROOR looks gorgeous! Having loved science labs, I'm a sucker for beautifully crafted, clear glass. A collection of different bowls will go nicely with it!

@CaleidosCope The future is cordless to be sure...though that Aromed looks like it delivers. :-)

Yeah...plenty! But bulky. Not as elegant like the NEO ;) - heat-up time at least 2 minutes...
As a VapCap fan it feels like I am in heaven.
No draw resistance. Feels like free breathing. Stirring without messing all up. Big, tasty clouds. 5+ rips - tasty! No "pop corning".
I am sure the NEO will deliver ... wires-free!
Thanks in advance ;)

Yeah when I smoked I used bongs most of the time. I figure when I get the Neo it'll be so similar I might as well add to my collection of Roor's in celebration of the Neo!
