Sticky Brick Labs Vaporizer

Had the best bowl so far last night and it saved me from wanting to vape another. It rocked my world! It’s like the perfect combo for someone who likes the smoking experience but wants something better on the lungs.

Glad to hear you're getting it down!

Gotta ask - what'd you do different? Whered it click?

Saw this on Sticky Bricks Twitter ... anybody try this 90 degree perpendicular heating technique?

You mean the bent flame intake? Yeah, I got one but didn't find it to be an upgrade from the straight intake. I've read posts from people who prefer it, some with a triple torch even, but the og Brick is already all I can handle when it comes to rapid extraction.

Not that ... the torch flame is not pointed directly into the intake but perpendicular to it .... click on the image to view the video

That is sort of how I used the OG with the straight intake, more of a perpendicular flame, though not quite across the intake opening.
Thanks .... did you experience a longer heat up time than if you pointed straight in ? ... kinda looks like a good method to help avoid combustion and avoid burning the SB wood itself which would kill me ....

I watched a few videos again and noticed I was too close with the flame. I got it down now but having issues with another torch. I cant get it filled very easy and it’s spraying butane...

What torch are you using now? I have the same problem with my Honest torch. I let it spray a bit, try to be more vertical. It could be the butane canister you using.

Going into details i'm not familiar with. I happened to have cans of random butane so been using that. Somewhere read that quality can affect performance too. Is it a single?

How much of the flame did you have going in?

it’s supposed to be high quality butane. yea it’s a huge single torch that doesn’t last a bowl due to not filling all the way. I think it’s the can...there was a black ring on the tip that I lost. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Not knowledgeable enough to help. sorry man.

Took the restrictor disk out - WOW what a difference.

Unfortunately, I drank a TON of booze before that so I didnt get to really enjoy it/pay attention at all - turned out to be an awful idea to throw weed into the mix and it did not go well at all lol. But, looking forward to trying it disk-less for a bit too now.

ETA who can direct me to the best way to clean the combustion taste out of these things it tastes like asshole now

@BrianTL I think just have to wait for it to "air" out over time. The advise seems to be take a water wet q-tip and wipe the different areas. Probably ISO for glass piece can help a bunch.

What kind of booze?!

Yeah I figured as much, manual has general cleaning tips in there but not sure if theres any other tips for getting the combustion out lol.

It was a long day, had a big lunch meeting and thats where it started. Making a final pitch to a prospective new client, started with a couple beers, literally 2, then moved to wine, we drank a few bottles of Italian red wines, then bourbon showed up - Blantons to be specific which is my favorite. The bottle was on the table so we were just pouring and sipping. From that point on, so long, farewell, and goodnight Brian! Theres a reason I typically stay away from hard alcohol lol, things go south real quick for me when I start drinking it!

It was a 1 o clock lunch. Didn't leave till 630.

I've never had trouble getting massive hits and rapid extraction with the restrictor disk in and it has the notable advantage of being less hair trigger when it comes to combustion.

I don't have enough experience to help with getting the stink off a combusted Brick. I don't like the idea of iso on the wood though. They do air out over time and continued use helps too.

Yeah I dont love the idea of iso on wood either and wouldn't attempt to use that. Iso on the glass, and a wet Q Tip is what Ill end up doing unless somebody has a better idea.

I only have trouble with the disk in getting hits, its just once I get to a certain point, I cant get anymore. Granted, I've just been assuming that its not fully extracted, I will have to confirm that by throwing in some of the AVB from the brick into the TM. I'm probably going to but the disk back in until I do that, to be honest.

I recall your prior posts and that's what I don't get: the main reason I don't use my og Brick more often is because it's such a beast.

I have a pax scoop (which is too curved for me to recommend for much of anything, honestly) and I can put anywhere from one to four scoops in there and just crush it in three or four hits.

The abv from my Brick is always that obviously cached dark brown, not vapcap coffee black but as dark a brown as you'd shoot for from any convection vape. And with the enormous mouthpiece you get plenty of instant feedback on the extraction as you watch the glass milk up.

If I was being surveyed and the question was "How much does the restrictor disk hold you back from rapid, full extraction?" my answer would be "I think it's doing the opposite of holding me back and I never got such dark, even abv without it." It makes me wonder what's going on with yours. You got a Runt was it? Perplexing to be sure.

@BrianTL Blanton's is a classic and one of my favorites. There was a time I had bottles until John Wick 2 came out and you couldn't buy it anywhere. I always thought I had great attention to detail but never noticed the tops were all different and wish I had kept all of mine. Bookers is a favorite of mine too. I have too many bourbon bottles that I don't even remember by name building my collection. As bourbon became a hipster thing, I went back to my scotches.

Combusting really sucks as you keep tasting, but I think with a wipe down, maybe the glass parts, that taste will eventually go away.

Last night, I thought I'd try and do the Sticky Brick train. I went Runt, Flip, Junior, OG. I ended up getting a Maxx. Do I need a Hydro too?

It was interesting as each piece behaved differently. Runt was the easiest of them all. The intake on the Flip is a bit bigger than the Runt and Junior. I realized all of my pieces were Rock Maple except my Junior. That bummed me out, and got me to go find one in the matching wood.

The OG was something else. I was expecting bang and heat, but it was so cool for the whole session.

Unfortunately, I couldn't do anymore after 4 in a row. Try again with the Maxx next down moment I have.

I have yet to tinker with the restrictor discs. Afraid to and ruin something.
