Herb Grinders

So the new herb ripper is the ss 306? Or is it the better one? I can't find any info online. The website just says ss 300 is used. Any have any info on the grinder?
It says medical grade on the site, which usually means 316. But without explicit mention of it, there's no way to be sure really. Maybe shoot him an email?

I no longer have my SharpStone V1 and am looking for a new grinder in the vicinity of $40. 3 piece preferred, but not a deal-breaker. Best options seem to be:
  • SCS 3 Piece from PUFFITUP ~$45
  • Mendo Mulcher 3 Piece from 420EDC ~$37
  • The current Super Weapon ~$28
If I got the Super Weapon, I'd just take out the magnetic screen, but there's no specs on this grinder on the vendor's website (size, aluminum spec, etc). I'd of course love a BCG, Lift, SS HR, etc... but I don't smoke as much as I used to so I can't rationalize the cost. There's also the SharpStone V2 but I'm not sure if the quality has dropped, the SLX but I've read about the coating being overhyped, the PUCC but the only available color is red... I just want something high quality that will hold up over time and not chip or quickly wear.

You are looking at the same grinders as me. I have a chromium crusher that is 6 months old and I’ve seen shavings inside my material. The SCS is what I’m leaning towards...

I made my decision. I emailed mendomulchers and it's been over a week and I haven't heard back. I couldn't find specs for the super weapon on the vendor's website. That left the SCS, which has near unanimous praise. I purchased the medium from puffitup with a 20% coupon.

I'm sure all three are quality grinders though, and you can't go wrong with any. Cheers man.

I ordered the same in green from PIU.

New grinder just popped up on Reddit, fully stainless steel 3 or 4 piece, haven't heard of it before.
$130 4-piece, $80 3-piece.
Not much detail given but I see a replaceable screen held in by a circlip, short threading and some weird interlocking design for the actual grinder compartment.
Also can come with a quite cool stash box, $20 on it's own or $10 with the grinders, walnut or cherry cube with a swivel top like a dugout and a stainless steel insert inside.

I’ve been been wanting for a while to indulge myself with a stainless steel grinder, while there are very few stainless options, I’ve already eliminated couple (Herb Ripper) with the standard threadings (been using 1/4 turn for couple of years and love it). Another one (boomers) with teeth similar to the S&B orange grinder (Which is doing a fine job), but while I was willing to compromise on kief compartment - I’ve found out it’s grinding is very coarse and inconsistent... another stainless option - with magnets instead of threadings (unitedmachining) - for long while is out of stock.

Anyone here has ever tried the Iaso grinder and can tell it’s dis/advantages? Does it grinds coarse or fine (not mentioned on their website)? Does it needs special care maintenance?

in case there is a review here for the iaso & united machining grinders -please send me a link

cheers🙏🏼

If you haven't yet checked them out, perhaps herbripper.com will interest you. I wanted the United Machining upcoming release because of its high grade steel and threadless design, but couldn't hold out so I went with a herb ripper. I expect it to arrive today, so can't comment on it yet.

United Machining stated on Instagram that their new release is on its way though, so might be worth to wait for that. Also there's Roiel Health that posted on Instagram they got something new in the making which supposedly is coming soon.

I suggest those looking for a grinder make sure they see the size the want in person before ordering online. I ordered the medium SCS and it’s way smaller than I expected but will work for the .5 or so I grind per session.

I'm interested to see what the new United Machining grinder can do. I asked over a DM if the grind would be fine like the previous version and they answered "more coarse as well as more fine thanks to an update that will be revealed soon". Is it just interchangeable plates or do they have something fancy up their sleeves? With the magnets in the outer rim for the bottom chamber if they can manage (or beat ) the buttery smoothness of the BCG I'll be very happy. Stainless is just way more durable and I appreciate that.

They've been mentioned recently in the thread IIRC. If the keyword is too short do a web search with "fuck combustion" and the grinder name and it should come up.

I've been using the herb ripper mini for about a week now, it's my first experience with a grinder so bare that in mind while reading this post. I'm happy with my purchase, it's a well finished product that creates nice and fluffy grind in a heartbeat and it goes through herb easily, I barely have to use force to keep it spinning. The magnet for the lid works great, as does the threading of the container which is so thick and spacious I don't ever see this failing. A quick turn opens it, so take heed not accidentally opening it while grinding. It's really tiny but still plenty of space for me as I don't grind more than what I'm about to vape. As of yet it seems to stay really clean, I don't expect this to need much maintenance besides the occasional brush sweep.

The grind is probably what's considered medium and as I mentioned it's nice and fluffy. I'm getting good results with my ArGo through water. In my Splinter Z I prefer the coarser load I get from manually "plucking" the herb to a more voluminous consistency as that seems to extract with greater efficiency. Could be due to me being new to vaping ground herb though, still experimenting with what packing gives the best extraction. As for user experience I prefer it over manual preparation by a landslide. I bought it specifically for microdosing in a dynavap, which I believe for a quick extraction will benefit from a finer consistency than what my fingers create. I'm awaiting delivery though, so can't comment on that.

My experience with my Splinter Z has me curious for some of the alternative offerings on the grinder market, specifically the upcoming Roiel Health release. Their mechanism seems less volatile to the herb, especially with a coarse grinder plate. This will probably better match the manual preparation I'm used to. Also an offering that's looking at improving use of materials, like the stainless steel of the herb ripper which makes for a high end experience.

Gimmick or are they onto something? I'm intrigued.

For that price I would expect the top to be made of stainless steel and the bottom to be made of thick glass.
Interesting looks, definitely something to stare on while medicating. Will search for more information, definitely an intriguing piece of engineering

edit: found something

Yeah that's a good review and his coupon code brings the cost down to $150. Still difficult to see how the "ripcurl" functions without any good close-ups of the top.
I thought about the glass vs plastic as well. This thing really is perfect as is for people struggling with arthritis. Not worrying about dropping it definitely is an advantage.

Plastic and aluminium..great! Not a lot of use for vaping due to being overly coarse (very few vapes like a coase grind)
At US$150 to 200 I would call it more of a ripoff than a gimmick.

for people struggling with arthritis.
Get an 88mm Space Case, it won't break if you drop it and is a great size for easy gripping and grinding for those with dexterity problems as a bonus it has engraved on the lid...Made in USA.
I could not find any info on where the plastic fantastic is made.:sherlock:
88mm Space Case are not cheap but the price is US4149rrp so can be found cheaper if you shop around too.
New Rasta color avail too,

I'm very hesitant to believe the hype that a new grinder does some revolutionary job of cutting flower when others have claimed it and under micro scope (Thanks 420Vapezone!) they look the same. Most grinders are similiar whether they're cheap or expensive, it's the features and build quality you pay for. It's big, that's the most impressive feature to me and I would love to try one but I wouldn't put down the cash. The resulting grind in the video did not look consistent when he zoomed in. The Santa Cruz Shredder wins in that regard according to many (I just can't get over the 720º turning). Also, being stuck with a coarse grind without interchangeable plates is not great for me. The patent pending opening is a 1/4 turn that's present on the Lift, HerbRipper and many others. No specifics of aluminum grade, plastic bottom is food safe and very durable but they mention not using paper towel? Would that scratch it? If the bottom was glass, annealed at the very least for impact resistance I'd be very intrigued. He turned it 46 times and then up to 61 roughly before the video skips ahead to the grind which even with a lot of material seems like a lot. Good capacity to hold though. Feels like a gimmick to me.

Not in my experience. I've always manually prepared my weed which obviously results in a coarse consistency. It has given me great results in my 10 years of vaping, with each of my devices. I've recently started grinding my herb and was struggling to efficiently extract the finely (compared to what I was used to, but it's advertised as a medium grind) ground material. After some more practice, I'm getting better at it. My guess is the finer consistency benefits from a slower pull, which I had to get used to. But as for one consistency being objectively better or worse than the other, I doubt it's the case. The finer consistency does seem to make it easier to extract in less draws though, so regarding the time needed for extraction, the ground consistency wins.

I'm very hesitant to believe the hype that a new grinder does some revolutionary job of cutting flower when others have claimed it and under micro scope (Thanks 420Vapezone!) they look the same.

The microscope test included the Lift, which has a mechanism involving a blade to cut the herb up. This didn't prove to benefit the grind, but its mechanism differs from the one at hand, which seems more comparable to Roiel Health's grinder. This one also happened to get tested, but it wasn't operated as intended, so we can't really draw any conclusions based on these results.

The patent pending opening is a 1/4 turn that's present on the Lift, HerbRipper and many others.

I own a herb ripper with the supposed 1/4 threading. Though it consists of 4 threads each starting and ending at a quarter apart, the actual turn 180 degrees. Not that I mind the slightly extended movement.

I would say you are the exception to most vapers. look at how the BCG has only just made a coarse plate for their grinder and that was a special order, that said I like the coarser grind of my Space Case over the finer SL/x V2 and the very fine S&B grind, chunks are OK in my Dynavap but that is about it. I would not have any meat left on my fingers if I did not use a grinder...civilization has its perks occasionally.

Do you think that the Potent crush grinding patent similar with the groove/honeypuff grinder? 🤔
