AirVape legacy

PPN

Volute of Vapor
Now if 330 will roast nicely without massive "blackening"
of the bowl contents, then I will just use this vape at that temp
exactly what we did with the ESV, lower the temp and you are good to go!

All of the normal factors relative to convective heating are at play with this device
Although I noticed starting slow and increasing draw rate while you feel the vapor helps for big hits, again like the MiniVap does!
The Legacy does work, it is convection, and the quality is good enough.

Well, Airvape has given us a full convection device it would seem. Zero cooking of a static bowl left for a full session at 370. Now if only we could determine what temps are viable for our use without charring. All of the normal factors relative to convective heating are at play with this device. As mentioned ad nauseum throughout FC. Now if 330 will roast nicely without massive "blackening"
of the bowl contents, then I will just use this vape at that temp. The Legacy does work, it is convection, and the quality is good enough.
Now lets see the true determination of "good" as it relates to Airvape customer service.
SWEET !

I am currently trying a screen over the concave bottom of the bowl and I would recommend it. I’ve turned my temp up to 360F and have smoother hits than no screen at 345F.
At the end of my 5 minute session, stirring was much less needed besides the little bits of herb that stick to the top disk.
I highly recommend buying and cutting (if needed) a screen to put at the bottom of the chamber. Makes it much less finicky. No charring after 15 minutes at 360F. This vape just justified it’s worth of $250.

Seems like ya'll were having better results using a screen so i had to give that a whirl. It sure makes a big difference for my legacy. For the first time, I've been able to get a good rip without combustion using temps over 350F. My big complaint now is that the little top disk is already starting to clog. Maybe some one already knows the size of the micro Torx? I know it must be T1-T4.. I'll be able to borrow a cell phone repair tool kit soon and open it up.

I just use thread and a pin to clear both under and the holes.

Since many of you have had similar issues (charring, in my case COMBUSTION) I guess I could risk one more bowl worth of cannabis with a screen on the bottom.

If charring is a common issue how did AirVape do QA and not notice the issue and not give proper screens?

To those who say this is a $250 vape and worth the price I would say to you, that there are more powerful, lighter weight, convection vapes already available at that price point or below.

I will find a screen that will fit, give it a whirl at a lower temp, and report back.

Ive found a screen makes Lots of difference in the performance. No charing whatsoever. The following statement I found as funny in that its been over 2 years since having to worry about Running Out, being able to grow my own ! "I guess I could risk one more bowl worth of cannabis with a screen on the bottom." "Risking a Bowl" being the funny part ! Definitely thankful for Oklahomas Medical Marijuana program allowing me to grow up to 6 plants !! I still have jarred buds from over a year ago and am one week away from harvesting my tent grow and 7+ weeks from my closet grow. Currently have jarred, "Jack Herer, Blueberry Kush, Cherry Pie, Tangcicle, Skywalker Kush, Cheese, OG#4 and currently growing Sugar Rush & White Hot Guava ! My daughter called me a "Pot Hoarder", No, I just like Variety ! Except for the Jack Herer(last crop), theres only about 1/4-1/2 ounce of each left for Taste/Effect Variety ! SR & WHG yet to be harvested from this grow !

But I feel for you.....I went through the same thing with the Mi3 and Alpine. I am pretty much done pre-ordering for a while.

So I'm not the only one. I pre-ordered orderred the Legacy, Alpine and Mi3 as well. The Alpine is POS but it does work... just that there's no removable battery. The Mi3 is sort of meh for me. Had fun for a while but the variable performance as the battery wears down (just like any unregulated device, is kind of a bummer(but I love my Splinters) and finally there's the Legacy. This one is the winner of the pre-orders. I'll be keeping this for a quite a while

I can't grow my own but I hear you. My drawer is stocked with Wookie Girl, Gorilla Grapes, Dutch Hawaiin, Lemon OG, Colombian Gold, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Sunshine Daydream and a bunch of local hybrids: Florida Keys, Islamorada, Big Love, South Beach Sorbet and Bittersweetz. I only brought an 1/8 of each but there's no way I can get through them all and I can't legally give them away (stupid Florida medical law "Damn you Rick Scott!").

Unfortuantely for us here in Florida, homegrow won't come anytime soon...not trying to get political but the Republicans in the House even passed a 10% thc limit on flower (while still encouraging dispensaries to sell 80-90% distillate). Fortunately the Senate Republicans, and the Republican Governor had to smack them down. But those idiots tried it 2 years in a row... But right now there is 0 interest in homegrow, since they've created a cartel of 15 vertically integrated grower/dealers. Even if the Dems take the governorship next time, the leading candidate for the Dems is married to a founder of one of the cartels, so homegrow is probably a lost cause

Btw all I can say about the charring is TURN THE DAMN HEAT DOWN. Just because another vape you might have works best at 380º, doesn't mean you have to run the Legacy that high. I've had mine set at 285º the last 2 nights. I like to take long slow draws... the Firefly conditioned me for that. The Legacy excels at these low temps... well at least where I live at sea level with 55-60% humidity in the house. Also dont' be afraid to stir. Once again the firefly conditioned me to stir at least every 2 bowls, but so does my Splinter. If I'm cranking my Legacy up to 375, I'll probably stir after every bowl ... but basically the bud if is fully cooked after three long hits

How expensive was the tinymight preorder?
It was normal price, they had already made the first run, so I only had to wait 3 months for it. Not really the same situation since there were some out before I ordered it.

Yeah to be fair the TM has always been pre-order, because the weight is 4 to 6 weeks for one regardless... Not exactly the same situation as this, which was an early first run pre-order with a great discount!

On a regulated vaporizer, using it at "normal" vape temps it should NEVER be hot enough to combust.
Thank you! I have been arguing with the company about this point and getting a lot of bullshit responses. No vape should ever combust herbs, period!

Every vape I own, from the Da Buhdda to the Tiny mite can combust if you want it too. That was a completly false statement. Unless it has pre-set defined heat settings, it's up to user error.

Then I'll rephrase. Combustion on all of my vapes ( I have 10) does not occur under 400 degrees Fahrenheit. I rarely have gone higher than that so I don't know about combustion at higher temps. I have experienced combustion on the Legacy at 350. IMO that's not acceptable. The co. has advised that I take small hits at a lower temp. I think that shouldn't be required but I'll try it and see if I can enjoy the results. I am also going to insert a screen as others have suggested to see if that helps the problem.

ah ok, and I couldn't get char or combustion with mine on 350 if I tried. So there must be something calibrated wrong on yours.

Without the Screen, I CAN on mine...even at 340°F ! Since installing a screen Im running at 358°F 10 min session and without stirring I get a BIT of char by the end and I Tried to get that. Draw has A Lot to do with charring, IMO. 20200902_171155.jpgAlso, the last 2 bowls have ejected as One Piece stuck to the perforated disc ! Pic if I can get it to post. You could even pick it up as a piece !

I'm loving mine so far. However, i have noticed that it seems like when my battery is fully (or almost fully) charged, i can combust at ~340° temps. However, that doesnt happen when there is 75% or less battery left. I also mistakenly left the rubber seal (on the door side) off yesterday when using it. The clouds it produced were smaller, but there was no charring or combustion (even going to 400°+). It was also more free-flowing, and something about it reminded me of my Plenty. I'd recommend trying it without to see if you enjoy it as well!

How would you compare the vapor quality and flavor between the two?

I feel like the TM wins in every catagory aside from battery life. The TM is just a beast with either more or less upkeep than the Legacy depending on how you use it. The great thing about the Tiny mite is how little you have to clean. With the WPA and no screen you just ISO the stem once in a while, if ever. Where the legacy is a bit more of a pain to keep spotless, and there are places I'll never be able to clean.

But for battery life, the legacy blows the TM away. I get like 5 session out of a full charge with the TM and I'll go days with the Legacy on one battery. So on a trip, I take the legacy. But at home, it's the TM and a bong all day every day.

Have you put a screen at the bottom of the legacy chamber?

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. The screen does seem to help with the charring but that still needs work. I'm also going to try it without the rubber door seal and report back.

I did that as well yesterday while trying out a CBD distillate. I had forgotten that I had taken off the rubber seal and I set the vape to the highest temp. I was wondering why it took a while for it to fully kick in and it was messy in a whole lot of areas. Needless to say, I had to do some Legacy cleaning today before work. lol

I'm still messing around with temperatures and how I'm packing the bowls.
Sometimes I get whispy vapor and other times I get fuller vapor. I can't complain because I'm still feeling the effects quite nicely even if it's whispy.
