Healthy Rips FURY EDGE

Sorry to be another “just got my edge” post but wanted to ask about the wax pad thing.
How do you guys set this up?(can’t be used with a dosing capsule right?)
I’m worried the wax will drip through if I put it in the chamber. Or do you guys sandwich wax between weed?
Also what temps do you use for wax?
I don't have a Fury, but Mighty has very similar pads. I put the pad right in the chamber, though S&B also makes smaller pads that fit in the capsules, so whichever way yours fit, I imagine is how to go...just put a shmear of wax on the pad.

I do also worry about concentrates dripping through the pad, but this seems minimal, the oils kinda cling to the pad's metal. Because of my concern, I tend to only use with a wpa and water piece, so the vape is inverted. Water helps also because high temps are the way to go with wax (personal preference). More often I'll use a Terp Pen for wax.

I am envious and enjoy hearing you guys say "got my new vape!" and I secretly wish for some vape of mine to fail so I could justify a 420 Edge!

I just tried my RYOT Packratz case that I used for my Crafty which I’m intending to gift. It’s a great fit!

It holds the Edge with the bent stem installed, the charging cord, and needed cleaning accessories.

I think I’m done “shopping” for a case. This one seems perfect.

Close to time to enjoy. I want to give the glass stems a quick iso soak.

Can the other pieces be soaked in iso; o ring and/or mouthpieces?

The rings and glass are fine, avoid ISO soaks with the plastic parts. You might consider PBW, Powdered Brewery Wash, a 'super detergent' as opposed to a solvent used (as the name implies) in Breweries to clean the very sort of junk out of the works they can't get to physically. Fine on the plastic parts. Cheaper, easier to get, non flammable, gets stuff technically cleaner (sanitary even.....). You use it a pinch at a time, a pound jar lasts many years. Stuff's even got it's own thread.....55 pages of thread:
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/pbw-the-chemistry-of-clean.7854/

Also what temps do you use for wax?

It seems most of your questions have been ably addressed. The key is, I think, not to overload the pad. And bump the temperature up a bit. I go as much as 20F to get the replacement heat in in a reasonable time. Taste suffers of course.

On the 'make a sandwich' part, that's well worth trying, but using cotton, not herb as 'packing'. It's stable at vaping temperatures (won't decompose or burn), basically an inert sponge around the goods in case a leak happens? Cheap, easy, and worth a try?

Regards to all. Stay isolated until the madness passes.....

Thank you for the info. I totally get what you mean about having an excuse to buy a new toy lol. I look forward to breaking this baby in today.

So all stems and Adapter fits also at the other brands coming from the fenix Mini?

I don't know about that, never used any other rebrand, the mouthpiece and accessory attachment may not fit, however the fury 2 glass stems might? Check those threads maybe?

5. Anyone turn off between pulls?

I remember @abracadaver used to do that with the fury 2, sort of on demand style (not actually though), they would set it above 400 and hit it as it heated up, turning it off shortly after if reached temp, hitting it again to clear, so 1-3 hits in 30sec or so... This may not be efficient for the battery (or even the herb) as OF explained however... I would use as intended, full session.

I've been enjoying my new toy these past few days.

For the past couple years, I've used my stock Fury 2 (plastic mp, no capsules) out-and-about to death. Though it's going strong, it is falling apart so I thought I'd try the Edge 420 deal through HR.

So, this would be my portable vape (to replace the Fury). It will also temporarily do double-duty as my at-home vape as I've sold my SSV and my miniVap is falling apart and is a bit much for the small amounts I'm currently consuming. Since lockdown, I dusted off my rarely-used Arizer Air I like the AA stems with a tophat screen to eliminate the need for stirring. I managed to rig the stem into an 18mm OGB tall bent mouthpiece.

As I've been on lockdown (and even back in the before time I mostly vaped at home), I was looking for an at-home portable with desktop like power. So, I was looking at the Splinter Z, P80, and induction heater+DV. I kept baulking - mostly due to cost and complexity.

So, for now it's my sole vape and DD. I first reached for the bent mp and capsules setup and haven't looked back. I couldn't bring myself to direct loading upon seeing the shiny new oven (vs my perma-stained Fury oven) so thought I'd give the capsules a go. They are well made and about as un-fiddly as could be. Certainly, for on-the-go I see their use. At home, I still like them as the size matches my dosing and I'm still precious with my new toy.

I like the black mouthpiece's tight fit, colour, ergonomics, and feel. I don't see myself using the 3D stem or WPA for my current use: at home 99.9% and no water piece apart from little hydro tubes. The 3D stem is tiny and ideally I'd prefer bent (like lemart's bent spiky stem) as I'm a drooler and prefer the bent ergonomics.

So, is there an even easier way to achieve what I want: bent mp with adequate cooling; no fuss, no muss loading without staining the oven? I didn't really think so until I saw @Shit Snacks post about the Fury bent mouthpiece. That appeals for at-home. I like stem systems. Also, it looks longer for more cooling.

I see that "you can use your FURY 2 glass stems inside the FURY EDGE chamber without the accessories attachment - just as you would with the FURY 2." How's the fit? How about the capacity? Also, does the oven stay pretty clean?

I do like the black mp and see that the Fury 2 bent mp was offered in grey so might try to source that.

To make the shipping worthwhile, I'll also order another set of capsules for some future life beyond my apartment.

Anyway, long post w/o much content! I guess I'm looking for reassurances as I spend yet more $ on accessories. AAS is real!

I've definitely enjoyed how CIVILIZED this little thing is. It's holding its own as my lone vape. (Though for sure VAS is real and the P80 and Fluxer are still on my radar). HR has made some thoughtful tweaks to what was already a great little portable.

Please merge
EDIT. found the answer to my questions:
I may just have to check out one of the healthy rips models. They do come highly recommended. I'm thinking The Edge

Just curious here.... how does the Fury glass mouthpiece in the Edge... make things better... least that's what I interpreted.. lol

Better is subjective, but it makes it work just like an Arizer, load stem and insert into bowl. I like it for purer path, taste, easier to keep clean, smaller bowl, and other potential advantages.

Yeah it may fit a little looser in the edge, like you don't need to heat it up insert/remove like you do with the F2. btw puffitup sells an even longer glass bent stem that has spikes...

I did take my new Edge for a test drive yesterday using the bent glass mouthpiece.

My brief/short comments are that it was a joy. It’s such a nice and easy to use vape.

I’ll also admit that I have been (non-covid) sick for a while and have been away from vaping for about the last month.

My great unknowns are how many pulls from a half filled oven at 380 degrees should I expect. Is there a taste degrade that is a clear tip off?

Is there an easy way to micro dose? I’ve been living in the land of pure convection and have been away from session vapes for quite a while. Micro dosing in the Edge May solve that for me.

I can’t believe what a great value all HR vapes are. I just love the build quality and ease of use. Having said that, I need to learn or find a way to more easily remove the mouthpiece attachment. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

And the RYOT packratz holds the Edge and needed accessories perfectly.

Needless to say, I’m a happy camper.

My fantasy (not having one of these vapes, but having used an F2 w/bent stem) is the Edge with and F2 stem. Those stems, as has been said lately, do fit direct into the Edge's bowl. They have a built in screen and as-is they are a fairly small capacity. I think that one of those could just be half-packed and work very well. Also pretty similar to the "covection"* types you've been using.

(Gotta put convection in " " in this thread! :myday:)

Damn, great minds think alike.... LOL I went to puffitup about an hour ago and they were out of the Edge so I went straight to healthyrips.com and got mine. Nice thing about that is because they take Paypal.

Got a free black stem and 15% off. Not bad. Waiting for my order confirmation as we speak.

Thanks for that! Got one on order now. Same price that Pufitup was selling it for.
Note the accessories attachment comes with the Fury Edge bundle. (I almost ordered an extra one by mistake.) I got a free WPA attachment with mine.

I actually like the Healthy Rips deal better as I was going to order a WPA attachment anyway, and Healthy Rips saved me a little coin by throwing it in for free.

Healthy Rips gives you a choice of one of these free attachments:

Glass WPA
Bent Glass Mouthpiece (Black)
Shred Grinder 2.25 Edition

420. Best day of the year.

Been using a convection on demand vape eh? Sounds like a Ghost. Is that what you've been using as I was waiting to buy a Ghost on 420 until they went under. How does the Edge compare to what you've been using?

Ghosts are still available right now for a little over $115-120, but I'm a bit hesitant to drop money on something that will be orphaned and somewhat fragile. Bought an Edge just now on a friend's advice, but I'll pick up a Ghost too if its worth taking the chance on it.

As long as you don't mind stirring a hot crucible to get full extraction and are careful of the door latch, the MV1 is a nice vape providing exceedingly cool clean flavorful hits. But, those two things are enough for me not to recommend it and the reason I'm shopping for another vape.

Oh I like the look of that longer spikey stem, but in the end I went with the plain Fury bent stem and another set of dosing capsules. Much cheaper as the shipping is within Canada. Thanks Shit Snacks.

I should be done with my Edge purchasing (bent black mp, bent Fury stem, 3D stem, WPA, and 2 sets of dosing capsules, as well as the plastic and short glass mouthpieces that come with the Edge).

I expect to be rocking the Edge with Fury stem setup until I venture outside. Out-and-about I'm not sure if I'll prefer the stock plastic mp or the black bent stem.

I'm happy I dealt with these purchases without too much stress. Now I can kick back with my CIVILIZED setup and lots of time and ganja to just be...
and ponder a desktop-like portable (P80) in my future.

I’ve been using a Splinter, which I’ve really been enjoying. If I had good batteries I’d be using a grasshopper and sometimes I do, milking my weak batteries. Personally, I’d stay away from Ghost since the company folded unless you can steal it since it will be a throw away.

By comparison, the Edge has great build quality from a company with very responsive customer service. I see the Edge as a perfect compliment to my pure convection vapes. Convection vapes are one-and-done vapes that you can return to at your leisure. My Splinter does work best with a stirring (I’ve read that I could avoid this if I changed my settings which I haven’t figured out yet). The grasshopper is super fast and simple but it’s flavor is not as good as the Splinter or Edge.

The Edge is cool and flavorful. And super easy to use. It seems to be designed more as a session vape (like the Mighty and Crafty) rather than a one-and-done vape but there seems to be variables that will let me use it more like s convection vape. I need to play with load size and other options. I think it will be a fun journey. I’ve officially retired my Crafty and Firefly.

The Healthy Rips has it for $125 shipped with 1 free attachment. I just received mine yesterday, I am upset it took so long for me to make the purchase. This little thing is a monster. Very happy so far.
Got mine too. On first use I realized I waited too long to buy this and I immediately started realizing I have a few vapes I can sell now. I'm pretty sure this is now my daily driver.

Any advice on flavor chasing? I’ve had a few seshes through my edge now but am not liking the flavor. I’m at 360,using dosing capsule and the glass mouthpiece. The first hit is somewhat tasty with no cloud and the following hits are more cloud but no flavor. In comparison, the dynavap blows the edge out of the water flavor wise. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?

for best flavor in this vape use the glass only attachments ... I mean the ones that slip into the herb chamber ( Fury 2 attatchments ) ... some people do not have any Fury2 gear and the attatchments that come with the Edge are all over the chamber connection ... even still those are glass too ... I'd say the metal dose capsule could be masking the flavor .. not sure on that though . this vape is really efficient and starts vaping quickly so the flavors will not be there that long after you start to vape
Edit - maybe vape @ a lower temp than 360 and see if that works then bump up temp to finish it off

Thanks for the advice. I’m new to the battery vaoes so I guess I thought leaving it on one temp was my only option. Definitely going to try this progressive temp tech and starting lower

I only use the dosing caps. Some folks say that you have to use higher temps with them. I don't know. I do know my own routine: I do a couple of hits at 365, a couple of hits at 385, and then a finish hit or two at 410.

I start at 320 with the capsules, temp step by ~15 as vapor thins, ending around 390. I start a little higher, like 340 with Fury2 bent stem in oven. Caps need a little more time to get going, stem gets vapor instantly (even if I start lower)

I'm loving mine. I'm using caps and low temps. I just dumped ABV earlier and it was still greenish. I coulda kept going. That was my first cap tho. I'm gonna have to learn my routine to find the spent taste. Lol. I need to try the fury glass. Don't have it yet.

I rarely start above 345! Yes I am a flavor chaser, but you still get great clouds and oh so smooth!
