Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
She mentioned putting a bent screen in the tip but not the mouthpiece.

That's where I'm having an issue. Because of the force of the draw, even with the carb wide open, there's no way to avoid the glass beads all being drawn into the mouthpiece opening short of using another screen or something similar to block that as well.

I was afraid of that before I even put the beads in but I was hoping for the best anyway.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ LOL

Happy Vaping! :leaf:

I don't think it's worth messing with now. The inside of my Robusto would end up looking like a junkyard. A gallant effort.
It was my ice stem from epicvape that got me thinking about it, but they flattened the mouthpiece after inserting the beads, which solves most issues.

My world got rocked Wednesday, tho, when my state went legal rec. I haven't been inside a store yet (lines too long) but Y'all can make a recommendation on the best concentrates to try on the Dynacoil and help me bust my cherry.

Congratulations. When the lines settle down and stock gets replenished, you have a lot of options in the concentrate world. Maybe start with something that would be easy to load and melt into the coil like some rosin, budder or sugar wax. Most of your concentrates should work nicely. I wouldn't put any kief or pressed hash in there as that would gum it all up.

Consider whether you want an indica, hybrid, etc, and then go with your gut.

Congrats @cybrguy ! Now that you are legal, you don’t have to look over your
Shoulder no mo. :cheers::spliff:

There is one sobering thought. Once the lines are down, and the wait time is shorter, you
May find the corporate merchandise a bit pricey, and the quality, meh. Governmental dictates. :hmm:

At least the legal system won’t be as draconian.

While it may very well function, doesn't it kinda defeat the purpose of the VapCap?
If one wants to do this I would think that something like the Daisy or the SB makes much more sense. Personally I'm not really a fan of breathing butane exhaust but I recognize (by the sales of SB) that that may be just me...
I wouldn't say it defeats the purpose, just augments the experience (as you say, much like the woodscents). @phattpiggie 's dip and sip technique defeats the point of the cap too.. as I keep telling him, he might as well go buy a pax

You could buy a standalone unit like a SB, but this is a good way for existing DV users to try out that style of vaping without committing to buying a whole new setup. And if you're like me, and only like inhaling butane every once in a while, it saves on the cost and maintenance of a whole separate device etc.

I can't really respond to the butane exhaust comments without going off topic and pissing off the pakman, so you can go unchallenged on that one :D

Butane is not tasty to me at all.... but it is for you?

Or are you being facetious?
Whether you think I'm being facetious or not would depend on if you consider inhaling heat and potentially fumes from a butane flame as a serious issue, and I'm not sure this is the place to discuss the wider virtues of this method of vaporisation.. it was probably a bit flippant tho, apologies if it offended anyone.. I've removed it now :)

They make flameless torches where most uncombusted butane is expelled from the sides and the direct heat is pushed through a ceramic element for more complete combustion. I know it stinks of butane but that might be a little better that a direct flame. Uncombusted butane gives me a headache. I use this for surface mount soldering on occasion with lots of ventilation;

Not all torches are created equal. Look for the ceramic element instead of a steel mesh of sorts.

I like using the smaller screen settings from time to time, but I have found that the screens eventually stop sitting properly in the grooves. Seems like handling them too much causes them to fall out of shape. Not a huge deal, but it does cause me to go through screens more quickly.
If you have a couple of tips do what I do. Have one dedicated tip for each setting e.g 1 set at half bowl, one at 3/4 bowl and lastly full bowl. Don't play with them once in the correct position and you won't have too many issues. If you use whole nugs you can leave the screen out altogether.

You guys are right, of course, defeats the purpose is way too strong. The VapCaps are a lot more than just the cap. But I will still pass on butane exhaust consumption if/when I can. I doubt I would turn that baby down if passed to me at a gathering, but given all the other methods I would not be a buyer of that style device. I get enough shit for passing on joints these days since giving up combustion.

Gotcha Boss. :)
Thanks, just ordered some up!!!
Just so you know that for me the best way to be sure I won't need something is to buy a bunch of backup...

Can't tell you what a relief that is. Unless you already know.

I have been looking forward to trying concentrates for a long time now, but never saw them other than home made stuff.

So, the more fluid stuff is better with the Dynacoil. That makes sense. When I finally get in a store I hope they still have a range of options. That Dynacoil has been calling to me...

@cybrguy, it's not that it needs to be fluid at room temp. Some initial heat will melt solid concentrates into the coil. It's just that some concentrates are easier to handle and apply than others. I don't like shatter because it splinters like glass and can be hard to use. At the same time, some of my rosins can be quite runny and I find this makes a sticky mess trying to put it on the dynacoil. I have gotten sappy rosin on the outside of the tip and makes a mess you have to clean. I prefer forms like pull and snap, and waxes which are easier to cleanly transfer from a conc jar to a small atty or the dynacoil.

Sneaky Pete's video on the dynacoil is a good one. He shows how to apply the concentrate and also proves that once heated, the conc melts into the grooves of the dynacoil but doesn't drip down into the condenser.

@cybrguy I look forward to hearing all about it. Both the coil and the queues.
Concentrate exclusive for a fair while now. Never thought I'd ever see the day that I'd turn my nose up at weed, can't cope with the lingering smell.

This is the reclaim after running well over a gram and a half of badder and diamonds 'n" sauce through a slimline condenser.
Ti, IH powered and vaped in rayon.
IMG-20200105-185518-741.jpg

You can see the clarity of the reclaim and I'm not shy about pushing heat into the tip. I'm hoping it's a sign that the rayon isn't breaking down.

@BabyFacedFinster shatters ping off all over the place and you find little bits stuck to your hands or the surface you cut it over or your socks.
@emmdeemo gave me a great tip, warm your dab tool then cut into it.

Rayon's a good idea. It's been my wicking material of choice for years in e-cigs. Very scorch-resistant, imparts no flavor IME. I've still not tried concentrates. I do have a dynacoil, but will also try your method when I get some.

I actually had some shatter once but lost it. I still search for it sometimes but I seriously think a mouse got it.

Dang! Been in the garage the last few days making tools like a f@#$%&g elf before Christmas and this thread is like three more pages!!

I have never put any balls in any of the glass stems except for the OG one which I used 8mm balls. The 6mm are too small and always clog the tip without a screen.

@phattpiggie @Padriano @davesmith the butane attachment is brilliant. I dont mind sucking in butane on occasion.

They are the only 2 methods I use and I like them both. My IH is plug in so it stays home and I use a torch when out and about. Some use a candle or an oil lamp, but I haven't the patience for that, tho I have used a campfire. I don't find any difference in taste or effect between them, tho the IH is more consistent until you get good with a torch.

Is an induction heater the best alternative to butane? Are there any noticeable difference in taste, effect, etc. between the two heating methods?

In my opinion: yes, there is. Dynavaps use both conduction and convection for vaporizing the material, more precisely conduction while you heat the cap and convection while you take your draw. Since the heat up time usually is quite a bit shorter with an IH (apparently not with all IHs, though), there will be less conduction and more convection. I won't go into detail how that affects the vapor, flavor and overall experience, because everyone will have a different opinion on how those two heating methods treat said aspects, but for me it actually makes a huge difference. And while I personally prefer IHs, I still understand why many even prefer using the default torch method although it might appear less convenient.

There is also the log option using adapters. That may negate the cap completely. Not fully up on it but there are hints in the development threads.

I was thinking a special stem for using a Tinymight as an intelligent log. Got laughed at :hmm: go figure.

Basically a controlled heat source should be able to do a heck of a conduction vape out of vapecap. Will let you know when I get there.

You forgot 'last laugh'

The idea is valid though. Having a constant heat source capable of keeping up with the draw rate (:lmao:) should move the balance of convection/conduction significantly.
And people are doing it. But I think the TM can be a Smart-Log being a portable and all.

Looking for a way to vape kief - I love a nice kief bowl without flower (my version of concentrates haha)

Quickly searched this thread for kief. Some mention it works great. Some mentions it will gum up the innards (?)

What’s the experience of puffing a 100% kief bowl/cap (?) like?

*vas theme song plays in background*

edit - perhaps a tiny bit of flower and then a 95% kief bowl?

I draw on duff which is up to 30% kief from some top shelf buds. No gumming up the works but a lot of dust on the walls of the draw straw. Dusts off quickly but yea, raw duff in the honey. I can see it on my 4" glass tube.

Keif can vape...but mixing it with a small amount of flower helps with the airflow.
