Discontinued Zion vaporizer

@Shit Snacks - since we live pretty close we should get together sometime and make this comparison happen...pm me if your interested

Ah maybe some day man, definitely too soon at the moment. But hey might as well add MistVape to that list too ;) Can tell you all right now though those are both 14mm and Zion is 18mm, capable of a much bigger bowl and more battery life for one thing.

@WakeAndVape oh yes, Zion goes to 11

Hey @phattpiggie my vapman got worked over quite well while I waited for my Zion to re-enter my world. And as you might of guessed it I'm going to use the vapman for what I bought her for,Keif and when times are tight and supply is very low. The vapman can't be beat in those instances. IMO.The Zion will be my daily driver.

My only issue with the vapman is I end up using it too much. That and a couple blisters. That little vaporizer will bring tears to your eyes in more ways then 1.Its a power house.

The Zion is just all around easier to use and to be able to produce huge clouds. Or get huge mouth and lung full of the tastiest herb that an 18 mm stem can provide. Your choice. For me I don't have the luxury to make my sessions turn into a 30 min. relaxing high. Wish I did. I have to get it up to temp and grab it while I have the time.
This thing can deliver. The thing I enjoy the most is I'm in control of the heat and at the same time its like there is a "cruise control" type feature with the power knob. It will only get as hot as you allow there to be power. Pretty cool. So no matter who is drawing you decide how much heat they can or cannot handle. I've yet to put her through water yet but it's def. on my list.

Do any of you Zion testers also have a Firewood 3? I'd love to read a comparison of those 2 vapes.
I'm working of a review of the FW3 that I'm almost done with; collecting some final details. I plan on doing the same for the Zion. I can't speak for Zion owners, so I can't make a comparison yet. I personally think the FW3 has the worst draw speed of any vaporizer I've used, however
Don't get me wrong, It's a powerful little vape that does what I want it to. ...mostly: I'm usually short of breath by the time I get a full hit. I hear from other FW3 users that the draw speed is noticeably reduced from previous models. Without getting off topic, I want to state that it does fulfill a defined role for me and the younguns at work think it looks like a mod box and the cops don't even look twice.

@HD Springer has me really interested because only my desktop vape works the way he describes. I have a shitty lung capacity from smoking so much.

Yeah my lung capacity is admittedly fairly shitty, why vaping is so much better than smoking for me, but I have no trouble pulling dense cloudy puffs of vapor quick and small if I want or need to (get some big ones too). Yet if you do have the lungs you can really fog a room...

EDIT and insanely smooth through my Evolver HydraTree using one of @Ratchett's SonGs on the Zion stem in Ziggy since I don't have the right glass adapters yet. Wow two hits stronger than i realized, seriously like two instant Evo hits with a button and dial set quite low...

Oh man... Drooling.
Would you have the chance (if permitted on this stage of "beta" that short to the release) of shooting a vid of it in use? Would ease the urge :)
If not just enjoy Zionism - I'll be in the chapel too some day, the wait only makes us stronger. This is the power of the Cult. :ninja:

Btw I'm coming by train ;)
Choo chooooo :D

Unfortunately I have yet to make any kind of video anywhere and doubt I will begin now, but I have heard from a little (rather big) birdy that a proper video should be coming soon...

But yeah water is definitely helping me get to some big smooth hits out of both Ziggy and Zenon with all of my glass already, though I need to have some proper adapters made by @Oregonglassblower so they're the right type of us 18mm joint and long enough so hydratube and bubblers can all be cleared...

Anyway I actually just tried the crank it up method, which I could do on just 75% in Zig bc hes just so fucking hawt (production will be close, but a bit below so there is more of a range), and its pretty insane. Just a half bowl basket screen style in a short stem first hit no preheat yielded a huge thick cloud in seconds, stopped just in time before any char could happen, only a couple tiny specs of herb got fully extracted and the rest still golden green. Didn't even need to cough, tasty smooth straight head hit, this is basically the on demand convection instant one-hitter mode whereas before I was doing more on demand convection temp stepping session mode.

So this was the full quick rip vs the relaxed slow sip, it works phenomenally and probably better overall for battery and herbal efficiency though those are already so high regardless. This is probably more like how the single battery manual unit will work, probably even hotter and faster (I need to try higher on Zig's dial...), perfect for an out and about stealth portable. What's great about the Zion though is the versatility to do either, it gives you more tools to slow things down to the perfect pace for whoever is hitting it. There are learning curves for any manual vape, especially pure convection, but Zion just gives you so many tools to overcome them for any user.

The first production quality unit with final heater design is on it's way... Nothing more to add, nothing more to take away, the Zion has reached it's design entitlement. Not a perfect vaporizer, but it is a perfect Zion. Thanks to all who have helped to make the Zion a reality. @stickstones I hope you enjoy her.

Woot I can finally post. Otherwise it would be just an anticipation post which is useless and stressful for all. The design is DONE DONE? Now its just make a shitload and get those puppies out? I've given up on convection for now using a conduction convection hybrid, and that with the cold weather is just tearing my throat apart. The zion is exactly what the doctor prescribed.

But I like it!
Now we can finally start working on a design mod thats been rattling around - something where the unit has a tub feeding a full face helmet, with the trigger remote-mounted on the dash of the ATV, or a button on the jacket, and the body protected from the jarring bashes and full frontal snowdrifts, which is the reason for the full face helmet to start with - plowing snow!

A couple of years ago I was trying to figure out a no-hands solution for mowing the lawn - the best answer at the time was an INH05 in chest pocket and a whip going up, like a Camelbak. But instant-on gives so many more solutions! Plus onboard power means we could have a days-long session. That would be a bit of a mess... maybe just a couple of hours?

PS - I'm pretty medicated right this minute. Hopefully the above makes a bit of sense? If not just pretend it's in code!

Congrats to the Zion team for all there hard work and sterling effort, with the production units ready to be released in the near future I can foresee you guys running 24/7 to keep up with production units for us all. Is there any change in the international shipping policy, as in will you be looking to send units far and wide (wider than the u.s anyway)?

Yes to all a happy new year. 2015 was the year of development and 2016 is all about production.

The last 100 pages or so proof of the Z-team's efforts to ensure the Zion has addressed even the smallest detail prior to launch. It was a pleasure to take the time to allow the Zion to become what the beta team wanted it to be. Isn't that what beta is about? Real customers, real feedback, real positive change in the product.

@stickstones will report when he has had some time but I expect him to say the improvements that the team have made compared to Sara are noticeable. It's a great feeling to deliver to these guys what they asked for.

6 units are on deck, three for Z-team members and three for the first three customers. What a great way to start 2016.

I requested to be added to the waiting list a while back, will I be getting an email once the preorders are shipped out or is there another list I need to be on?!

I'm rocking a beta unit with a production heater tuned a bit on the cooler side. Just a tiny bit cooler. And I'm here to say if RBT wants his beta unit back he's in for a world of pain. He can have it when he pry's my dead cold hands from around this wooden beautiful birthmarked body. "Jk". As My six year old says.
In all seriousness I'm very very impressed with the sessions I've been having. Only one time have I even come close to combustion.

What I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around is the smoothness of the hits. It's like my lsv on steroids with a GREAT attitude. I'm beginning to wonder if RBT didn't sell his soul over to the devil to get this Zion to where she is. Sure RBT will tell you that the Zion is not a perfect vaporizer. What the hell would be a perfect vaporizer?
I can't wait to find out what that "hell" is.

Do you know what percentage of combustion you came close to?

Anything under 5.7% is negligible imo.

JK! ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist!

It certainly sounds like you're having a good time with the new Zion (the block).

Keep up the good work HD.

And RBT, your updates just keep getting better & better! 3 lucky lifetime cult members are ready to recieve their Zions you say?!

:whoa:

Ahhhh sweet (20)16.

Happy New Year Everyone!
