Discontinued Zion vaporizer

Definetly the higher the temp the better. Would be cool if the dial had the normal range of temp control motion with a small click past high that throws it into high temp boost mode.

I for one would love to vape lower temp botanicals too... Lavender that @RastaBuddhaTao does like also as I know... So I think it's low temp enough.

I'd like to absolutely agree with these two! A little click into super crazy boost mode would be warning enough for me as a noob only vaping flowers. Especially the more delicate flowers. This is so exciting!! :science:

Meh, just give me a single button, and a fire extinguisher :evil:

Nah, just kidding.
As soon as RBT makes a single batt with a power dial, I'll be joining that train too!
I learned my lesson from the whole mighty/crafty ordeal...

Much rather have 2 batteries and a wider range or ease of use.

Now if there were a switch to swith between low temp and high temp mode in addition to the knob

Not to derail, but (in the context of this discussion) am I right to assume that the unregulated models like the TOD and USB are 100% of the power that the heater is capable of, when the button is pressed, for as long as it's pressed?

Close, but it is a rising temp as long as the button is pressed. It is going from zero to extremely high in a curve upwards that levels out more the more its held but still climbs. The dial is controlling the rate. So TOD/USB always go as fast as possible, more raw power by default, like max temp on the dial kinda.

Well The new Zion heater is worth the wait. Damn it's impressive @RastaBuddhaTao. I can tell you my grandma friend can blow HAAAUGE clouds with the Zion. She wouldn't let me leave last night. All she wanted to do was load more stems and crank out big clouds. She had a friend there that's in her early 40's that was getting the same great results who has never even seen a vaporizer. What scarred the living hell out of me was after her second giant hit she told me she has a pace maker in. And she wouldn't quit hitting it. I need more testing naturally. But it had a great opening night.

That line is what let's me know it's going to be the truth...that made my retail inspired christmas. Now Vapesmas (AKA the 4/20 vape tour) will be that much better...

It's the day I combustion fucking tutorials...the crafty and the mighty have held the ease of use crown. Other vapes seem to take some patience, draw technique or a too many actions to win people over.

At this point i am just talking out my ass because I haven't touched the zion...But my educated guess says that the mighty will be collectg dust in the near future.

@HD Springer my defibrillator/pacemaker has not skipped a beat, so to speak, during Zion testing. Warning do not attempt this at home without seeking professional medical advice :science:

Yes my man! Fun holiday testing!

My brothers who were with me during Zig's July 4th beach inauguration are pulling better clouds than me even as expected, being older longtime combusters (they have an xmax and GH coming). I've got a lot to say, but more testing to do as always (is that the Z team motto? We just dont want to stop testing it...)

@RastaBuddhaTao I forget where HD is tuned?

So without further ado, once again introducing Ziggy Sawdust (now with a new matching clear bowl in place of his former green) on the left, and baby sister Zenon the Zequel on the right:
kpxa5tm.jpg

Zig & Zen (don't mind her slight facelift, due to excessive tinkering, production will be clean ofcourse), he runs too hot and she runs too cool, but both equally effective it seems with variances in range. Production should be somewhere in between and pretty perfect it seems based on my experience with these two sides of a coin, like Fire and Ice themed... Dang too late to change the names? (or wood) :ko:

Anyway beneath them is their lids, then Zen's stir rod (which is glorious btw), a new long straight stem with screen adjust a bowl style for max full joint load (can work with less in it too) and the bottom has an old long stem. In between them are the old screens on the left and the new production screens on the right. I have an old screen inserted basket style in the green long stem now (haven't tried it yet), in Zen's new clear short stem (which I accidentally cracked dropping but still works fine and has an amazing flame polish on its mouthpiece) has a new screen inserted basket style, seems even better for small loads and even full basket to glass, inserted with a cm of glass so its still glass on heater screen as it should be. The original green short stem in Zig has a new screen inserted adjust a bowl style but halfway in the joint, maybe more even, so a smaller bowl but wider diameter than basket style. Actually these screens have wider diameter anyway, versatile and perfect for adjust a bowl aka standard style, tight fit and a near flat ss mesh surface with glass walls for the bowl... Very very nice, medium consistent grind with three different but nice crystally dense herbs, and golden brown avb (no water yet so mostly not taking it too dark yet) basically going great emis all I'll say for now, always so much more testing to focus on;):brow::whoa::freak:

Thanks again Santa RBT for making sure 2016 will be a happy happy new year for us all! (ok right now mostly me and HD :D but soon Sticks Kero and all the rest! :tup::rockon:

I'm so happy for you @Shit Snacks, you must be grinning from ear to ear!

What a beautiful pair you've got there! Like Bonnie & Clyde - that's one tag team that'll put you on yer arse!

And Ziggy - the second coming - resurrected and return-ed at Christmas time, to remind us all that even in the darkest of hours, the light of eternal life will always shine brightest, and will ultimately guide us home.

So welcome back Mr. Ziggy Sawdust!!!
Johnny was over the moon to hear that his long lost brother is happily back where he belongs - in Shit's loving arms :tup:

And I can't wait to hear more impressions of Zen. She is looking like one sexy assassin of a vape! Hold on tight there bud!

Our futures are looking extremely foggy . . . .

long straight stem with screen adjust a bowl style for max full joint load
I smiled after reading this. It made me happy because I can go back to saying "I'm gonna have a joint".
Dammit, just dropped my long stem while typing this! Sooo...now I'm having a joint in my shorty stem. Maybe I'll have it made into a new style MP.

Still smiling though...it's a Zion kind of day.

Nice pic shit's. I was happy to see the comparison of the 2. I'm getting really good results with all my testing so far. I've taken her to the extreme. And I've yet to combust. I came damn close. Real close. And yet I've tried the cooler side of it.
One thing I was doing with my grandmother friend and her friend was having them hold the button for a couple seconds before drawing on it. They are smokers and have little to no lung capacity. With them holding the button down before pulling they get big clouds. Both of them were getting big hits that made them both cough and blow smoke from their nose,mouth,eyes,ass and well you name it. Both had trouble with the low temp hits because they didn't think they were getting any thing without seeing the vapor trail. As soon as I cranked it up(75%-85%)they were getting big hits and totally destroyed.
I think that the happy spot for myself will be around the 65%-90% power range. It's probably going to be ran at the upper end of power. This morning I hit it after it had been left outside in the garage. The battery's were just put in it the night before and my Zion came to life with no trouble. Those battery's lasted about 3 more stems. 6 total.
This evening it kept me Very well medicated on shortened sessions due to time restraints with the wife's family.

Look I know people are looking for good and the bad,and it looks like I'm sugar coating it all. Truth be told I have no gripes. It's perfect for my needs.

Ah thanks @VegNVape and Johnny5, it truly is wonderful to be back to business proper again (even if I cant quite support the ironic Christ metaphors! :lol:) and truly better than ever now wielding dual new production internals...

yeaaaaaaaah @DieHard! I've actually come around on the standard adjust a bowl style now. Having had cause for a full 'joint' yet but using the green short stem at half joint is working so well with my medium fine grind (corse worked as well but less even). Baskets work too ofcourse, maybe better for tiny loads as I've said, but I think I am ready to fully endorse standard adjust a bowl style with these new flatter screens as it is a very versatile and effective set up, makes a good bowl.

Even in Ziggy running hot I haven't combusted at all, nor in Zen (who I've been favoring lately to test, and she still works great despite being cooler. More preheat at first, and different dial, but with heatsoaking doesn't miss a beat!), nor have my brothers. I am taking it easy more or less as I did at first with Zig though... Even so I am getting similar thorough extraction with both despite their difference. Ziggy is just a bit quicker, Zenon just a bit slower, both effective on demand or sessioned in round the house stealth mode over the long weekend, confined to a bedroom during the day or late night use.

Sure am glad I brought both, was good for testing and enjoyment, even if one would have been more than enough... Can't wait to get back home for more full on testing :brow:

@MrPeanut just left the lab after extensive testing of the final heater configuration.

The final temperature range is broad @

@0% - 275F
@25% - 325F
@50% - 350F
@75% - 375F
@100% - 400+F
Overdrive - 500+F

This profile enables both low end temperature sensitivity as well as the full 50 Watts of power at the top end. Truly the best of both worlds.

Weewwheeeeewwww!!! This looks flavor town promising - and my other botanicals will surely reach their own sweet spots when making love with the Zion! :D

Are these ranges defined by a standard pre heat time or something?

Great, great, great - thanks for the update @RastaBuddhaTao. Hope you had a great Christmas time.

I can almost hear the Zion train coming!! Choo choooooo :)

And for those of us who fully embrace the metric system.
0%=135C
25%=163C
50%=177C
75%=190C
100%=204+C
Overdrive=260+C

I have to admit once I converted the figures to Celsius I thought wow 0-25% is low. Then I remembered when my Titan 2 worked I would often start out at around 145C/290F. Some of those low temp flavors were great to experience along with a nice clear buzz.
The range suits the needs of all. If you use botanicals the low temps are at your disposal.
If you need to de-stress after a hectic day you can load a dab of something tasty hit it on Overmuthafukindrive and the day will just melt away.

All great progress @RastaBuddhaTao and what a way to round out a fantastic year.
Now all is needed is for a great big box of CE stickers to arrive at the lab so the International Zionista can enjoy whats turned out to be a fantastic piece of kit.

@HD Springer I hope yours is well wrapped in cotton wool this time.
I know the answer but just for others sake. Has your Vapman seen any action since Zion re-entered your life??

Whilst typing this I forgot about the bowl full in my conduction DD and had to start again obviously with a lot less flavor. Come on RBT lets see some excellent progress next year with some overseas certification or just some kind of work round. We all need a bit of on demand convection in our lives.

Perfect! A hair hotter than we first discussed, should be able to give people what they need with visible vapor at 50% and below, with great flavor and heady effects, less harshness and no risk of combustion really. Zion quality vapor!

@vapen00b unless it's from a cold start, the goal is really to be instant heating, 3-5sec preheats at most, heatsoaked it shouldn't need any at all, if you draw slow and then slowly speed up as you hold the button may not need it at all. Just the first hit from cold might need an 8-10sec preheat low on the dial, or just start the first hit on high and get things quickly warmed up. Being pure convection its a guideline, too many variables for precise temp control, but the full range should be available to pretty much any unique user. Typically you should be able to get some vapor in 10sec or less wherever you are on the dial at a level corresponding to the temp (or close to it)
