@Edric al-Fali Me neither and I dont think many do. Had the email on 4th April or thereabouts requesting address details and Zion options but nothing since. Just gotta wait it out and hope that despatch email comes sooner rather than later. All these pics are making me green with envy!

Lots of posts on Instagram but not a lot of info :(

Hi all, just got my zion back from Ryan yesterday. I originally got it a couple of weeks ago and had the same problem that others were having. Most of my down time was due to travel time across the border. To me, it seems like this is an indication that Ryan was right to have the slow roll out of the zions. I imagine it would have been much worse with a lot more zions sent out. :worms:

Still getting used to it. There has been a bigger learning curve for me than expected but I am getting the hang of it. I do get a hot spot in the middle, so I am trying to figure out how to overcome that. Right now I have started to use the screen much lower with a eq screen on top. That way I leave it loose in there similar to an elb.

Despite my initial hot spot issues, the vapour tastes amazing, and keeps until the end of the load. Even with a middle hot spot, the entire load vapes thoroughly (as evidenced by use in other vapes). I have a feeling Zion and I will be very good friends. The ddave 14mm stem is amazing with the zion. Dense, tasty clouds on minimal herb.

As for the next group, I imagine the rest of the people in the group that had been emailed will be getting the zions that are being made now (with pics on instagram). Thankfully, you will have less of a chance of DOA, because of the lessons learned from our failed zions.

I also got a stem as a thanks from Ryan for dealing with the failed zion. Initially, I got a black female joint with a colour change stem with my zion. During the repair, I asked to purchase a black medium stem as back up, and he sent it for me as a thanks. The black stem with the black joint looks so good. :D Overall, his cs was very good with quick responses and a thorough explanation of the issue.

I believe the less chance of receiving a DOA unit to be very key. Of course there is also the fact that our failed units just improved the wattage output of the device from 50 to 75. Most people want the manufacturer to rush and get this out the door so they can try it. I wanted something that works forever and is going to be superior in its performance for a long time to come. The Zion has that.

Also, just so everyone knows, the numbers written on your Zion do not correlate to any order of production and/or waiting list. The numbers are only so Ryan can assure he does not lose parts are mix them up in the processes of manufacturing. For instance, my Zion has number 68 written on it. There is no chance I was #68 in production or on the waiting list. I did grow up with those being my lucky jersey numbers prior to high school so perhaps Ryan also has a crystal ball.

Lastly, I feel like I owe some Zion porn...unfortunately this is all I got...

How hard are you pulling? My experience is that pulling gently reduces or eliminates the hotspot.
I have been using a variety of draws. Based on my mi experience, I had been starting slowly and then picking up speed. When I asked Ryan, he said that a stronger draw gets the turbulation going more. I will be doing more experimentation today.

Also, does anyone know if it is safe to leave the batteries in the vape overnight? I am not sure if I am being over concerned or anything so I have taken the batteries out at night. Do I need to do that?

Same here noticed I draw slow till I feel vapor pouring in my mouth and then I pick up my speed as well. literally was just pulling some huge clouds with some lemon glue shatter rolled in the hemp fiber :)

It should be perfectly safe to leave your batteries in overnight. The only concern with leaving batteries in is if there is some way for the button to be pushed, like left in a gadget bag or something like that. Left out on a counter or table with no way to accidentally depress the button there should be no reason to be concerned.

@fluffhead one way that I've eliminated any hot spot is to keep the beginning of the loaded material further into the stem than closer to the tip of the joint. I also withdraw the stem and rotate every 2 or 3 hits. My Zion experience is limited but these lessons learned are from a lot of bonding with Milaana. I'm pretty far in the back of the line for the Zion Train and I have my ears to the tracks and am not hearing anything approaching.

A bit disappointing that early units had no hotspots whatsoever and required (optionally) just a load flip once before the end of the session... and new units with the turbulator are behaving worse...

Note that I never ever use any of my two units set to full power, that's asking for trouble for sure!

Thanks for the advice. I have gotten better results the last day or so. I had the power on too high for the temp I was looking for. Turning the power down definitely helped. I am getting mostly even abv. If anything I have a fleck or two of green at the very outside of the load. I don't stir and never need to flip the load as it is pretty even all the way through. I also rotate the stem after a few hits.

Since I got my Zion, I haven't used anything else at home very much. My omni is looking at me funny but I haven't had interest in other vapes with the zion around.

My experience has been the same. Realized I had it to high and now I'm getting an even abv and don't need to stir. I'm sitting around 9 o'clock 10, 11. Real long slow draws and I get massive clouds fast as hell. If I go to noon or higher the bowl gets scorched within 3 pulls :(

At which orientation are you looking for the clock numbers? Do you consider 12 facing the batteries or the button?

Pretty strange, my minimum setting is about 1:00 from button away from me, my device doesn't even go to the 12:00 setting, much less 11 or 10. Seems like it is random? My knob only rotates from 1:00-8:00 on a clock in that orientation. Do you folks get about the same amount of available rotation on your knobs?

Edit: oh wait, I think I am looking at it backwards :p

Button facing away from me goes from 6 being the lowest to 2 being the highest

Reading the new blog and updates on www.rastabuddhatao.com it seems the Zions are going to take longer than initially thought for the early preorders. (Yet again. Disappointing!) Doesn't sound too promising to be honest from what I could gather but it isnt very clear as per usual.

Seems to be creating more Milaanas and concentrating on the Splinter or whatever its called. I know its Ryans only job now, and I understand its difficult financially but surely concentrating on and developing another project before the others have really finished is not the way to go about it! This could go on forever if the new vapes dont sell or catch on either and the Zion just keeps getting put on the backburner. I am a patient man and have been waiting since Aug '15 but how much longer is this going to go on for. Ryan personally wants them done and out the way, its the bane of his life (so he told me) so why not just get em done and be done with it.

Hes probably between a rock and a hard place and doesnt know which way to turn, but I think something needs to be done to get those Zions out .....Priority number one. Rather than financing and developing something else, put that development money into completing the Zion and furnishing those early preorders instead, at least you wont have to think about it anymore, and it may curtail some of the animosity. :2c:

It would be nice if there was some communication about timeline. I'm part of the second wave, like delloy. If I recall correctly, RBT mentioned that the second wave would be going out this summer. I could have sworn he said June, but I don't remember. I haven't received any communications from him, so I assume the second wave people haven't heard anything yet.

I'm cool with waiting; it's been a few years since I spent the money so a bit more waiting isn't the end of the world. Mostly I don't want to miss out on getting in on the next wave, or having my Zion shipped to one of my old addresses.

Extremely disappointing update. It sounds like there isn't even a guarantee that he can finish the Zion orders without extra funding from Milaana and Splinter sales. Re-opening up pre-orders in April with an estimated completion date of 2nd Q 2017 when you know full well that you don't have the funding is disingenuous and misleading at best.

Maybe I'm overreacting but there's really nothing in that update that would lead me, an April 2017 pre-order, to believe that I will be getting my Zion before 2018.

"The pace at which Milaana and soon Splinter sales pick up will determine the pace of completing Zion"

What happens if the sales don't pick up?

I have a Milaana and I've been on and off the Zion train for what feels like years now. I'll be doing everything in my power to not hit that refund button but the uncertainty in that update really doesn't sit well with me.
