vaporgenie woul work great for salvia as long as you could muster the lighter and not fuck up the ceramic

i remember vaping plain leaf through my sv, it definately worked, it was just too many reloads. i still have an ounce of plain leaf i should make a crude iso extract and try again

a thread i made on this subject a while back: http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=184

@Spacenstein, i'll know soon but for now its semi-educated speculation. i know i can reach very high temps in my glass vg, ive combusted a couple times on accident (not black, i got it gray..and only did that with a torch) and can get it black pretty easily but rarely do. im a bic guy for now.

id say im 99% sure that you can, the vg is essentially a variable hand held vaporizer where the variance is really your choosing, not dial specific.

I've tried vaporizing 20x salvia extract in my HerbalAire a couple weeks ago while i was visiting some people i know in Montreal and nothing happened: the HA doesn't even reach the combustion temperature (around 204 C). I also tried smoking it, so did my sitter, none of us experienced anything from trying salvia divinorum.

I was told recently i'd have got better luck using a "bong" type of pipe but i don't like fire much. Just in case someone i know might want to buy an electric vaporizer (after i showed mine), what are the known brands/models suitable for salvia so far?

I've had good results the DBV, VHW, and the lotus. I personally do not like the taste, the high is some what pleasant. . .

Sometimes you will combust because it is hard to readjust for that sweetspot.

Thank you BioJuggernaut! It turns out i had some concerns the maximum range of 260 C in a Da Buddha might cause salvia vaporization attempts to fail since it requires a temperature close to 240 C (i hope those number are correct)...

Well, there appears to be a safe 20 C gap but my HerbalAire, for example, has 400 F clearly printed on its dial and yet its practical limit is more like 375 F or so, actually... I suppose that's no issue at all with the SSV or the LSV which have extended ranges.

yeah would love to give you an exact temperature but I do not have that exact information. My best guess is somewhere around 460oF.

I got mild vapor from salvia using the Epic on Boost. Although it was pure leaf salvia, not an extract, so I got no effect. So I dont know if the epic would vape an extract too but I dont see why not.

I'd like to try this. A few years ago I bought a bag of Salvia online and smoked it a few times and didn't really feel much except a perceptual heightening. Now I see that it's a very difficult herb to buy online depending on what state you live in. I was told that it can be gotten in certain tattoo parlors but this sounds very iffy. Regardless if it comes my way again I'm going to try vaping it.

Well, i'm having a brief salvia-related dialog with a fellow French-Canadian on another board and the guy insists there's no vaporizer that works for salvia because all one can hope for at 400 C is imaginary sensations plus a disgusting taste. He says it's not even working when smoking it in a splif, the only valid accessories to provide real visual hallucinations being a pipe or a bong and nothing less- well, if i've read him correctly, that is...

    ;)

Anyway, good luck with your future adventures experimenting with salvia, JeffP! Opinions about salvia vaporization appear to span across a wide range which varies from impossible to the best way available, with terrible stories somewhere in between!...

I'm looking forward for your review(s)! In any case, please have a "sitter" with you, just to play safe.

Oh, by the way. I'm curious to know what's the vaporizer you'd be using with salvia divinorum.

I would go with the SSV or VB but the first task at hand is being able to find it. I live in NYC and I know that online sales are banned in several states including my own.
Maybe I'll draw a heart with "Mom" inside it with a Sharpie on my forearm and meander into a tattoo parlor in the city and go "Pssst....know where I can..."

I've been vaping homegrown Salvia since i have a vape.. And it is awesome... Try and eat 10 fresh leaves if you can handle the bitterness.. Oh. sally :D
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sTP994tOMk
Oh and taste is pleasant .. and it melts at 242-244238-240 C
Vaporizing salvia is different to smoking... because the effects are not so sudden.. exept if dont do a huge bong hit of XXX extract.. There is no other way than space if you do that,,
    Intesity
Effects of vaping - 20 minutes low to high depends on the amount you vaped
Effects of smoking - 2 minutes High to low depends on the lighter type and gear
Effects of eating - 40+ minutes.. middle ..

Also have to mention that i build tolerance to smoking salvia extract in 1-2 days. that never happens with vaping..

Over the weekend I vaped a bit of organic 05x extract which I felt was the right level of potency to start off with. I used the SSV at full power.
I quite enjoyed it; at this level it felt like a stoned high with a mild psychedelic edge. A few interesting visual hallucinations similar to orange sunshine LSD but much milder considering the dosage - dancing shadows, objects moving. Mostly I closed my eyes and went on a little dream journey. My original intent was to start off with the salvia with the SSV and then switch to weed with the PD but I never got to the weed. Possibly looking forward to pursing this inch by inch. First impressions are very favorable - compared with LSD I like the fact that you can control the dosage by the level of potency and the amount that you vape and that it's a pure material; street LSD was notorious for being laced with speed of all things and i never understood the logic of lacing acid with something that would make a person anxious. I feel that even if I choose not to progress; if I stay at this low potency level it's an interesting occasional addendum to vaping herb and at this low level probably the most effective and maybe equivalent legal alternative to weed.

speed dilates the pupils thus increase the chance of a person to misinterpret light :(

I will try this again tonight with my lotus and post my findings.

Ive tried in a glass bubble with tremendous result essential vaaap will be goot too i guess .. Heat it with a torch until all the bulb is full with thick vapour and than inhale.. u might even combust a bit because the biggest chunks of salvorin A are vaped on the high temps.

I've tried to vaporize Salvia Divinorum in my HerbalAire and nothing happened. Somebody somewhere, i don't know when, wrote something about the magic temperature threshold of 277 C (531 F), somehow... All i can tell is that there ain't too many electrical vaporizers covering that range.

I've vaped 5x from arenabotanicals with my Vapor Bros at full blast and I got vapor (i want to start off easy and light with salvia), almost immediately a mild hallucinatory transformation; seemed like waves of fire on tv were coming at me. i immediately realized that i need to be listening to music and put on a live grateful dead show and shut off the tv. closed my eyes and it was fantastic for a short while. was going to vape MJ with that but didn't feel the want.

Smoked it in a pipe with a Bic lighter and it was a little different, less hallucinatory and altering but more of a mood elevator. With MJ at this low dosage I find it to be a perfect compliment. As MJ gets me telescopic the salvia makes me more active and functional and talkative - again at this low dose. Used it in my SSFG bong but the problem is the need for a screen. Have tried a little pebble in the bowl but it's still not right. With salvia extract you simply must use a screen with a bong. Also I used a torch butane lighter in the bong with the little pebble but it seemed to be a potential fire hazard as fiery little ashes flew out of the bowl (not a hallucination) which I believe is due to using a pebble as a screen as the material is too elevated; it should be packed and grounded into the bowl.

Ordered a few of those small glass screens. I think a PD type sized screen would also be a perfect fit.

Already replenished my salvia supply and ordered and received both 5x and 10x. Again, I'm taking it in baby steps; I know where psychedelics take you, and I'm curious to where the next level leads.

What do you guys do about the need for a screen with the bong?

big tube + glass screen + torch lighter. Then all you need is someone to catch the bong before you hit the floor. Even the weakest extracts push me through the threshold if I combine these three things.

A simple adjustment made a world of difference last night. First I cut up a regular sized pipe screen in even quarters and placed one over the bong bowl's hole; it did what was necessary and was properly placed.
From there a friend and I each took one long hit with a torch lighter. Immediately we both felt the full effects of what salvia does - we were tripping. I must say my friend was a little jolted and confused, however I, while standing up and flapping my arms like a stoned crazy bird fully enjoyed it and I was reassuring him that this is a very short trip and it was - just a few minutes, but it was fun. Also revelatory on a spiritual level. That peak, while only lasting a few minutes, was very impressive and the state lingered for quite a while - we vaped a few bowls and we both agreed that we were more than stoned, there was something else on top of it.

Any research on any destructive effects of salvia? Does it destroy brain cells? It kind of felt like it could.
This is a very interesting legal psychedelic, however I think LSD is a cleaner experience.

ya its nice to watch vaped. it's somewhat "clinical" in nature but i really appreciated the attempt of the researchers to be objective. the talks at the end were very interesting to watch, it was like viewing competing perspectives on the usefulness of altered states of consciousness. the sacred herbs series has 3 others in which they look into things such as amanita muscaria, ive seen them all but liked the salvia one the best.

why did quartering the screen help?
  24. jeffp

    jeffp psychonaut

quartering the screen allowed me to drop 1/4 of a screen into the stem and I simply maneuvered it over the hole using a pokey stick from one of my whip vapes.

I don't like to be the gravedigger but I feel like this topic deserves further attention.

I vaporized Salvia several times now and each time has been completely different.
E.g. last time I vaporized White Widow with a little bit of plain leaf Salvia in my SSV at max temp and the Salvia hit me slower than the weed did.
It was a profound experience to say the least.
I feel that with vaporized Salvia you can control the dosage if you are careful and slowly work your way up.
