So, I'm planning on going to UCF for the Summer term in 2012 and am saving up to get the latest version of the Extreme Q vaporizer as my own little graduation gift to take with me to college. I have a few questions regarding the proccess of vaping in a dorm room in college. One, if any of you guys have successfuly done so in the past, or are doing so as we post, and not been caught, what precautions did you take and do you have any tips? Two, if any of you have unsuccessfuly done so in the past and in fact did get caught, what did you do wrong and what would you suggest as an alternative option. And third, if any of you guys have attended, or currently attend, UCF, what is their policy with this kind of stuff? I just recently found out that they are pretty active with NORML and the legalization of marijuana.

Any type of feedback would be wonderful and greatly appreciated! :)

PS. This is my first post on here. I look forward to being a apart of the FC community from here on out!

welcome to FC, and firstly i would say here are 2 things i did when smoking in residence. (i didn't vape back then but the same tricks apply.)

1. exhale out the window!
- directly, or if you really need some stealth run a hose out the window with it almost closed holding hte hose in place and exhale though that. this will direct your breath out and minimize blow back from wind etc...

2. you can use a tube with activated carbon or even dryer laundry sheets to filter the small if you don't have a window option.

3. the vent in your bathroom could serve as a decent method for placing your vapor.

the good thing about vapor is it smells a different than smoking. and doesn't linger as long either.

Great choice going with the Extreme Q, Arizer continuously produces high quality devices and the option of whip or balloon fill is clutch. Vaporizing is definitely the route to go in a dorm room where being discreet is a must. When I younger and wanted to smoke at home, I used the dryer sheet technique with success on many occasions and that was with some thick smoke. There is also something out there called the Smoke Buddy which does the exact same thing, only more effectively than the toilet paper tube with dryer sheets stuffed in. A towel tossed down by the crack of the door never hurts either. Enjoy your vapor!

FWIW I've tried a lot of different methods and the Smoke Buddy works the best for me. It's basically a tube with carbon filter like weedemon suggested, but if your lazy like me it's worth the money. Since your using it with vapor it last longer than the 300 uses it advertises. Like SD_haze said, the larger the clouds the more smell. I would purchase a small rubbermaid container and store your whip and accessories in there. Having owned a few whip vapes myself, the smell of just the whip and glass accessories can stink up a room. Not sure what your budget is like, but a decent air purifier can make a big difference too. Something like this.

First off, I'd like to thank you guys for your quick and extensive feedback. This is hands down the best marijuana forum on the internet. Far better than Marijuana and Grasscity. The willingness to give good information in a pleasant, non-condescending way is commendable.

As for what you guys have suggested I definitely agree that if I'm going to spend the money to have a quality Vaporizer such as the Extreme Q, I should also splurge on getting any proper equipment to assure I don't get caught. (A couple extra bucks far outweighs getting kicked out of the college of my dreams) I've heard of the Smoke Buddy and have actually used it's "little brother" in a sense by using the Hello Neighbor. That was pretty effective when I used it with my bong rips, before I had to quit smoking. (I was arrested for possession after my friend got pulled over for speeding, and am going through a first offenders program to make sure it doesn't go on my record. I have random drug testing every month until this upcoming July) After my little break though, I plan on switching to vapor only for many great reasons after doing research.

So here are some things I will look into getting before I depart for college:
-Smoke Buddy
-A container to store the whip and other accessories
-A plastic air tight jar to store my bud

If there are any other suggestions please let me know so I can add them to the list. And also if there are any more tips for making sure everything runs smoothly I don't get caught please feel free to add them as well.

Thanks again!

Dont store your bud in a plastic jar, plastic is permeable and the smell will slowly seep out over time. Besides the smell plastic can strip trichromes in a way glass doesn't.
(tight-vac containers are definitely an exception tho)

You can pick up a small glass jar for under $2, mason jars work great if you can find them for sale individually, walmart, ikea, etc all sell super cheap glass jars.

I think the Extreme Q is a great vaporizer, however, I would suggest either the MFLB or the Arizer SOLO for use in a dorm over the Extreme. The two vapes I mention are both portable, but are also used by some as their DD. Both of these vapes are much smaller than the Extreme and easier to hide. There are also less parts that will retain smell.

Also, instead of a plastic air tight jar to store your bud, use a glass mason jar. It will not only keep the smell of the bud in the jar, it will help keep your bud fresh longer.

Ok so I will definitely go with the glass jars rather then the plastic ones. I don't remember where I saw it but I remember someone talking about using these air tight plastic ones, but the glass definitely seems like it would make more sense.

As far as going with the smaller, more portable one I'm just a little skeptical because other than using my friends Easy Vape a couple times I'm extremely inexperienced with Vaporizers and have this preconceived notion that the smaller ones don't get you as high. I could be completely wrong I just wouldn't know. So if I find out that that isn't the case then I might consider the smaller ones for the year I will be in the dorms and maybe go with the bigger Extreme Q once I have my own place.

So someone help me out. Would that make the most sense ^^ ?

Nothing wrong with the EQ, but I think that it might not be the best option in your situation. The bags and the hosing for the whip will quickly become pretty stinky, and are just troublesome to keep getting out and hiding every session. Plus the unit itself kinda attracts attention if you just leave it sitting out.

If you could leave it plugged in all the time (just tuck it behind something on a low shelf or something) a log vape would be convenient because you would just have to store the stems in an airtight container, the unit itself is pretty inconspicuous. They also are set-temp, so you dont have to worry about the risk of high temp vapor stink or worse, accidental combustion.

But the Solo would also be a good option in that you can hide the unit itself and the stems both easily (but really you could probably leave it in a drawer or something and ppl wouldnt know what it is if they saw it, just hide the honeyed up stems), its portable so you could take it to parties and stuff easily too.

In general though, i wouldnt worry about vapor smell too much. Unless someone is in the room with you or comes in immediately after you blow out a hit, its very hard to detect. Heat up a bag of popcorn or a hot pocket or something when you're about to vape and it will easily mask the smell of even the stinkiest vapor.

here for the chicks
You don't have to worry about small hits when it comes to the Solo. It's absolutely noob proof and gets you highly medicated quickly. It even made me stop using my SSV.

I havent read this thread but from the title, i have to say a log vape for a few VERY good reasons

1. super stealthy looking. the unit itself also requires zero cleaning so its never a piece of dirty paraphernalia.
2. it im practically impossible to accidentally combust with a log vape, and combusting in a vaporizer even a little bit can create A LOT of unwanted smell.
3. its very efficient and simple to use. it holds a very small amount of herb at one time which helps the efficiency very much and theres no extra parts really. its just the unit and the stem.

a smaller, but still HIGH END vaporizer like the MFLB will get you just as high as the log vapes. and its close in efficiency, too! but it is easy to combust and CAN NOT be cleaned till its legally clean(which a log unit would be all the time). the Solo is not a very stealthy portable. its a portable yes, but it produces dense hits and has lights and sounds which are not very good for the 'stealth' part of it all.

and glass mason jars are best, make sure your herb is not too moist when you seal it up or else it has the potential to mold and destroy your stash.

hope this helps, peace :peace:

i agree with looking into a log vape times 1000.

i had a friend that had one and we never had any issues in a strict dorm. we used a tube filled with activated carbon and dryer sheets and anti MJ we lived with never knew anything.

Having a log vape, an MFLB, an EQ and a Solo, if I were to suddenly have to move back into a dorm room (heaven forbid!) and could only take one of these with me, I would chose the Solo. I love all my vapes, but for college living, I think the Solo would be the most suitable for dorm life.

Just my :2c: on plastic storage:

I have been using the same type of plastic container for a few years now, and haven't noticed any issues with smell creeping out.

I'll get a pic up here tomorrow if I can find my camera, but basically, the lid has a silicone(?) gasket(?)(no idea if that's the correct material or terminology, but hopefully you get the idea) and this keeps the container air-tight and smell proof (maybe not 100% smell proof, but I've never noticed any smell even when holding the closed container up to my nose...

It's true that you will get some buildup on plastic over time, but it is negligible IMO (I've had one container going for about 18 months, and I would estimate the buildup at <0.25g)
Tbh, IMO you loose more herb to your fingers when packing a vape than you will ever loose to the container.

I've got no doubt that glass has advantages over plastic, but I wouldn't necessarily completley rule out a plastic storage container.

Can't' thank you guys enough for all your suggestions and feedback. Now I'm going to go start a thread to talk about which vape I should go with before leaving for college now that I feel I can confidentally get away with it given I use the proper causionary techniques.

Thanks a lot! And feel free to keep posting new ideas, suggestions, and tips.
