so that short piece of silicon tubing that came with it fits right into my 14mm-18mm gong adapter and lets me stick the glass stem right in and hook it up to my bubbler...is that was this is for?

I took that piece, connected to an 18mm arizer elbow adapter and it works perfectly. I did however just order one of Daves new gong pieces which I'm sure will be great as well.

Yeah, that's how I use mine too as you might have saw in my video a few pages back. Glass stem sheathed in thin silicon = perfect seal with a 14mm joint. Pretty nifty.

I think what it is actually for is to renew the bowl on the standard glass stem(if you use it for a while the silicone gets yellow/orange, and the silicone slips easier off the stem, it stretches a bit is the best way I can explain it, altough I don't k now if the new kind of thin silicone behaves the same), but ofcourse you can use it for a lot of things, like making a seal with a bong/bubbler

Djonk wins the prize lol! I include the section of tubing with the screen kit as a replacement piece for when the original is worn out. Of course it can also be used for any number of other uses as well. I try to include stuff like this with the Dogs so that you guys can hit the ground running and have everything you need even if you don't realize you might need them at the time.

Off to the shop to clean up the mess from finishing a batch of cores (50 of them) yesterday and try to make some room for the latest shipment wood to come in. Yay wood!

That sure is a lot of wood :o

I like the idea though, I just paypalled you the 9,999, Dave. Make mine once a month please, plus one on every holiday if possible. I like the dog rain to continue for a while :brow: Oh, no funny shapes pls, I like mine simple & tight, just like my women :p

Underdoggete, I might pay a 100 bucks if it's made out of really nice piece Blue Mahoe & big enough to eat out. But we were talking about really tiny ones here, like 1 or 2 inch in diameter perhaps. Couldn't you just drill a bowl shape in a caddy & then sand it down to a nice shape? Perhaps it's even an idea to take a large butterfly drill & grind it down till the head has the bowl-shape already & then sharpen it again. It would make for much less sanding time I reckon.

I can try to play around and see how long it takes me to make a bowl - The thing with bowls is that you have to turn it on the lathe and make the tenon on the bottom, then you take it off and turn it around and put the tenon in the chuck inside out and try to turn it from there on the end grain. There's a lot of specialized equipment for bowls that we're not exactly set up for. I have made a few bowls - the little ones are actually a little harder since they're so delicate and very easy to break before getting it finished.

I can also try some little glass bowls - but really, I think tea cups work great - and there are so many people out there making awesome little tea cups - like hand-thrown ceramic ones - who specialize it in and can give good prices and high quality results.

:) Or we can always sell extras of the glass jars that we use for ABV or Underbutter. Just say the word!

It's not that I don't have something that functions just fine, it's more that we like some nice wood to go with our wood, or at least that's what was my motivation for inquiring.

I'm not sure what the Admiral had in mind, but I was thinking something simpler then actual little bowls. I though more something like a bowl shape cutout in a regular caddy, like you have made cut outs to put ABV jars before for instance, but then a more rounded shape so the herbs don't get stuck in the corners.

The part of my brain that usually does the translating doesn't seem to function like I want to today, so let me explain with a photo, like this:

palet-aluminium.jpg

So just a regular caddy with room for one or two stems, a stir tool perhaps, & two of those ^^ little bowls for instance.

So I bought an underdog a couple of weeks ago. This weekend I finally used it. Wow! I am so glad that I picked this vape. I can't believe how well this works. This seems slightly more conservative than my old volcano; so, I'm using next to nothing, seriously. I really like the underdog. Even my friend who tried it approved. Thanks Dave!

Yeah, that's more or less what I had in mind

I knew we would get there eventually, haha.

I would like to use the divots (thanks, it's been a while since I learned a new English word :) ) to tap the ABV in & then suck it back up for the next hit though, but I don't need anything real deep for that since I'm already used to using a shallow glass mini thingie for it right now.

Do you think you can shape the divots like in the example picture I posted of the pallet earlier? I would like to eliminate sharp corners where weed can get stuck in.

OTA - the two holes in the back are stem holes with sharp corners at the bottom. The two holes in the front are the divots, and they are round in the bottom with no corners. It's hard to tell from the simulation picture, but you can see the difference between the front holes and the back ones.

Oh - I see, you guys want something with multiple little divots in it? I thought you were talking about something to blow the ABV back into for reuse. I must have gotten sidetracked somewhere along the line. The little rounded out divots would be easy to do (as well as some stem holders and a slot for a stir stick):

What is this used for I am slowly reading this thread and must not have got this part yet.

MrThC,
It's a new idea that we are tossing around, it's basically just a place to put your stems, stirring tool, and abv.

Seriously thinking of dumping (selling) most of my botanical vaporizers and ordering a dog. I currently use a v-tower for vapor bonging, but i would love to have it all in one beautiful log.......really, really thinkin about it.

I'm thinking the same dude... As much as I love my EQ, it sure is a space hog compared to the UD.

one of my friends from college bought an EQ last year and was liking it because he was starting to get into vaporizing after owning an iolite. shortly after i bought my UD i brought it up to his room for him to see. i could immediately tell that he loved it. it was much harder hitting than his EQ and also easier to get consistent clouds. IMO a lot easier to vapor bong too. if you guys are thinking about switching from an EQ to a UD i think it'd be a great decision. you can have the huge benefit of having a hard hitting vape such as a UD while having a bag blowing vape like the EQ.

Alright, I'm playing with my wpa. The design that I went with previously using an arizer elbow adapter utilized a piece of UD tubing about an inch long. This allowed you to keep the adapter connected to the water tool while you inserted the heat source momentarily to vape. Daves, your adapter uses a piece of tubing much smaller. I assume you intended for the user to insert the piece onto your dog and then insert the whole unit into the stem of your water tool. The problem I'm finding is that on the 18mm the diameter is so wide and since the depth is so shallow when I invert my dog all my mj falls into my heater core. I love the concept but I would like you to try adapting using a 90° elbow piece like mine. You lose NO product, since the elbow piece inserts into the tube as opposed to the fitting into the glass is provides for a stopping point for your screen, and no super hot silicone in the air path. Plus - manuevering the tube allows the user some temperature control based on the depth of your weed.

That 18mm tube is meant to be used with waterpieces. If you keep it on your waterpipe using it as a silde/bowl there's no way stuff can fall out because you simply don't turn it upside down. Just bring your UD to it like you would a lighter.

Correct but do you leave the silicone inserted during use? How long can that silicone stand up to the Dogs heat? I have to play with it more.

Hey Dogs hope you all had a nice holiday (for our USA Dogs anyways) weekend.. even though we didn't do much we had a nice one here and got some Grade-A relaxing done.

So September is upon us and while I don't have the specifics this evening I am happy to announce that we'll be doing a Birthday Vape special again this year for those of you looking to get a Pup.

Will hammer out the details of the special and post them in the next few days, the special will run in the later half of the month probably starting around the 16th.

@ mvapes - thanks for the feedback man it's appreciated and helps us make a better product in the long run. For the record I use the WPB piece as OTA described with it attached to the waterpipe and raise up/attach the UD when hitting it. Doing it this way I don't ever get any spilled herb or anything like that. The silicone should last a good while, especially as used with the WPB stems (and XL/XL2 ones). It's rated for prolonged use at temps higher than it's exposed to when attached to the Dog, I find mine yellow from the herb and replace them once a month or so though anyways. Anyways play with it some more and let me know any further thoughts so I can add them to our notes for potential future improvement. :peace:
