Just taking a quick break to show you guys what I go through for you all.. I think I will add this to the list of things I prefer NOT to find in the wood shop. I have decided to name him Herby in honor of the 4/20.

Fellow ENTs,

I wanted to share my experience with the UD vaporizer i received a couple of weeks ago. I didn't want to post too prematurely as i was afraid of not quite being used to the learning curve that most vaporizers have. I found that the UD doesn't have much of a learning curve at all. There are a few things, as with all vapes, that you have to get used to, and some things that feel as natural as can be.

When I first received my UD, i quickly unpackaged it to a bunch of UD goodies. A custom purpleheart ubertwig (picture posted a few pages back by Dave), some silicone stems, a screen replacement kit, some glass stems, a sticker, and a few other things.

Lets start with the UD itself. It came out much smaller than i expected. In fact, about 2/3rds the size that i actually thought it would be. The wood is absolutely beautiful, and after using the UD butter that came with the unit, it shines up like a beaut! The unit heated up pretty quickly, at around 20 minutes. I've left it on since i received it; every day, all day. At first I was worried about the heat due to the size of the UD. It got very hot to the touch, but never so hot that I was unable to hold it in my hand. Once the heat is maxed out after about 30 minutes, the temperature is very consistent. It stays the same temperature, every hit, all the time. This is GREAT. No matter if i'm pulling with the silicone tube, the glass tube, or a glass water-pipe/bong, it always hits hot, clean, and smooth.

Moving on to the stems. The silicone stem looks a bit, well, lackluster. It's not quite as "cool looking" as some of the tubes i've seen with some log vapes, however i think it functions great. I quickly learned that filling the tube up too much causes a bit of drag, and makes using the UD a bit tough on the lungs/breathing. However, as soon as i dialed in exactly how much herb to load into each stem, i couldn't believe how efficient it was. At first, from the tip of the tube to the tube's screen, i was filling up about half of the free space. I soon learned that filling up the stem bowl with 1/4th of the free space, or less, resulted in super efficient extraction of the vapor.

Next, the glass stem. This stem is much nicer on the eyes. Its all glass up until the part that connects to the UD itself, which is made of silicone. This silicone is much thinner than the silicone used on the actual full silicone tubes. The result of this is less drag/air restriction, which makes the hit feel much smoother. I really like this tube, however, i feel that the silicone tube does a better job at fully extracting all of the cannabinoids from the herb. Sometimes i like to switch back and forth between the glass tube and the silicone tube. I also think that this is due to the different shape of the screen (flat instead of dome shaped.)

On both tubes, after about 2-3 hits, i take a poker, and stir up the tube to keep the extraction even. One problem i was having was when i removed the tube from the UD, the herb would sit on the unit's screen, rather than staying packed up inside the tube itself. The very simple solution was to turn the UD upside down, tap it a couple times, THEN remove the tube from the UD while still holding it upside down. This typically keeps the UD nice and clean and fresh. My only concern is anything falling down through the core itself and getting gunked up in there. I suppose time will tell for this.

When paired with a water-bong, this thing is a dream. I purchased the airizer q elbow adapter, which fits into an 18mm joint on my bong, and plugs directly into the UD silicone stem, which then plugs directly into my UD. it's a very simple solution to using this vape with a water bong.

As far as size of hits goes, this thing is a monster. MANY times i've let my friends use it, and MANY times this week i've heard, "holy shit, i didn't even think i got anything at first." directly after blowing out an enormous cloud. Often followed by a "where do i get one of these?" or a "wow, that was TASTY!!!"

All in all, with the amazing convenience of loading stems (just suck up the herb!), the 24/7 always on, the awesome size, the amazing aesthetics, excellent performance, and great customer service: I couldn't be happier with my UD. My volcano is already collecting a layer of dust.

Dave, thank you again.

Happy UD owner,
SS

@ Elluzion & HES - yeah he was a beast and scared the crap out of me when I looked up and saw him perched about 2' above my head with a look that was just screaming "maybe I'll jump on that bald head". He's now been relocated to the bushes next to my neighbor's mailbox.

@ SS - thanks for the nice review dude, glad your custom piece is kicking so much ass and impressing your friends too!

@ Gonzo - thanks man! I'll get a picture of the LV piece I mentioned when it comes out of the incubator later on.

@ OTA - sorry man I missed your question earlier. No Cebil or Blue Mahoe in this batch, not sure what pieces you meant but you'll be able to see what they are on the site soon. I'd say about 80% of these have the newest insulated core.

I'm almost done getting all the pieces added to the site, I'd forgotten how much work it takes to add more than a few pieces.. it'll be done before 4-20 is over (at least here on the West Coast lol). I also have 20+ more in the shop that will be being finished in the coming weeks. From now on there will be regular additions to the website inventory so we don't run out like this time.

Alright back to the grind-stone - nearly time to 'Release The Hounds' :lmao:

Just a quick update (at midnight on the dot!) to let you all know that the new Dogs are going live as I type this. All should be up and active on the site within the next couple minutes.

Damn, so much work today I didn't get to enjoy any 4-20 vapor. Oh well, guess I'll enjoy some 4-21 fog instead.

Sweet. So many to chose from! The blue proto is calling my name. Will there be a fresh for the 3/8" worked glass stems?

There will be a refresh of the fancy glass stems, Amanda is going to be doing stock ones in-house in addition to custom orders too. It'll be a few more weeks before that happens though..

The blue prototype (and other protos when available) is a neat piece, definitely different that's for sure! That being said I'm not sure it's the best choice for a 1st Dog since prototypes tend to have a slightly higher rate of issues than standard pieces but if you're in the USA and are ok with sending it in should anything crop up then that's cool.. just wanted to throw that out there. :peace:

Too late...I bought it lol. I went through the checkout like NINTENDO 64! Well, at least I felt like the Nintendo 64 kid during Christmas morning. I was too excited to realize they where more prone to issues than standard pieces. Luckily, you stand by your work and I am located about 4 hours away in the south bay.

I will be looking forward to seeing the refresh on the worked glass stems. I did place an order for the regular glass stems but I will send an email regarding the custom worked ones.

Editing and uploading pictures now, in a few hours everything will be updated on the site.

For now how about a teaser?

Here's a quick and dirty edited mashup of the pieces for the refresh. There are a few Dogs that some of you might have seen before but 90% are newborns. Hope you all like them. :p
I see my baby in there! :D

Ha, and we don't even know what the man himself looks like, she's already one step ahead of you Dave ;)

Welcome miss Underdog. I noticed your profile a while ago already, but Dave wasn't ready to share you just then

Very curious to see what beauties you will create for us in the future

Dave, I didn't have time yet to give them all a good look, but I'm loving that Ambrosia Maple Stump. Looks like you got some lovely Ambrosia there! But don't we get first pick on FC anymore? I thought you always posted them here first, change of policy or is it just this time because you were all out of stock?

What blue prototype btw? Or is it gone already? Is that the same blue prototype that got lost on it's way to Abysmal?

I think it were the Claro Log and the Teak Twig that I mistook for Cebil and BM :)

That's a good purpose for the big plastic jarr too, haha. What kinda spider is Herbie? He looks like a brown huntsman. If it is, those can get up to 11" or so, so you may need a bigger jar ;)

edit: I almost forgot, a happy 421 to the hardworking people here!

Hi,

Nice to meet you Amanda, keep on the good work :)

Dave congrats for this impressive new batch! The Madhatter looks really awesome btw

I ordered an aqua vape from UK today as I feel like I'm starting to have some throats issues lately... I'll post some photos in a week or so. (I don't know how long will the delivery take to come to france)

@ bookaker - haha no worries dude turns out you're just down the road so if anything comes up you're what I would consider local.

@ EyeFonez - which one is your baby? Or do you not want to share so people don't try and steal it from you? :brow:

@ OTA - I'm sure you guys don't want to see my ugly mug but I suppose I could dig a picture up and post it if you really want haha. Yeah some of that Ambrosia is turning out nice huh dude? I have a piece I saved for you no worries. As far as giving FC peeps first dibs I'm working on a better system for that. This time I decided I needed to get them up and live ASAP. Not sure how I'll deal with that going forward since I really, really need to get away from having to send manual invoices and just let you guys checkout online so I'll be experimenting with different stuff. The blue prototype is the one in this pic Abysmal's is lost forever it would appear so he will have to choose a different one.. I think he's been playing the patience game though. And finally, yeah the spider is a Huntsman and a young one at that. There are some people that argue they aren't found in California but I've caught plenty and up to about 3 times that size so I'd have to disagree. :/

@ okikir - thanks dude glad you like the new pieces. Hope your AV soothes the throat for you and I'm sure it probably will. Once you get it you might let us know how long it took to get delivered to France and what it cost you in case anyone else over your way is ever looking for that info.

So I added all the pieces and some new accessories last night, stuff like aroma oils and some new kinds of cords for the experimenters out there. Not sure if I will keep those things, guess it depends on how they work out.

I'll be adding new vapes weekly or every other week now depending on demand and will do my best to ensure we don't run out again. Also the delays on custom orders which got to be a few weeks while I was working on this big batch will be back to 1 or so week starting almost right away. :peace:

dave,

I like citrus so my favs are Orange, Lemon and Lemongrass. I also like the cinnamon.

The oils themselves are all NOW 100 % Essential Oils which I've purchased and then broken down into smaller sample bottles for people like me who want to try out a new oil without having to buy a whole big bottle.

I'm not sure how the NOW oils are produced (and I think it varies by each oil type) but I have heard that NOW makes a quality product from reputable sources.

Hope that answers your question at least a bit?

@ Gonzo - hey dude I just grabbed a pic of that LV piece I keep mentioning it's golden/beige with a single little green heartwood stripe.. pretty huh?

I've always wondered why log vape makers didn't directly sell essential oil for their aromatherapy devices :p
Very cool they come with their own individual droppers, I had to go on a wild goose hunt for a glass dropper, seemed pharmacies only carry plastic ones nowadays.

cool, I've also experimented with the aromacup a bit but only could find some citronella(the stuff against mosquito's), so I tried that out with some beeswax wich I cut/scraped off a beeswaxcandle

Wow Dave, the pieces are flying off the site. At this rate you will need to refresh at the beginning of the week  I knew that Teak Twig would not last long.... whoever got that is a lucky person. Hopefully their an FC member and we'll get to see some UD porn of it later.

I'm really glad to see so many people adopting pups now. Looks like the word is out

@ SD_haze - glad you like the oils dude, it just seems like a reasonable thing to do (offering them). The individual glass droppers are the way to go at least in my mind.

@ Gonzo - yeah flying they are, I think lots of people have been waiting for the refresh. I should be able to stay caught up now and will be refreshing weekly or every other week depending on need. I think the Teak Twig is a FC brother (or sister). I've got a couple more Teak ones in the pipe currently too.

Taking most of the day off today to do some BBQ with friends and family, time for some relaxation. :ko:

Hey Underdogs -

Taking a break from my Sunday BBQ festivities to let you all know that one of our own has run into some major trouble after being busted with his equipment and a bunch of herb. :(

If things don't go well in court he could be facing significant jail time and also some pretty excessive fines. Best case scenario if things do go well he's probably looking at several years probation and the fines plus legal fees in the thousands of dollars.

In light of this he will be selling some UD stuff to try and raise some money to pay the legal fees and hopefully stay out of jail. To assist this I will be helping him out as best I can and hope that any of you in a position to do the same consider doing so too.

As part of my efforts to help I will be working with him to sell some of his stuff and I will also be donating 25% of proceeds from vapes sold to people who would like to offer their help as well, this will average out to $40-$60 per vape and I think could really make a difference for him.

Anyways just wanted to give you all a heads up. I'm not going to give any specific information right yet as the person in question will be making a post here on FC (not sure which thread yet) with details and whatnot and we'll go from there.

Thanks in advance UDs! :peace:
