5-10 minutes for heat up. Cranking it up a notch would allow it to get up to temp faster that way you can back down when it is hot enough cutting down heat up time by 2-3 minutes. I don't own a e-nail but I would assume it is capable of heating up faster than the apollo on the sub. I would go 45 watts for 5 minutes and then back down to 38-40 watts for oils. If it seems like it is burning off (excess burning from Ti nail) too much then turn up the heat a little.

Hi guys (and girls) could you tell me what wattage you use for the E Nailer for dabs; also how long does it take to heat properly

Thanks
I don't have a watt meter but it's been reported by me and others that you pretty much need to put the dial to max to get good results. I haven't tested the warm up time much (don't like wasting hits) but probably 10 minutes should be good. I don't think the temp in the bowl matters as much for the e-mail so you shouldn't have to wait for that to heat up completely first.

Isn't too much time at the max setting what is suspected in the max wattage dropping over time for some appollo users?

that would make sense. I remember enrico telling us many many times that to put it up to max was too high.

I did this at first for the burn off. but never do that anymore. i just dial it to my temp and wait :)

I would like an Apollo someday, but I've really dialed it in with my UFO kit and can get perfect coffee colored ABV as long as I remember to pay attn to time when I'm torching the Sputnik (Shredhead's videos help). Learning to use this thing properly is like graduating from Jedi academy (it's not that hard, but you feel accomplished when you get the Aha of how to heat it correctly). Broke a small RooR (dropped from 5 feet when I accidentally held it by the reclaimer) I've had for 18 years (RIP sob), but gave me an excuse to get some new Thick Qual Glass coming this week, cant' wait to try out a new recycler with the sub.

For the record, I am having the best results with a very fine grind and just a fingernail's worth of flowers, topped with a few scoops of kif and the thing gives pretty thick vapor and a lot of it, but you really have to stir the bowl when emptying as the vaped kif/herb likes to stick. Also using Vapir NO2 screens with much success, haven't yet cleaned it with a month's worth of almost daily use, still draws fine.

For a tool, I've found a lobster/crab meat tool I had in a drawer was perfect, one end is a nice rounded scoop just the right size for a dose of herb and the other end is a micro fork I use for dabs. It has a wide round flat section in the middle that makes it very ergonomic in the hand.

Edit - found a picture in case anyone is curious, mine is little different, the fork teeth are a little longer and thinner.:

I think the Nail is different, not sure if there's been an official response on it. It's also possible that since mine is newer they may have limited the max wattage on mine.

my enail has to be run at max otherwise it doesn't get hot enough. the max wattage on my enail is 50 watts.

my apollo can hit 60watts. but i run it at 27 watts.

it would be nice if the enail could get hotter. there really is no effective temp range for the nail i.e. you cant dab at different temps at all, unlike the apollo which has a huge temp range for vaping.

What are folks using, to clean the tarnish, on the inner walls of the atomizer's bowl? Steel brush or steel wool? I have just been scrapping with a tool, but it needs more than that.

Just switched dabbers for the Apollo and am loving it.

UFO love! Glad my vids helped. I find lately I can get about 4 good bowls before I have to heat up my Sputnik again. I usually am good by then and take. Couple sublimate dAbs if I need to go further. Keep torching my friend!

Absolutely. At first, I thought the process was cumbersome, but now that I've found a UFO groove, it's quick and easy, I'm sure I can get fully subbed in half the time an Apollo warms up from cold. I think it's like learning how to drive on a standard transmission. And the routine I've come to like a lot, it's like a "tea ritual," I'm sure most sub owners know what I mean (if you know what a tea ritual is). But I am interested in the tradeoff of a more consistent temp for vaping that the Apollo provides. Then again, UFO is also cordless, which is great for passing around rather than being stationed at a base. Will just have to have both someday, what a problem.

PBW soak and rinse and then just use a steel pick for scraping the tuff bits.

I've never cleaned my atomizer part beyond scraping the sops of oil away when they show up.

I clean the screen regularly, and scrape out the top threaded bit when i take it apart but I stop cleaning there. I don't see the need to do more personally.

one time I had the great luck of getting the top screen "stuck" in place. It was lovely!oh man. no positioning the top screen before every hit. it was like that for a week until i have to clean it. never had the same luck again yet. :p

I posted this video to the glass forum but the 2nd half (@2:30) shows the Sub and SubBuddy in action.

More than lovin' the Sub so far.
Replicates closely enough (so as not to matter) my old combustion routine that I can now safely say I am never going back to combustion.

Verdict is still out on the SubBuddy. Seems like the two lower legs could/should be as short a possible to both lower the overall height and make it easier to drip sublimate into the jar.

Let me know what you guys think.

^ yes and yes! The subbuddy is a little big overall. The jar can't be filled because the drip tube takes up a lot of space in the jar.

I'd like a drop down version for us far sighted folks, and it would get the sub further away from your face

If you can unscrew the stem, you should be able to at least position a PV Fine screen right below the top lip. I drop the top screen on top but that's optional.

I prefer the screen to pop out. This is because it keeps the top screen super clean, only my second screen gets the nasty chunks, that's when I hold it upside down and use a MFLB brush inside the whole bowl part ( doing while atty is warm is easier too). Keeps everything really clean without having to iso.

Is there going to ever be a glass version of the atomizer and downstem? And also what about glass screens any future plans for all glass parts like the VapeXCloud? Wanting to buy one soon but don't want to get something that will be obsolete within months.

So far I'm liking the timer box Vs. my original apollo. I like using the timer for warm up :)
My only dislike is the length of the cord from the timer to the apollo, it's quite short. What's the verdict on heat up method anyway? Is it not safe to turn up to max for 5-10 mins then dial it down? I have been just setting it to my 33 watt sweet spot and waiting for the time being.

@Radiant
Although a glass atomizer would be great, i would think it would be far to easy to break?

You got it backwards; every other vape on the market will basically become obsolete Because of the sublimator!

They are coming out with Ti versions of everything I think around the end of this year, so I might wait a little while to get a sub or you could take part in the trade in program (if they offer one, which from my conversation with PV sounded like they would)

Interesting so is the Apollo version made out of stainless steel right now? Also the downstem looks kinda short what happens if it gets too wet from the splash in my bong?

i do agree the sputnik is tops ,but just wait till u get ur hands on an apollo!bought the mercury kit(no 240v version yet+alleged heater issues?+having 2 use step down converter,i would wait...)well,loved the theatrics of waving a blue flame around, but so many different factors, tip of the blue cone, how long the cone?which parts of sputnik?(hold up 2 night sky when heating, top hollywood re-entry effect, hence sputnik?)if come in high ur toasting it before ideal temp as it now cools,if u come in 2 cool+heat 2 get there, same sorta of thing.dont get me wrong it works great, leaves the apollo 4 dead in terms of speed,on its own traveling, sitting on the beach(ha,as enricos vid!:)it is top fun,it was certainly proof of concept+then some(fuk this is a whole story in its self:).i HAD 2 have an apollo previous reasoning cast aside:)but as u probally figured from everyone else +their prefered precise spot, dashing past upwards +downards of that point aint ever gonna b the same:)percent wise at best with sputnik,it was about 30%of what i get with apollo.because its nailed everytime,no up +down stuff.compleatly consistent.more so with a killa watt, currently winging its way:)no wonder people wernt turning theirs off.fuk i feel the same.shall probally buy a backup apollo(ha if only:).like some one said cant imagine not being sublimated.keys 2 the universe.every outrageous claim about the sublimator(+there sure is some pretty wild ones!!)i now know 2 b totally true.every single word........
