Aw, cmon man.. have a heart.

I took 8 years of french but I still couldn't read those certain words.

But it only took a couple of brain cells to figure them out from the context.

You still have a few brain cells left right? :p

My acrylic stem is cracking slowly more and more at the ends. :/ I switched to my glass stem now. The glass stem is building up some nice resin! :)

So, what is the cheapest place to get the legit/good MFLB batteries?
These are what I use and what's recommended on the magic flight vaporpedia page. I think $15 is pretty reasonable for four batteries :D

BlissSville has the best batteries.. Powerex 2400... made for the box, and out of over a dozen battery types (including eveready) that I tried... all have died... but my original batteries that came with the boxes(I own 3) all still function perfectly!

They also sell the old acrylic stems for $1 each!

Yep, the 2700's are awesome for a couple of months, but then they don't hold a charge for long. I'm trying the Imedion 2400's, $13.97 shipping included for a 4-pack from Thomas Dist. via Ecrater. So far so good.

They're good, but no batteries are immortal. My Imedions from BlissSville (also 3) are dying after long usage. A lot of recharges done. I have to agree they are great, duracells I've bought recently are powerful but I think they're gonna be dead sooner.

Just saw an ad on Facebook for The Launch Box...crazy man! Happy though that others are being introduced to the concept of non-combustion... :D

Bluntcrush,
hi everyone.. been reading this thread on and off for months and got many answers prior to registering and for that, thank you all..

I've been using MFLB since June of last year and , don't know if I am stupid or not but each and every one of them breaks after using it for a while.. I purchased 3 units and replaced them all within warranty already. So here's my issue (btw, I use LB 4-5 times a day)

week 1 : best thing in the world-- heats up in 2 seconds, vapor is visible.. I hold the battery max for 10 seconds and then when I exhale I see huge amounts of vapor clouds.. (using the sipping technique)
week 2 - 3 : LB gets a bit weaker, so I clean up with ISO , weekly - let it dry for about 3 hours or so, and to be able to get same amount of vapor, now I hold the battery about 12-14 seconds.
week 4 : visible vapor gets less and less, and now I use the LB with the PA only, and at its full power.
and by week 5 or 6 the trench gets ripped where the heating bars are and then I send it back and get a new one. Don't get me wrong their customer service is probably best in the world and if I ever do a business that involves selling a product, that's the model I will copy and implement to my bizz.. But it really gets annoying that the performance of the product is not the same after a while.. At some point I started using multiple LB's and rotate them to get a better quality but still, one by one - performance dropped and 2 of them already got ripped at the trench. I ordered the italian square APA Vaporizer and waiting to receive it in the mail.. If you share the same frustration or know something that I don't and could save me from breaking another box, please let me know..

BTW, I use the LB with a stopwatch and always count my seconds to prevent combustion.. it doesn't make any sence.. its like having a car and being able to reach 0-60 in 8 seconds, but a week later it is 8.5 seconds, then again a week later it is 10 seconds..

Haha! Okay...I knew I shoulda posted the link, so the next time I see it I will take heed and do it! One thing worth mentioning is it was sold by a company called Carrabas(?) or some such Looked like it could be another name for Blissville. Price was $120.00 (USD)

kingofqueens:

I can think of only 3 causes of performance drop:

1) Battery gets weaker.
- You say you are running on multiple LBs so this isn't the case.

2) The screen material degrades by heat.
- I think this causes mellowing the temp of the box in time. Causes slight performace drop.
- Maybe it has some effect, but I don't think it can make a performance drop that big.

3) Screen is partially ripping out.
- I think this is it, because the two before don't fit well and because you said they ripped completely after performance drop.

If your case is really the 3), i can advice only to be more gentle to the screen so it lives longer. My screen is ripping slowly off and I can also feel a slight performace drop because of that.

Damn, you've had some bad luck. I purchased my first and only LB in April of 2011 and use is at least 4 times a day. Still works perfectly!

I think your frequent use of ISO may be the problem. Too many people insist that the MFLB needs to be cleaned often. Cleaning the way you do is really only cosmetic in my opinion. I've only used alcohol once to clean my screen and it wasn't ISO (I can't stand that foul-smelling crap!) I've found that cleaning with alcohol doesn't improve the performance enough to even bother with it. The 2-3 extra seconds it takes to heat up is really no big deal. Is it? Let the IR heating properties of the box work for you. The slight resinous buildup actually works in your favor to prevent the herb from reaching combustion temp too quickly. Your method relies too heavily on the conduction heating properties of the box.

Magic Flight only recommends using the brush to clean the LB screen. I agree with this and would only recommend one additional cleaning step and that is to scrape excessive buildup off the trench shoulders with the blunt end of a flat toothpick. But only while the buildup is hot after vaping a session or two.

Kingofqueens man do i feel sorry for you!! Ive had my mflb since january 2011 same one never replaced, works like a champ and i use it a lot. Mine has a crack in the wood near the air intake hole on the back but it doesnt effect it. Honestly if MFLB insnt working for you consider ordering a set top vape, i just ordered an herbalaire, MFLB has it's times great for portibility and stealthyness but the high just doesnt cut it for me to use it as a primary device.

Kevdog420,
Best thing i have ever bought!!!!!!!! Currently waiting on proper OEM MFLB grinder.

This thing really is worth every penny! I also got the power adapter which raises it to a new level!

Thanks MFLB! anyone considering buying this DO IT you will not regret it!

Is there any reason why a rubber or cork stopper hollowed out to the right width for the MFLB stem/hole wouldn't be as good as the retail MFLB water pipe adaptor?

The only reason I would be sketch is the material...I remember reading somewhere that cork can be toxic, I think. And hollowed out rubber would probably be 'flaky' on the inside, which would make me worry about inhaling something.

Still. I'm thinking if I just whittled down a small block of wood to a 14mm size, and then drilled through the middle, it'd probably be perfectly healthy.

$30 seems a bit excessive. Any suggestions on the right material to use if I made an adaptor for myself?

Does Magic Flight have any exotic wood boxes for sale? I know they said they were going to put more out in the future, so I'm just checking. We will be getting our tax refund in a short while too, so I'll have the extra money. :)

Carefully carved wood... joined respectfully with a 14mm glass downstem "male" adapter......
with an MFLB "battery pushback ring" as the "lips that kiss the box natively" as the MFLB is used against it .... while it sits in a bong......

You can "jury rig" a hundred devices that could work.... but not likely as well as the one they make... and decidedly not as attractive or "portable".
There is a price tag attached to any name brand or designer item... that is made to match it's counterpart, in size... shape... style.. and logo! :)

Is it ok to clean the MFLB with Methylated Spirits?

Thanks.

Sounds like a really BAD idea! If you insist that your MFLB needs to be cleaned with a solvent use Everclear. At least it is made for human consumption.

Everclear Check the wiki article to see if it is available where you live.

How about you post a picture of your MFLB and we can tell you if you really need to clean it or not. Unless you've really messed something up there is no need to clean with alcohol.

Denatured alcohol should be fine if you're using a small bit on the screen and are careful to evaporate it all off before using (do a burn or two with the cover open). Keep it off the wood. Remember you don't want to be consuming the stuff, that wood alkie will mess you up.....

OF

Edit: It's also worth noting that most of us use high percentage ISO for this (full strength) which is itself used to 'poison' denatured alcohol sometimes, but at like 10%. I doubt any here would think adding nine parts pure Ethanol to that (diluting it down) would make it more dangerous....

I'm going to splurge and get me one of those power adapters, batteries can be a pain sometimes. :p For some reason those Powerex 2700s didn't last me more than a month or two. :(

I have one, in walnut. It's my understanding they all came from a single run of exotic woods. They gave me a list of four or five woods to choose from. In stock. Mine didn't match the then current production in small details, IMO it was 'old stock'.

They all seem to have the same, unique serial numbers in the format "LE-nn-nn" which I take to be 'limited edition' followed by two numbers (probably species type??)

Send them an email, a nice lady responds almost immediately. A while back I almost bought a fancy grain maple one (no walnut left at that time IIRC) but ended up spending the money on another vape......
