From reading your posts concerning this I have formed the opinion that in your mind virtually every replacement you have ever issued has been issued due to user error rather than a fault with the LB.

With that seed of an idea in your head, your customer service can only suffer.

See, this is the kind of attitude that draws negative posts. You have an assumption about MF, and whatever they do, write or say that won't change. Don't assume you know what's in another person's head.

Just keep in mind that most other companies will do everything to avoid issuing warranty units, especially if there's the slightest hint of the user doing the damage.

I'm sorry you're disappointed and think the LB is a faulty design. I'm probably speaking for lot of us here when I say that I had mine for months now, without any problems or damage on the box.

I will stop writing now because the nasty thoughts are coming again... *reaches for LB*

MF isn't going to offer quibble free replacements forever if he believes that the vast majority are due to user error.

As for the faulty design, its a conclusion based on my limited sample of 3 LBs. I may be completely wrong. If the replacement policy hadnt been changed so that the customer now has to return the LBs I really wouldnt be voicing my concern.

Mod note: From our standpoint, all necessary points have been made on this issue. If you have anything more to discuss with MF, please take it to private correspondence.

Hi everyone, first post but ive been lurking for over a year, since before i got my SSV. Well about 3 weeks ago i got a MFLB from a local headshop (and have been %95 fucking combustion ever since except for a small group of friends who dont seem to care much for vaping). for $130 because 1. i couldnt use my parents CC and didnt want it shipped to their house 2. i didnt want to wait even a week to get it and 3. the shop wanted $149 for it but has a %15 off sale on all "smokeshop accessories" every sunday, so at least i didnt feel terrible about $130 knowing there must be other people near me who have payed $150.

anyway i have read through the last 30 or so pages and searched but haven't seen it addressed anywhere so my question is this. ive noticed some dark brown stuff has built up on the inside of my trench at the top where the bars support the trench, it almost looks more like combustion resin than vape honey. im just wondering if this is normal and if anyone has a good way to clean it? also a comment about cleaning it before sending for warranty service got me curious about how well it could actually be cleaned so i took a flashlight and put it on the plexi above the screen and looked through the draw hole and saw a whole bunch of black shit that i assume would be nearly impossible to clean, and still reminds me more of combustion resin then honey because of the color.
i will admit i have scorched the load a few times, but only a handful of times within the first few days while learning and trying to teach newbie friends. although i do vape quite a fair bit of kief in it so im wondering if this might be where its coming from.

my only problem has been a dim/flickering LED(i know its dim because i have 2 friends with boxes and their lights are much brighter) i emailed MF about this but was slightly disappointed to hear that its not covered by warranty. MF is absolutely correct that it still functions without it, but i feel slightly duped that all it says is "lifetime functional warranty" on their website, and in the directions packaged with the box, never defining what that actually means and covers. and i suppose after seeing all the discussion on here and knowing they even cover user error, i assumed(wrongly) that a defect like a faulty LEd would be covered. not trying to start anything here just my opinions and observations
But with that said, i absolutely love my MFLB, use it everyday, and take it everywhere with me i even took it with to the new harry potter movie last week and vaped several trenches with other people sitting only about 4 seats away

they will even replace it if the user is an idiot and breaks it out of stupidity. I don't know any company that will do that. Please tell me if you do, because I'd really love to know! :D

skullcandy headphones, just saying, haha

Cool!! Glad to know there is another company that does it too. :)

I don't see myself buying these anytime soon, though.

Vaporgin. said:
i wouldnt suggest it, they break often

skullcandy warranty is similar, but 1.they only cover user error %50 (they give you half off if its your fault)and 2. they make you send them off before they will send anything.
IME skullcandy FMJ's are the best headphones i've ever owned, excellent sound quality and i have never had any problems with them for over a year and a half. although my friend did get the exact same headphones at the same time and his the cord broke, but it was in a snowboarding crash and his mp3 player came flying out of his coat, IMO many headphones would not survive this. but he did replace them with a newer pair of FMJ(we bought them at like 66% off and he would have to pay half the full msrp so it was cheaper to get another pair at 66%off) with the inline mic and he says the sound quality isnt as good and they feel cheaper. so i think you may have a point in regard to the newer ones as i have heard of problems where one ear will go out

p.s. sorry for such a long first post

Desktop Power Supply ordering/pre-orders will open in the morning (when the server has completed its backup). Initially, purchase and distribution of Beta units will be limited to FC membership only, specifically to those posters who have been active in this thread prior to the cutoff date. The current provisional cost is $59 plus shipping and applicable taxes (this figure will be revised once we have a better sense of our actual production costs).

For reasons of sanity, we ask that the link above not be posted or copied outside of this forum.

Have Fun!

Once again MF comes up with a FANTASTIC solution to a problem. Kudos to you MF.
Stuey why in the world would you not have the two faulty boxes in your possession? When I had a CS issue with MF they did not ask me to return my faulty box, they did however ask that I keep it in case I have another issue with the new box which makes sense to me on MANY levels one of them being so I dont give away or sell a faulty box. The thing is so small.....pretty easy to throw in a "junk" drawer and keep on hand just in case. :2c:

As I said I have no objections to returning the LB provided you pay for the postage, however I dont have the old ones. I am fairly certain that you wouldnt expect someone to keep hold of the old ones for any length of time, so Im a little uncertain as to why you would be asking me to return something you should be fairly certain I dont have.

The tone of your post suggests that you are not the kind of person who takes criticism well. I have told you that I have never used anything but the brush on the screen. That is 100% true. The implication of your post is that your forensic analysis may show me to be a liar. I am not and I do not like tha allegation.

I have had 2 boxes that showed the same fault. Take that on board, accept it and work from there!
If it was me there's no way I would have thrown away two MFLB's, even if the screen is screwed or whatever I would have just kept them aside, not chucked them in the dustbin. Magic-Flight's last post was intense and there's really nothing they said that can't be agreed with.

If you had 2 boxes that showed the same fault that nobody else seems to be able to replicate that easily, then chances are you were brushing too hard or something. Give it up.

I had a warranty issue with one of my original boxes and was treated very well by MF, had my replacement lickety split along with a handwritten note. I also understand that some people try to take advantage of a loose warranty system which is unfortunate. I have gone through much more dealing with warranties on other items though and do give kudos to MF for their customer service.

I loved mine so much I bought additional boxes, I now have 3 :) and now a power adapter coming soon. Almost everyone I let try the boxes decides they need one too! It is a great little vape and a wonderful company to deal with IMHO. :2c:

Looking forward to the power adapter too :D

I lost my Launch Box; specifically, the cat knocked it off the edge of the desk where it was sitting (my fault), and into the wastebasket. Cleaning person dumped the garbage, and voila....no Launch Box.

Was I even tempted to try to get a free one? No. I'm ordering a new one. The product is that good and very durable. And now that the adapter is 'here', it makes it even more Christmassy :)

OK well the mods have said no further discussion, so Ill abide by that.

I do want to make one thing very clear, despite the negativity surrounding my posts, I really do like the LB and think its a fantastic vape.

I dont want people to think that I am in any way disappointed in how it performs.. I think its great and I use it almost every day.

EU orders are accepted? Can I order it with a launchbox (I was planning on getting a backup box)?

Hi,

We do accept EU orders. Please be aware that it may take some time, since it has to pass customs. At the moment, we have not yet setup a process for ordering anything else. We have been wanting to post links for being able to purchase units made with special woods, etc, but that will also take a little longer to get setup and finalized.

See:

This builds up more quickly if you usually load the trench right to the top. I usually load a little less, and although it still builds up eventually it does so much more slowly. It isn't from combustion, it's the same honey you'd get in any other vape. It's the same stuff building up under the screen.

Ordered and looking forward to the power adapter. I will proudly place it by my beta unit when the adapter comes time for its retirement!

Love my regular MFLB and due to crap happening I had to use my warranty. Actually I contacted MFLB and explained my issue and they said yes it is a warranty issue, my "new" batteries did not fit correctly. Not only did "they" say it was a warranty issue, I thought I bought the wrong the batteries but I had asked prior to doing that. This was discovered within 4 days of me going on a trip and I only use the MFLB a handful times a year or so when I go away from my home. Due to my disability it is sorta rare that I leave but when I do the MFLB/or whichever device is a mandatory for me.

MFLB had it at my door in time for my trip, in time and processed everything so fast superman would have been proud. I also did not explain to MFLB that I was going on a trip until after I received an email saying it was sent and checked personally to fit the batteries for which I have. My issue was handled just like any other without any need to press the issue to make it seem more important as to rush it faster. I respect this.

I am a proud MFLB owner and even prouder I was able to be a beta tester and have a small link to the company which really does seem to care. Great product and great people in my view!

Hi,

It is normal, though it usually depends on what is regularly loaded -- some varieties produce these effects more than others. The recommendation is simply to leave it be and treat it in a manner similar to that generally used for a grinder (ie, don't attempt to clean it unless there is a clear need to do so). It is expected that a residue will build up to a certain 'working limit' in some areas and then stop. Usually, it will not affect the function of the vape (I have seen only a few extreme cases where it has, and this is covered). For more details, you may want to check the Vaporpedia FAQ posted at the top of this site.

TerrorTurkey said:

That makes more sense. The Box was designed for ground loose herb, and is not really configured for concentrates (oils or resins). Although it will work for borderline materials, your observations above become progressively more likely as the mix gets 'richer'.

TerrorTurkey said:

The 'dim' aspect may be because we have had to change light vendors and the new ones are not as bright (we don't have the equipment to make the lights, and the brightness varies a bit from batch to batch). However, your report of the light flickering but the unit otherwise working fine seems to indicate that this issue might bear more looking into on our part. How recent was the purchase? While the kind of light we are required to use does not last forever (it is like most lights in that respect -- hence the policy), it is possible that may be other things going on. Give me a few days to see if I can check into it so I can get back to you.

I will be making a nice video when my power adapter comes. I have a video on my camera I made a few days after getting the box (months ago) of "LB hits through the stem in sunlight" haha sounds like an impressionist painting :) that Ive been slacking on editing it up to look good and include a full review. I wanted to wait until I mastered the box before I give my full video review opinion to the world. So when the power adapter comes that will be the perfect time to get them all together and make a sweet LB vid.

Was it said in the thread how many beta power adapters will be sent out in this first release? Just curios.

Thanks pakalolo. i had seen that before i got my MFLB but totally spaced and didnt even think about it, even though ive seen you post links to it many times while reading over the thread.

it says to use my brush to clean it, but i lost it after about 2 weeks and have been using one that i think came with a bear trimmer or something like that. but i think the original was real hair and this one is nylon or some kind of flexible plastic so i was wondering if the ISO could react with the plastic and leech chemicals or anything like that. do you think it would be safe to use a Q-tip with a little ISO to clean the screen instead of this plastic brush?

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Stainless-steel-Nose-Hair-Trimmer-Battery-Operated-/180591642492
the brush in those pictures looks almost identical to the one ive been using ( :uhoh: i hope no one used it to clean their nose hair trimmer before i started using it, i found it at my friends cabin and originally used it to scrape kief)

p.s. ive been looking, i know my brush must be here somewhere because i know i last had it at my house, but im absolutely stumped about where i left it

Walmart sells a generic multiple (6 or 7) makeup brush kit for like 2 bucks. They are in a clear case with blue handles. There are a few different agles of brushes that work well for all the tight spots and they are VERY SOFT.....in comparison to the stock LB brush they are sooo much softer.

For how delicate the LB screens are we can never be too safe. And they are by no means too soft to clean a dirty box. I picked up a second pack the other day because I lose brushes like I used to lose lighters :)

Edit: Here it is....http://www.minimus.biz/Mon-Image-Mini-Makeup-Brush-Set-S02-0456809-9100.aspx

But you should be able to find it at walmart

Absolutely safe, assuming a light touch. Too much pressure with any tool isn't adviseable. Heat up the empty box once it's cleaned, to quickly evap the ISO.
