You might want to try a coarse screen for the top side or run the Herbalizer without the top screen. If you're just running straight concentrates then you don't need the top screen.

    EDIT:

What is likely happening is your concentrate pad is floating to the top of the chamber and soaking your top screen with concentrates. The same thing can happen to your bottom screen as well. I would suggest using both concentrate pads and a very small amount of concentrate in the middle of them like a sandwich. If you find that you need more you can always add another small piece after the first one, the key is to avoid getting the pads absolutely saturated. this method in combination with what I said above should help.

Whoa! I have the S&B Dosing Capsules and never even thought of this. I must try it out. I love my Herbie, but seem to be using it less and less. Hopefully, this brings it back in a major way for me.

Do you need some sort of special adapter to use the hydratube with it?

A very useful and popular option for Herbie to hydratube connection is made by our own @Ratchett

It also works much better than the stock whip connection IMO as whip stays firmly attached. Stock whip setup is not a very firm/secure attachment IMO.

HT sets on his adapter for a firm, no leak connection BUT best to not leave HT on by itself----keep a hand on HT/ and/or remove between hits.

Special note----you can use HT with Herbie fan for a "turbo hit" :)

i have used my adapter on so many different pipes. when i lost the top mouthpiece on my solid valve, i just put the @Ratchett thing into a bubbler and put the bag on top of it and pushed. it worked great!

ratchett, that is the handiest thing i've ever had for paraphernailia (sp). just so many ways to use it from the top or the bottom. many thanks for the invention!

good ideas. i had lost my 2nd concentrate pad so that was the problem i guess. i found a couple i had ordered awhile ago and the sandwich method works pretty well. i had to try shatter for my wake and bake. man am i baked! or vaked i guess. :)
i rarely vape just shatter. i usually put .05 of flower on the bottom, a chunk of shatter on the pad and fire it up. low heat at first, around 385 then up to 415 to finish it off. i usually get two, 90 second bag fulls!

    --------------------------------------------------
hey bag users - do you usually make the bags big enough for a full 90 seconds of fan or do you make them smaller and why.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

i just got an oz of green crack (I LOVE THIS GENETIC at 385 and 415 degrees) and a gram of green crack shatter and a gram of blue dream shatter. i have some other great buds, a few grams of this and a few grams of that. buying it legally (medical) is so cool. i hope we all get to enjoy legal weed before too long. then again, i've been hoping that since 1969 so...

    --------------------------------------------------------
i grew for years. i always smoked one genetic per day and switched every day. lately, i've been vaping one genetic for a couple bags then a different one for a bag or 2. no rhyme or reason to it. if you guys have a choice in genetics, how do you vape them? one at a time or a mixture?

I recently purchased a Herbalizer from Vapornation for $480 in addition to the Vapexhale Cloud Evo I bought two weeks ago. Looking forward to comparing them both. The folks at Vapornation also gave me back 10% off my purchase ($48 dollar credit), and another 20% off coupon which I will use toward a Mighty Vape on 4/20. :)

I usually blast my concentrates at high heat +430F if they're full melt.
I try to make them the perfect size with my Volcano SV. Which looks like it's about 20" worth of bag material. That being said it's better to have a larger bag than a small bag because it will start venting vapour elsewhere if the bag becomes over filled, (I modded my SV so I don't have to hold it down). I experimented with a small bag but it just ended up meaning that I had to watch the bag as it was filling and also fill more bags.
I love green crack too, one of my most favourite strains. Here's to hoping that Canada is a fully legal county soon! They're supposed to be changing laws this month or spring?
When I have multiple strains I tend to switch between them, even between sessions. It depends what I'm in the mood for and what time of day it is. Sometimes I want to be mellow and sedated so I would pick Bubba Kush, or sometimes I want to be energetic and active so I load up some Green Crack. Different strains have their time and place for me.

I'm currently looking forward to buying a mighty. I don't have or think I will ever acquire VAS but I do need a top of the line portable vape. I have an 1/8th of this OG Kush left. Once I'm through with that I'm going to go on a tolerance break so I can save for a Mighty. It's like $400 but I wonder if I can get a good deal on it. I currently have $110 saved for it. If I don't buy any weed for 3 weeks (which is a tough thing to do, I must admit) I can afford the mighty AND a quarter oz. Which should be more than enough to test it out.

Also, is it me or has herbalizer stopped selling the Chong's Choice option? I got it because it was only $400 on black friday/cyber monday but it seems to no longer be sold.

The Mighty is well worth the price and is a power house of a portable vape. It'll hold its own against the Herbalizer, while offering a different experience.

I have a Mighty and Herbalizer. Of course, they are TOTALLY different, but I love them both. Lately, I have found myself going to my Volcano more than the Herbalizer, but it's only because I only have 'stock' Herbie bags. I need to use my glass with the Herbie more, but it's hard to find the time to do it and keep things relatively on the DL.

So I didn't even get to finish my 1/8th before i went and bought more grass.

My dealer had headband and afgoo. So I bought an 1/8th of each. He even gave me a $15 discount because I did him a favor. I could not pass up a quarter ounce for $55 when they're normally $70.

Thevapelifestore.com has 20 percent sales all the time even for very minor holidays and they include the mighty. If you're patient you can find it for 320-330 dollars from legit sites.

even using the concentrate pads, with the shatter in between them, my top screen is very sticky after 4 or 5 bags. i vape 2 bags for every bit of shatter. i guess it's just a part of getting stoned this way. i've alway liked the feel of sticky icky.

i have a nector collector for dabbing but i prefer the high i get vaping through the herbie with a bit of bud on the bottom.

good thing i bought a bunch of screens. like 20 of them. :)

It sounds like the shatter is turning into droplets in the air stream and splattering against your top screen =/

I've always had my biggest success with concentrates when putting them in the herbalizer with a bed of ground herb. It seems to be the cleanest way of doing things.

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster, I just made some introductions in the EVO thread since that my daily driver at the moment. But since I'm not a current Herbalizer user, I need some help on whether or not it needs calibrated at the factory or if its just not the vape for me. I owned and used the Herbie as a daily driver for nearly 6 months before receiving the EVO for context, I am NOT coming from EVO to Herbie with fog machine expectations like most. I originally only purchased the EVO+HT kit because I wanted an HT for my herbalizer and thought it would be prudent to have a back-up vape.

I use my herbalizer exclusively on 445 because otherwise i won't get vapor until the third bag.

I use bags only with my Herbie, as whip/whip-to-bubbler and Hydratube via @Ratchett SonG v2.0 even with fan assist produce no visible vapor or effect. I cannot white wall a piece like I have seen in videos on here.

I have already upgraded to SSV tubing, @Ratchett SonG v2.0, I have a Volcano Solid Valve on indefinite loan, I have used the domed screen method and the wax pad reducer methods with little results.

I also go through a TON more herb in the Herbie compared to the EVO, and was hoping that the Herbie would be my efficiency piece but I'm starting to lean more towards selling/trading it for a log.

Keep in mind, that I have an extremely high tolerance and go through 1oz every week.

    Glad to join the community!

    Welcome.

Here's a few questions that might help with an answer. First, what type of grind are you doing? Do you have the same issues with a full bowl versus a pad reducer or other small load (I've personally struggled getting decent results from less than a full bowl)? Do you get the same results with fresh, clean screens (screen cleanliness seems to be the biggest contributor to best performance)?

I find that the second and third bag tend to be thicker than the first, but even the first bag should produce some visible vapor at 445. Preheating the bowl before loading can help a little with the first bag, especially if you are in a cold room.

I use a medium grind for the Herbalizer. I'm not actually using the pad reducer method to decrease bowl size, but because it seems to help with vapor production even when the bowl is filled up to the line. Clean screens are a non-issue for me as I use ceramic tweezers and torch mine clean multiple times a day while rotating them between sessions.

I've recently started experimented with pre-heating the bowl with mixed results, i find that the herbalizer is really a convection/conduction vape personally, because that SS sleeve in the bowl needs to get hot and stay hot to function right.

I'm more concerned with the fact that for such an expensive hybrid vape, only the bag method produces sufficient results for me, and I don't even like bag vapes. Coupled with fact that it function best with the solid valve, just doesn't seem quite right. As far as whip functionality goes, I've used 7th Floor whip vapes before and were more impressed vapor wise than the Herbie.

Nothing I've tested tastes as good as an Herbalizer though, and the temp control is a huge plus. But, I thought this would be the "medical" vape, but honestly, I don't see this as a particularly good vape for someone for a patient that's not a part of the scene, because of the near necessity of user created mods and hacks to get it working. Someone convince me that I NEED this device in my lineup, when a used volcano (bags) and an e-nano (direct draw like whip) are what my insides are telling me to trade/sell this for.

EDIT: Is this all starting to sound like I should get my Herbie sent out for repair by chance?
