new to the list.
I just got my new Extreme Q on Wed. Got it on ebay for $199. Went right for the elbow pack and used alot of the advice from this thread about temps and warming up. It has been AWESOME!!! Anyone on the fence needs to JUST DO IT! bags and whip, but I like the whip at the moment.
It's so small, unassuming and the blue light is cool. its soooo quiet and really stretches the herb out alot.
Thanks to everyone for their input in helping me make decision and how to get the most out of it.
Vape ON!

The power cord came the next day, packaged very nicely and it works! Perfect service.

hey guys!!! I'm pretty sure i'm going to purchase the new Extreme Q 4.0. I was curious if you guys could help me find a good place to buy. I'm also a little confused with the new warranty policy I've read about Arizer. Do I HAVE to buy it at 300 from an "authorized dealer" now for warranty? I found one on Amazon with a grinder for 250...and one for 200 on ebay.. But I don't want to get jipped with no warranty as alot of research has shown that a good % of people have something go wrong at first.

Random question: what components would i need to set the vape up with one of those water bong things?

I appreciate the input, i'm incredibly new to vaping and know next to nothing. I try to research my own but it's hard sometimes with the vague info on certain vape issues

thanks :)

ok, got my Q yesterday and was a little baffled when i couldnt really get much vapor out with the whip. so I loaded two bags, used approx .3-.4 gr and man was I baked. Cant remember when i was that baked the last time. Definitely super awesome! but I want to know more of this elbow pack use. I cant believe I've become this stupid as I dont get what you guys mean by "packing an elbow pack". I tried figuring this out while baked but couldnt. I mean I have two cyclone bowls one small L- shaped piece and then the whip. I dont understand how u can put herb into the small L -shaped piece? is that what is meant by elbow pack? I mean u cant put herb in there.(?) And u cant attach it to the vaporizer either, it doesnt fit. so u have to use the cyclone bowl? of do I have to change place of the grill in the cyclone to the other side? If someone could elaborate, would be great, I really dont get it :D
anyways, was my first time using the bag, made first bag at 195 second at 210. both filled nicely. and was very nice:brow:
I'm at work now and I think I'm still baked, eventho it was 8 hrs ago..

edit: ok, read thru the entire thread, now i know what is elbow packing. sorry.. :-)

vittujoo- I too am new to the ExtremeQ. The L Shaped piece on the whip. where you slide it into the cyclone bowl. that underside with a screen.. that is what you pack...don't worry, it won't fall out.

But I just found the REAL trick to the whip!! It's all about THE PUFF!!

Puff the whip, don't straight pull off it. Puff it like a hookah or a pipe to build that pressure and heat on the bowl...it gives better vapor and will help you get the most out of a pack.

I packed some of my "burnt" stuff (more like toasted brown) back in the elbow, turned it to 230 and puffed....got LOTS more hits. I think shorter puffs allows the heating element to stay hotter as opposed to a long slow straight draw from it (as I was doing before).

hey bNb, i puff on the whip sometimes as well. i like to use fan speed one and do little puffs, in good light u can see the vapour fill the elbow. so u puff, let it fill, puff, let it fill, etc. keep on experimenting, you will have your machine mastered in no time

that's exactly what I do...look for the smoke in the elbow..puff, let it fill....etc.

It does take a little playin with that's for sure.

Received my Extreme Q a week ago and have been using it 3 or 4 times daily. I refrained from posting here until reading the entire thread, which I have. I did post a review comparing Da Buddha with Extreme Q that can be found here.

Thank you! I learned a lot about using the EQV from you, fellow users. I'm quite fond of the product although I've encountered some shortcomings. Firstly, I broke my glass mixer so I'm not a virgin anymore!

But my biggest beef is the screen system in the cyclone bowl. Because debris gets clogged in the elbow I gently exhale after toking to blow the herb back in the cyclone bowl and moisten. This invariable leads to a small amount of debris getting lodged on the heater cover. Once, the fan started grinding. Fortunately I could clear it.

Here are my notes on usage. I'm not into bags. I feel they produce stale vapor, aren't worth the production for a measly 3 or 4 hits, and look plain stupid (to me!). As a matter of fact I'm selling an Arizer 4 Balloon Kit on this forum.
http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?pid=73024#p73024 (#30)

I'm also not into elbow loads. You have to try a hit from the Da Buddha wand to appreciate how harsh and dry a EQV elbow load is in compassion. (http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=3032)

But I love the EQV whip and cyclone bowl! I use .3 to .4g. After percolating 5 minutes or so @ 200c I take a few (clean but not too milky) tokes and dial it up to 205c. From there I use the fan on F1 to give me 6 or so milky shots. I dial it up to 210c and get another 6 shots on Fi and F2. Dial it up to 215-220c and get a few more not so milky shots. I'm getting at least 15 good hits on .3 to .4g. I'm happy with that yield!

I find the color the herb turns depends on the herb I use. Some turns brown, some turns orange, some turns coffee.

That's all for now... :peace:

Not to be a stickler pappy but u say the bag gives stale vapour but u take 15 hits with the whip??? I imagine the 3rd or 4th hit will start getting pretty bunk tasting and the next 10 or so got to be super "stale." How is the elbow more dry than the cyclone pack, this doesnt make sense to me. The vapour is more thick in the elbow which gives it its "harshness" as you call it, but that is the thick, rich tasty hits that many of us are looking for. I wouldn't give up on your bags and elbow pack just yet pappy. I would say that its a safe assumption to say that at least 75% of people who try the elbow pack use it exclusively from then on due to the richness of the hits and its high efficiency compared to the cyclone pack. I did just try packing the cyclone for whip hits again for the first time in a good long while, and it was decent. Gave me maybe 1 or 2 more tasty hits per bowl, and probably about an extra 5 hits more per pack or so compared to the elbow. However I still think i like the elbow more. The cyclone pack just consumes too much weed compared to the elbow pack (even though im not too concerned with this), u get more hits but they dont pack that "umpff" the elbow pack does, and there are more hits but the majority of them are popcorny tastying. I would rather just pack the elbow, get a few good tasty rips, dump and repeat. I think if u divide that cyclone pack into 3 elbow packs, u will be higher from the 3 elbows compared to 1 cyclone pack even though it is the same amount of herb simply because of the way the vapour is delivered. Not to say the cyclone pack isnt an good method, im just saying keep and open mind and mix things up. The versatility of the extreme is one of its best qualities in my opinion.

I've been lurking for awhile, after i had a friend got me vaped. we were smoking a water bong and i got pretty buzzed and turned down the bong when he tried to hand it to me  telling him I was high, he said you just think your high and broke out a box vape and it got me RIPPED! :uhoh: now, another friend recently got a vapir 5.0 & i like the taste, the high, everything about using a vape, so I'm ready to buy my 1st vape & i decided i wanted the new extreme Q, i contacted arizer w/some questions about the unit & ordering direct and having to deal w/customs for a package coming from Canada to the states..they said the new extreme Q isn't a version 4.0, they said it didn't have a version #, that it is just Q..they told me i could make sure i was getting the newest version by the face around the display is black, while other versions were shiny around the display & i could get it from any authorized retailer and keep my receipt for warranty. well everywhere seems to have it listed @ $299..i found 1 place it was $269..well in the pursuit of the best deal i ran across this eBay listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250626598801&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I'm not sure if posting that link is against the rules, if so, mods please remove the link..anyways this seller says he is an authorized retailer for arizer and is selling the new for 2010 extreme Q, the pic is black around the display & it comes with all the accessories for $196 +9.99 s&h-for a total of $205.99. his feedback is 98.2% with over 700 transactions..i was just wondering how he can sell this for so much less than anyone else & if any members had any dealings with this seller & if any vape shops had a price match program before i order it from this seller. i am so ready to fuck combustion! i think i will give all my pipes to my friends, except for a few that were 1 of a kind made for me by glass blowers i know + i want to keep a pipe in my shop in-case i don't have time to come in the house and get vaped, i can leave it in my toolbox with the bowl loaded & hit it if time is tight & keep a pack of papers in my 4wheeler in case when riding my friends and I want to smoke..cough cough gag..lol..i would really like to get this thing on its way to me but i don't want to deal with a unreliable seller, so any input would be great!

I use Purple Power. It's a glassware cleaning product available at many online and on the the ground headshoppes. I keep a ziplock bag with some PP in it and when i've got two or three screens that need cleaning, i drop them in. Inside of a couple hours(or whenever you want after then) I take them out and rinse them under hot water, then let them air dry. A little bit can last for a month.

It worked perfectly on my pipes in the ol' days and it's cleaning my screens and EQ glassware now, but I'm sure there are other options.

All due respect, Mr. Smoke, I've given elbow loads a fair shake. Compared to Cyclone bowls I find elbows hard to draw, harsh on the throat, dry, and not worth the bother for 4-6 hits, especially in light of owning a Da Buddha. Please don't take this personally. IMO nothing compares to to moist, clean, milky clouds produced by Da Buddha if you're looking for a six hit session. People take great pride in their vapes, including me, but elbow loads don't cut it for hit and run sessions compared to a DBV. That's what DBV was designed for! Please refer to this post that reviews EQV and DBV side by side.
http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=3032

Now, IMO, Cyclone bowls is where the EQV shines. If I want to chill and do a 12-15 hit session, or I have friends over, I find EQV the best alternative. I like fan shots on F1. Mastering toke techniques, as browning notes above, is the key to getting the most out of Cyclone bowl use. I can see vapor forming as the herb rises. I fill bowl halfway to black rim. Any more and the elbow screen seems to get clogged. No screen system is perfect and I've gotten debris on the heater cover by blowing clogged herb back into the Cyclone from the elbow.

Bags ain't my bag.

the easiest way is to get a bottle of isppropyl alcohol and a shot glass. put screens in shot glass, cover with iso. let it sit for a min. shake it around. rinse. repeat if necessary.

pappy the EQ has a black face plate. the E is silver. both have the mirror

Ah, thanks! Rinsing your glass and screens in rock salt and hot water after the iso 91 bath gets off that hard to remove crust... Can you tell I once worked on Mad Ave?

that was told to me directly from arizer customer support: here is a copy of the email:

The best way to find out if a Dealer has the most current model is to ask them. To be clear, the newest model is called the Extreme-Q Vaporizer, and there is no 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0 classification. Some dealers may use number systems to differentiate themselves from competitors, so beware of misleading advertisements, and make sure to ask if the model they are selling is the new Extreme-Q Vaporizer. A good way to distinguish between the older Extreme Vaporizer and the new Extreme-Q Vaporizer is the older Extreme has a silver face plate around the LCD, whereas the Extreme-Q has a black faceplate around the LCD.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or require any clarification please let me know.

Kevin

i also have found the extreme Q on eBay for $199 w/free shipping...I'm not sure i want to buy one off of eBay tho, I'd like to get it from a vaporizer sales site, that way i could get technical details if i needed them, but no vape sales sites has them as cheap as eBay..so i guess my hand is being pushed to go w/eBay, if i have any questions I'll just go straight to arizer for any questions or problems..i re-read the email from arizer and they said i could buy the EXTREME Q from anyone so long as it was new and they would stand behind the warranty, using my receipt to verify how old it is.

Hey guys,

I'd like to change my tubing out for something a little wider in diameter. Also, i'm interested in a water filter setup. Anyone have any ideas or links?

I don't want anything too arty -not my scene- just something functional, and preferably, freezer safe.

Thanks.

no customs. I wouldn't be too leary of eBay if the seller has good feedback and specializes in vapes.

I just now am toking off my brand new Extreme Q as I type this! I just bought an oz of good and am thoroughly enjoying popping my vape cherry!

I got really interested in vaporizers a couple months ago, and last week spent a lot of time doing interwebz research. I have to say I was kind of in the dark about the vape world until I found your forum. Your discussions and reviews helped me sooooo much.

Purple Days was my first choice - I liked the design, efficiency, and simplicity. UNFORTUNATELY THEY'RE ALL OLD OUT UNTIL JESUS RETURNS. So Oh well. I didn't want to spend $900 to suck vapor out of a bag and buy a digital volcano, and the old school wooden ones and some of the other mediocre models weren't doing it for me. The friggin heat wand of death seemed like the ideal way to go - but I knew that I would have someone over and accidentally BRAND THEM with it so I decided it seemed like too much of a hassle. It came down to between Da Buddah and Extreme Q - and yeah I picked this one.

The first thing I did as I fired it up was report back to you guys haha

I think I got a good start. I read some ppls saying that 160 - 165 C is ideal. I loaded up a little over a gram after preheating it for 15 minutes. I started sucking away and didn't get anything but taste. I adjusted the temp to like 190 and after sucking long and hard I got some vapor. I'm def feeling really good and am rambling on so it's obviously taking effect. But I've seen some videos with the Heat Wand of DEATH and I think purple days too where the vapor is MILKY. So what do you reccommend I do for that? Higher heat? Breathe in longer?

Btw Thanks you're all the best! I'm so stoked to be smoke freeeeeeeeeee

ALSO!!!! I actually have a bit of friggin information to give as well, I'm not just randomly raving. I got my Extreme Q 4.0 (the one with the blue UFO light and shit) off Ebay as well. I was skeptical as shit because at first there weren't ANY BIDS. But then within a couple hours they started flying off. I gave it a go and after an intense bidding war won at $173.00. I've seen these things not go any higher than $199. That's FUCKING BRAND NEW. In the box with shrink wrap and a kiss from the manufacturer. Most of these ebay stores hold authorized reseller status and some are just selling stock from a store that went under. Either way is fine with me. But yeah it feels gangsta to buy a brand new vape that goes for $300 new for $170 :)

So my advice is this:

(1. Check the seller's sell count and rating. Don't buy from anyone with a rating of less than 99%. Also don't buy from a seller that doesn't have a perfect 100% rating if they have less than 15 sells.

(2. Double check the titles AND descriptions for it to clearly state "ARIZER EXTREME Q". Some sellers have been trying to sell V-Towers as Extreme Q's.

(3. Check to see if the seller states that they are an authorized reseller. Exreme Q's are guaranteed FO LYFE but they won't send you a new vape when yours breaks if you buy it from Uncle Yu's garage bootlegs. So make sure the reseller actually says they are a authorized reseller. And if you want, message them and ask them for verification or ask if they would mind you asking Arizer if they are an authorized reseller and under what business name they are listed.

(4. Once you've found a vape and reseller you're happy with, just set your bid price to $199. I watched the auctions on these things and they generally close at somewhere between $180 - $195. You can do the "Buy It Now" option on these things for $199 usually, but that's not any fun ;) If you can get this for under $200 you're already stealing, so just set your bid price to $199 and you'll ultimately win and if it ends up lower that's great too.

(5. Beware the shipping scam. Alot of these sellers will want something to appear to be enticing, so they'll set it with a really low list price, but fill it out by padding the shipping cost. What I mean by padding is it's very common to see people asking between $8 - $20 to ship a small item with priority USPS mail. If you can avoid this (like I did, I received mine 2 days after winning it and paid NO SHIPPING) then that's definentaly the best way to go. But if you can't always add that into your final price. If it goes over $200 with the shipping you probably can do a little better.

Woowwowoowowowow. I'm in the stratosphere.

Happy vaping peoples.
