The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

This is "Yet Another I Just Got Mine" post. Well it came today. So I took it out of the box and thought it looked smaller than I imagined, and pretty light. So I carefully unpacked all the glass and was impressed. I got like double of everything. Anyway, I warmed it up for 15 minutes on a high setting. I then backed it down to 200 and packed the cyclone bowl. I put quite a bit in but I didn't weigh it first. It was filled with grinded SLH and ready to go.

I tried to fill a balloon first, but I didn't have the mouthpiece in correctly and it was blowing out into the air. Not knowing how turn the fan off, quite a few seconds was lost, hehe. Once I got it right, I filled a balloon. It took a couple minutes in all to fill on speed 3. It was not a long wait in any way. Speaking of that, the unit seemed to warm up to 250 C REALLY fast.

I shared the balloon with another person. We got, I think 2 or 3 pulls each. First time using bags for both of us. Wow. Powerful, tasty, mind expanding. The ballon was filled with milky vapor and went down very easy. With what was left in the cyclone bowl we tried a couple of regular whips. Again, getting a few draws.

Well, that was enough. I spent the next couple of hours wandering round the house fretting over where to put all those pieces that came with this killer machine. Now, I should point out that I have used traditional methods for over 30 years, and the other guy is a twenty something know-it-all stoner. We also use medical grade herbs exclusively. I only say this to point out that neither of us is a lightweight who got blown away by their first EQ experience! We both could not believe how great this is. To say the least.

Looks like my Hotbox vape is not going to get anymore use!

Now, I need a box of some type to keep all the parts in for sure.

Oh, and a good portable vape!

Nothing left to do but :):):)

I'm trying to understand how it was decided that 14.4mm, 18.8mm etc. were the correct measurements to use.
Because millimeters are used in the scientific fields and are much more proper?

I think this is the right answer. America's system of measurement is incredibly stupid, the metric system makes much more sense and is just smart.

Tstat:

The vape doesn't actually warm up as fast as the digital readout says it does. I believe the reason for this is because the heating element itself gets that hot and that is where the sensors are, but the temperature of the glass parts/the air that will flow through isn't of temperature. If you put it up to a high temp to make it heat up quicker you have to give it time to also cool down to the right temp. If you put it at 250 to start then put it down to 200, if you start hitting it right after the digital readout says 200 then you'll be burning at a higher temperature than you mean to. At least this is my theory...

For the balloon you should be getting more than just 1 bag and a few hits off the vape for a full bowl pack. If you're smoking medical grade all the time I suggest starting at 190 for the first bag, stir(always stir in between balloons), 200 for the second, 210/220 for the third, and then I usually leave it at that. If you're using the whip i'd say do the same progression, stirring it after you stop getting vapor and when you're turning up the temp.

Glad you're enjoying it man!

This is a great Forced-Air Vaporizer manufactured by a great company, Arizer. Although it has some glass parts (not a fan), it works tremendously and even comes with a cool remote! For people who can't decide between a Forced-Air or Whip-style Vaporizer, this is a great choice because it combines both capabilities.

Why do you not a fan of glass? Just curious really, most people here (including myself) would rather have an all-glass pathway for the vapor vs. plastics/metals(even if they are safe).

I've been reading this thread for the past couple days, and today I purchased an Extreme Q on eBay. Someone on there sells them at very good prices and has nothing but positive reviews. Anyway, spent $190, should be here soon (it's already shipped), and I'm excited. This will be the first vape I've ever owned, and I've only ever used a vape twice before. I have an ounce of Master Kush I've just been sitting on for a month and it's ALL going to be used in this thing :p

I had a couple questions about the Extreme/vapes in general, if you guys could answer them it'd be great!
What's a good temperature to vape at? I've heard 200C mentioned in this thread a lot as a basic temperature, delivering more of a head-high, and the effects get more body-related when you increase the temp.
How often do the parts require cleaning, and what parts do I have to clean? Just the mouthpiece/whip?
I own an illadelph. Is there some way to run the vape through the 18mm joint going into my bong for amazing hits? Would that add anything to my smoking experience?
Finally, probably most importantly, how do you use your vape? Does it matter if I pull harder or slower? What's the most efficient way to pack a bowl (and how much should I put in there?)

Thanks very much, I hope to join you guys in vaping very soon.

Welcome!
200 is a good place to start. It varies slightly Q to Q
I clean my parts twice weekly. Recycle the whip every month.
Great bong, absolutely! Look on Etsy for 18 > 14 adaptor with a whip end.
Just play with it. Squander yourself with Master Kush. ;)

You should read what I've posted right above for Tstat.

Temperature - Look at my above post

Cleaning - You can reclaim the stuff in the whip/elbows using various methods.

Bong - The EQ should have come with 2 elbow's, one is supposed to be used for bags and the other for whip. If you attach the 2nd elbow to the end of the whip(you can either pull off the tubing on the second elbow or use 1 of the mouthpieces as a connector), you can put the elbow directly onto the bong. An alternate method is fill up a bag and keep the bag attached to the elbow and then just put the elbow onto the bong. The EQ's GonG joints are 18.8.

Using the vape - try anything and everything and see what works best for your taste.

Thanks for the replies! Anthony, I had no idea the EQ was even capable of temperatures that high. I'll keep that chart handy....this is going to sound stupid. Those temps you listed are in Celsius, right? Sorry, they just seem really high :p but if heating at 400+ increases the sedative effect I may just try it.

Thanks Pappy. I'll do that. I'm already used to cleaning my illy twice a week, I'll just add this to the load.

and I'll look for that piece on Etsy so I don't have to jerry-rig my vape to my bong :p

That chart is in F not C. 260c is the max on the EQ, forget what that is in F. Personally I don't look at the temperature as temperature, I just look at it as a number guide. Just like on a volcano classic, you just know which numbers you like, same with the EQ.

And as for 'jerry-rig'ing your vape if you have an 18.8 joint bong(which you do) the EQ is already ready to be used through it. The joints on the EQ are 18.8, you don't need to spend any extra money to attach it to your illy. I've done it before with friends bongs/bub's that are 18.8. I have a 14.4 myself and I bought an adapter for it off etsy because I had to.

Ha, thanks for the information. I was on my way to roasting my weed. I'll just get comfortable with the temperature scale as I progress, I guess.
I see the size for my bong listed most places as 18, so hopefully it's actually 18.8 and works with the EQ. Thanks for the help, I feel like a little kid on Christmas. Can't wait for this to arrive.

You new guys would really get a lot out of reading all the techniques and tips posted in this thread like I did. It seems long but it's worth it. Even glass on glass (gong) tips for water filtration are explained in the latter parts. You gotta wait for the EQ to arrive anyway right? Read this thread and the etsy glass thread while you're at it. The EQ is just the beginning of what you're about to experience.

Shiz is right, you should read through this thread. Don't worry, 18, 18.8, 19 -- all nomenclature! Your bong will work if you get a 14/18 adapter with a whip end.

I'm not because I'm a klutz and glass will be broken. So far I've taken out two cyclone bowls (one was a tuff bowl no less), an elbow, and a heater cover. (This was on an Extreme not a Q.) The replacement parts aren't that expensive but with somebody like me they will mount up, and of course nobody wants to have a session terminated because you broke some glass.

@Anyone interested in temperature ranges: tdavie put together a great table to help with this, which I took the liberty of adding to Vaporpedia. See:

I'd still like to see a thread dedicated to EQ accessories, with links, prices, testimonials. For example, I am looking for a 14mm to 18mm adapter for my 14mm Gear bong. I'm on the East Coast of US, btw.

So, I wrote my initial impressions a few posts up, but I wanted to share some observations this morning.

Last night I loaded the cyclone with some very purple, nighttime medicine. (Theo mentioned I should get more out of the cyclone than we got earlier. I just didn't know, so I pitched it after 2 bags, and a few wand hits.) Anyway, I took one bag, then gave another to my friend. We both ended up getting another bag from the same bowl, and it was good to the last bag. There was some deterioration in density and flavor, of course. But it still worked wonders. I slept great, even though I have been sick all week from the flu. I didn't take any medicine, or drink any alcohol. It was sleepy time by 10, right after the second bag.

This morning I got up and researched portable vapes- yea I guess I am hooked. I also tried the elbow pack for the first time this morning with some Widow. Got a bunch of hits from a tiny amount. I see why you guys like that method.

So, by 8 AM I was feeling great (for the first time in a week) and I ordered the Magic Flight Launch Box. It came with extra batteries and a pretty nice grinder, along with all the other stuff) Was $100 and is coming priority from Florida. I hope to get it by Saturday, when we will be staying in a hotel overnight.

So there you have it. I owned my Hotbox for a couple of years and liked it a lot. I always went back to the bong, however. I love my Gear bong, so now I need to use it conjunction with my EQ. The EQ is so much fun, that I never want to combust again. Hence the MFLB purchase, hehe. Told the wife I was not buying anything else to do with vaping. She asked "whatever happened to smoking joint?" LOL. She doesn't use medicine :) So I am not buying anything else... until I find that adaptor piece for the Gear. Or different cyclone replacements. Or a different whip... oh man...:peace:

I'm even more impressed with the EQ than the day I got it and I'm about 2 months in. Took me a while but the other day I ordered a MFLB that should be here any day now. If it's not what I'm expecting I should be able to sell it easily and get one of those "essential vaaapp's" that connect to waterpipes right out of the box.
For $50-60 shipped I'll probably get one sooner or later either way.

Hi Everyone,

I have emailed Arizer several times regarding a problem with the heating element on my Extreme vaporizer, but am not getting any replies back. I have now just sent them my forth email to them asking why they are ignoring my emails. I may be wrong, but I could have sworn I read on a thread somewhere on the net that Arizer's customer service was supposed to be top notch so was a bit surprised that my experience with them has proven to be the exact opposite. Has anyone else had any similar problems?

I've had to communicate with Arizer on a couple of occasions and have always gotten timely responses. How long between emails? Are you sure you're using the right email address? I used service@arizer.com and Kevin has always been right on it. Further, the first time I had a warranty issue, and I not only got prompt email responses but also a phone call to make sure I was getting taken care of.

I don't know about this thread, but the original two Arizer threads (for the Extreme) had several posts praising the prompt service from Arizer.

Exactly. Same reason. I agree that an all-glass pathway is much better and healthier than plastics/metals, but I always seem to break my glass pieces.

I went to the craft store and bought a wooden, unfinished box on sale for $5. I also bought a sheet of flat foam about 3 inches think. I am going to cut the foam to fit the box and carve out sections for the glass pieces. I don't have a drawer where my EQ is going to sit :)

I'm obsessed!!

Tstat, I have the perfect box for these accessories, and you just gave me the motivation to hit up some stores and try to find a piece of foam that will fit my box...I'd like a nice vape accessory box.
I'm reading through this whole thread now on the advice of those above, and gaining some insight into the EQ. My unit is on its way to me now...

I first contacted them about 3 months ago using the contact form on their website, then a couple of weeks ago I tried a second time, but again no reply. I then found their sales@arizer.com email on another page of their website so tried emailing that directly to no avail. I tried again using the contact form about 5 days later and have just emailed again a couple of hours ago using the contact form. I couldn't see the service@arizer.com email anywhere on their website. Maybe that is on the instruction manual but I don't know what I have done with it as it was bought over a year ago (the model I have is the one before the Q). I have just had a few occasional problems with the heating element either not heating up properly or overheating and on one occasion actually combusting the weed.
