The 2016 Presidential Candidates Thread

CuckFumbustion

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
The 'heart' of the GOP has become a much larger debate topic now with Boehner leaving as speaker. There is a lot of mention of the splits within the party and the lack of co-operation between both parties plus the lack of inertia during his office. And this article about his war chest. But Rubio and Rand are the only two with different ideas to bring to the GOP.

Both parties need to reboot. IMHO, there is too much change going on the ground and candidates are already re-positioning on issues they said two weeks earlier. Social media is catching up and fact checking is having more say in the matter. Which is making the kiddies candidates running for office look more they are on the tail end of the information curve. Look how they held Dr. Ben Carson to the facts of the big bang theory. It is at least harder to tell the smaller lies anyway.

I see what you did there...:ninja:
:haw: Uhh... Phrasing?

I don't know if I'm going to be "feeling the Bern" or if "Im ridin with Biden." Time will tell. I wonder if Biden is waiting to throw his hat in the ring is dependent on how Hillary does at the hearings about Benghazi.

I'm surprised at the goofy things that's coming out of Ben Carson's mouth. We expect Donald Trump to say bat shit stuff.

For sure if Trump gets into office he will really piss off a lot of countries. It will make America less safe.

EDIT
Maybe Biden is waiting for after the first debate, to see how Hillary does. Biden needs to make his decision soon.

The Republican Party isn't intuned with main stream Americans. They aren't untuned with their own party it looks like either. Look at the speaker of the house debacle. Nobody wants the position.

Why should the Democrats have just 2 people running. They need to have a few more people to get conversation going amongst them IMO and for the public to hear a variety of proposals. Too boring with just two candidates.

This is true, and perhaps biden is the right one to add more perspective to the debates. Folksy but really the ultimate insider: he has been in the executive branch for two terms, and decades more in the senate. I just wonder how different his positions will be than hillary's, as they are both establishment democrats. When I was watching mahar they found the big difference with sanders: "he really will throw the banksters in jail."

Of the establishment republicans, Kasich seems to have minuscule support and Bush appears to be fizzling out a la Fred Thompson. That leaves Rubio, who isn't quite ready for prime time. It's now possible that the republicans will nominate some dark horse candidate like Cruz or Trump. I can't see any of the repubs winning against Clinton.

As time goes on I find myself liking Clinton more. She has a lived-in face; she didn't go the botox or surgery route. I am comfortable with that. I'm in my sixties and I do not require that our president be a beauty queen. I do require that the person be knowledgeable, competent, diligent, ethical, responsive to real world evidence, respectful of science, electable, etc. OK, you can quibble over individual positions, but if the above are your criteria, Clinton is the best candidate out there this time round.

Yeah I prefer many of Bernie's policy positions. My concern about Bernie is the presidency is all about leading a coalition in Congress. Twisting arms, bargaining, getting things done. Bernie has not shown a lot of aptitude for that as far as I know. So while he has positions I agree with, he may not be a good match for this particular job. There is also the electability question: whether he can find a big enough constituency in the general.

There is a lot to like about Bernie. But America doesn't elect an avowed Socialist for President. Not THIS America, anyway. Most people today don't know what it is, or that Medicare and Social Security are socialistic programs. And the word frightens people because they associate it with Communism and Naziism. His positions on guns doesn't help him much either, with the dems at least.

So if Bernie can't get elected there is really only one other choice. Certainly no one in the republican field. Biden, as much as I love him, isn't electable. And there are so few differences between where he and Hillary stand that they would be tripping over each other and making personalities points of opposition. That doesn't help.

Nearly every position Hillary has staked out is where I stand. I will have little problem voting for her. I think she is in the best position to help this country move forward. And I can't remember another candidate who had better qualifications for the job.

Just something I thought of... The last time a Republican was in the White House they put Tommy Chong in jail. Just to set a fucking example and take a couple of headlines off of Iraq.

Its never over till the fat lady picks up her check on her way out the door. This jockeying inside the parties are just the narratives playing themselves out as they usually do. I suspect when the smoke clears and the dust settles we will get another operative in the big chair who will do as expected.

but something about it still seems disingenuous to me.
Otherwise known as equivocating, flip-flopping, going whichever way the wind blows, adjusting to match the polls, political expediency, and pandering ...to name a few. Hillary is a ferocious animal with horns of the most political kind, IMO.

Well, somehow I don't think a gerbil or bunny is likely to become President, but maybe I am naive...
I just think she's fiendishly bizarre, power hungry, and untrustworthy. Yes, those descriptives could very well define our wholesale concept of "politician" which most most folks nowadays will resolve to accept as status quo and as deserving of our confidence as any other, but when it feels this blatant and obvious to my gut, I wretch and cast my vote elsewhere.

Problem is where else to cast your vote. If your choices are Clinton and Cruz, or Clinton and Bush, or Clinton and Rubio, what choice do you have? I'm not saying Clinton is the ideal candidate. I'm saying Clinton is the best choice we will have.

If you find a way to put Bubba up there I will vote for him again, but there are rules against that...

The Republicans GOP use religion to scare stupid poor into into voting for changes that make them even poorer. Fucking lie about everything.

Biden - Call the Wambulance he is too upset to be a president... You need to care more about the people of this country than your losses to be my president

Hillary - She is not talking about real problems facing the American people and I'm not seeing anything new from the Democrats... And the poor stupid people would elect the Devil Trump before they allow her to be president after all the Bengazi lies

Bernie Sanders 2016

Bubba would've been a 5 or 6 term pres if the rules allowed, I'll give you that, as could've Reagan, IMO. I think it's time we nominated some advanced benevolent extra-terrestrial entity whose roots aren't tainted by our political rot and poisonous social-media that pours into every grass-roots garden sprinkler system and glass of drinking water - from cradle to grave, generation after generation.

Biden sponsored the rave act. He will never get my vote. Hilary already has no chance of getting my vote. Bernie is the only person I'd vote for, so if he doesn't win the primary I won't be voting.

I'd vote for hillary or biden before any of the rethuglicans, but with huge reservations :(

Hillary, Bernie, and the Banks

Wall Street bankers are still an enormous threat to millions of Americans and the only way to resolve this is “with reforms so big, bold, and public they can’t be watered down.”
Published: October 11, 2015 | Authors: Robert Reich | NationofChange | Op-Ed

Giant Wall Street banks continue to threaten the wellbeing of millions of Americans, but what to do?

Bernie Sanders says break them up and resurrect the Glass-Steagall Act that once separated investment from commercial banking.

Hillary Clinton says charge them a bit more and oversee them more carefully.

Most Republicans say don’t worry...

Hilary voted for Iraq. A vote for Hilary is the same as a vote for Trump or Jeb Bush. I'd actually say it's worse as I see that vote as direct involvement in war crimes. She voted for an illegal war, she should never be able to hold office. Some people call for W. Bush and Cheney to be arrested for war crimes. I'd be happier to see the people who voted for Iraq to never be allowed any public office again.
