The lubricant is presumably used to prevent resin from accumulating and/or hardening in the grooves of the stainless steel stem in the mouthpiece. While this may work, I personally prefer to not have anything unnecessarily altering the taste or quality of my vapor and would prefer to not deal with the mess of having lubricant in my Pax.

Instead, try thoroughly scrubbing the stainless steel stem with ISO and steel wool.

I don't think the metal tube is supposed to be removed from the mouthpiece for cleaning, just supposed to soak the entire MP as one, unless you are trying to make a mod for using tubing to run through a bubbler like I see some folks doing.

For general cleaning, I don't think the MP should be fully taken apart, then you won't lose the little disk. Just toss the eniter MP in a jar of ISO or run hot water through it for a few mins...

I don't take it apart to clean. I soak it in ISO, then scrub the stainless steel stem with steel wool and use a pipe cleaner and swab on the rest of the mouthpiece.

I like your method, but I think she was talking to this guy:

I have to admit I tried to take apart my MP but I was pulling so hard it felt like it could break... how hard was it to take the stem out of your MP?

    Merry Vapemas to everyone!
I wanted to mention that I got an inexpensive ultrasonic jewelry cleaner today - of course the first thing I put in it were my Pax screens, mouthpiece, and 91% ISO. It worked like a charm on everything. It's a fast & easy way to clean your Pax parts, for sure, and probably a lot of other vape parts.

I am extremely happy with the Pax otherwise, I feel really stupid after this happened, I never thought that this would fuse shut for lack of a washer, figured worse case id pop it off and pop the washer back on. Customer service seems amazing from what everyone says. We shall see tomorrow

another tidbit i forgot to share, covering glass on glass conversions, A lot of you have somthing sitting in your drawer and probably dont realize it! I used the rubber pump from a stainless turkey baster, cut it down to about an inch and a half long, fits perfectly over the mouth piece and the glass joint. Looks like it was made for it.

If you don't want to open it to fix it, you might be able to release the MP with a paperclip or some kind of poking tool. The catch is behind the tube when the light is facing you. Just stick something down alongside the stuck MP stem and try to pry the catch off of the edge on the MP stem while pulling the stem out with pliers or big tweezers.

A quick look at your Pax with the mouthpiece removed will show you why your proposed solution is impossible. As I posted a while back, the only way to release the mouthpiece in this sort of situation is to open the Pax. You cannot release that catch any other way. That should be obvious from this picture alone:

I would like to know what the difference is between the old MP and the new. Picture here
    http://vaporpedia.com/wiki/File:Mouthpiece_new_on_left.jpg

I notice the difference in the sliding rings, I think I have the new version, but did the old version slide also?
Is it possible that the old MP had issues with it not wanting to slid up and sticking, so they did something to make it move better, maybe less tolerence, and now they have a temp sensor issue?
Does anyone with the old MP have the temp issue and a sticking issue at the same time?

If its just a resin issue, then I guess evey single PAX user would have the temp light issue? is that right.

I'm not sure what you mean, he already told us he removed the black plastic top from his MP stem. If it's just the stem in there then pushing something down where the ring should be will force the catch to move sideways like the ring does every time you click it open. See how it's ramped/angled in your picture?

My understanding was that he removed the stem from the mouthpiece, lost the washer, replaced the stem, and inserted the mouthpiece thinking that the washer was not important. If it's just the stem then you're right, you can push a paperclip down there to release it.

Black ABV = overcooking. Ash = combustion.

Vaporstore (currently not selling the Pax) reported the mouthpiece not releasing properly as the biggest complaint, and it doesn't appear to be a 'needs cleaning' issue.

There are actually two stuck mouthpiece issues and one of them is caused by accumulated resin. This is why some people succeeded in unsticking their MPs by warming up the Pax. You can often avoid this problem because the MP will usually show signs of sticking before it actually gets stuck.

The other version of the problem has to do with the catch release mechanism. The sliding washer is a key part of this (just ask Mr.Krinkle) and that's why the second generation MP has a much different washer, as you can see in this picture by TheAngryGiraffe:

The new design is on the left, and you can see that they added a wide groove in the sliding washer. In the old design (right) if the catch ever somehow got above the washer then you were screwed. That can't happen with the deep groove in the new design.

I can take the black cap off no problem, but I tried poking a few different tools down the stem with no luck. Tried both ends. Still no response from the support so I shall tinker some more

Mine was the old design, I would have thought about it more had it had that deep groove, mine just looked like a washer, didnt seem important.

Are there PAX users on here that have had this unit more than a week or two and never had the Temp light issue?

You can see the catch inside the red oval in this picture:

[IMG]You have to slide something down the outside of the stem to force this back. I have successfully released this catch using a straightened paper clip, but there was no MP stem in place when I did it. It looks to me like a clearance problem. You need something really thin, a lot thinner than a paper clip.

Edit: Argh, moot point now I guess.
