@little maggie check with alan, www.toasty-top.com, I believe he sells the whip.
@sk8man121 try half a stem, that is load enough herb so there is about 3/8" of empty stem above the herb. This moves the herb away from the heater some. I generally have trouble getting that golden brown abv if I load too much.
I should have known but I thought there might be another alan somewhere. I think one of you portable creators needs to get together with Alan to make a specially designed portable.

Loaded .065 gram tamped with only bottom screen. Took six draws rotating stem 60 degrees after each and completing the full revolution in 1-2 hours. Used collar and stirred material could still see some green. Took 6 additional draws over 1-2 hours. Dumped ABV consistently dark brown. Hit the touch until glow just starting and drew hard for 4-6 seconds; feathering only when vapor gets too hot. Battery used previously for 2-3 stems so not 100%.

This MVT is so different from the Crafty but each will serve at times.

I had a duh moment last night and wanted to share, even though it doesn't make me look that smart
After a long day I settled in for a little vape action with my Touch. The screen was clogged but I was too lazy to clean it. Big mistake, the reduced air flow really screwed it up. It was so bad that in order to get any vapor I had to really push it and since the air flow was scanty it didn't cool the coil and yep combustion city. I think this happened before but I didn't realize it was an air flow problem.
Just wanted to but this out there, if you are having combustion/poor vaping with the Touch make sure the screen is clean and nothing is obstructing the air flow.

I've noticed that mine tends to clog up fairly quickly - like maybe after three or four stems? I guess the combination of fine mesh + small surface area will do that.

This is one of the reasons I bought so many screens (of course right before you improved them).

I keep a vial (empty RX bottle works) that I put clogged or semi clogged screens into and then once a week or two I will clean them by adding some PBW and boiling water. Screens come out spotless. Rinse in H2O and good to go.

The tubes PV sells for transporting glass stems (Solo) work great and the screw on top seals completely.

Crussell27

Fellow vapor brother
What makes it so indestructable? What is the corrugated cover made of?

TIA

FF
It's literally all silicone with a yarn cover. And it can handle very high temperatures. I pop a basket screen in and then space the two screens apart and then you can easily shake the load and toast it evenly. Love it. No flavor change. And it pairs right away with any 14mm water piece.

Cheers

@sickmanfraud what is PBW? I use ISO in a shot glass and then rinse with warm water.

BTW I broke my first stem yesterday and wasn't even wearing lipstick. I then used the long Amber screen for my last load before bedtime. Bottom screen only! reminds me of Red October line "One ping only".

PBW is short for Professional Brewer Wash. PBW cleans glass, vape parts and tools.

PBW is available at brewery supply stores or even at Amazon. PBW works best with hot to boiling water.

There was/is a PBW thread here at FC.

MODS SORRY FOR BACK TO BACK POSTS, BUT THESE POSTS ARE ABOUT 12 HOURS APART

After I had used the 14mm - 14mm GONG with the screens moving around I tried a basket screen at the end of the GONG.

COMBUSTION CITY. Everything needs a PBW wash to remove the nastiness.

It is hard to get feedback when using a water tool. I would suggest using the GONG as a stem and when you have the technique down for the GONG without water then add your water tool, but by then you would have an idea of how long on and off the button to get vapor and avoid combustion.

Moral of the story, if using a basket screen keep off the heat. The load is much closer to the heater in a basket screen.

The close screen is part of the problem, but not hard to overcome. What I think helps most is being able to see the can of your bubbler to monitor vapor. A decent sidecar rig or the FC-UFO (with silicone tube from bubb to mouth) both allow for easy vapor viewing. Once you get a feel for it, can go to anything else with great success!

I haven't used bubblers much with any other vaporizer so my experience with the Touch and water is limited. But the few times I've tried I didn't have great success. It has gotten better with practice. I am working on a small water attachment for the Touch, in the second design now. Just using silicone tubing and a test tube with some custom rubber stoppers for the stems. Since it only holds a couple ml of water it has limits but early tests showed a definite cooling. I was able to get the water rig working nicely and avoided combustion. I'll post pics in the coming weeks.

Another plug for PBW. I combusted. I am about as anti smoking (cigs) as possible so I had never combusted anything.

I needed to PBW the MVT screen, the basket screen, the 14mm Gong and my F-bomb.

Everything went into the PBW smelling Nasty and came out squeegee clean.

Check out the DDAve kit I referenced above. Just a little water, but portable and worthwhile.

I'm supposed to be cleaning up the shop but who wants to do that! So here is some vape porn for you. Well since they are just the frames and not vapes yet I guess it is wood porn. Oh that could be not the right term either:rofl:
The always amazing snake wood

Then we have kings wood

purple heart

and bocote
mYfRc4n.jpg

I only have 2 bocote frames. I cut up a larger piece and picked the greatest grain I could find.
Important to note that the frame wood is pretty rough yet. It is the correct size but has not been finished. I wanted to do videos to see if the 3D nature of the wood shows up, it is hard to capture in still pics. I think it shows up nicely in the video.
The other important point is that the wood used for these trimmed frames was hand picked from all the available wood. They are among the finest quilted maple pieces I have seen.
here are some uncut videos
bocote
snake wood
kings wood
purple heart

on the right in each pic are the new cup screens. They are slightly shorter but the main thing is they are smooth around the edges. The new screens are 316 SS the old ones were 304 SS, that in my opinion is a trivial difference. I really do need to clean the shop now

Arg, the bocote and purpleheart are amazing. Must resist ordering a second one...

I have a couple units left from the last batch and once again people are dragging their feet. Money issues, whatever I get it but please let me know asap so I can move on. If someone doesn't respond to their call any future request will be viewed with some reservation. Sure I'll sell one to any adult but no favors for these slackers. Those who respond and decline are viewed with respect.

My 3 lg hg2 3000 mAh 20a flat tops just came today from imr. I noticed on the red warning card and battery themselves it says don't use with "e cigarettes"...Are we just ignoring that or did I get the wrong ones?

I brought this up in another thread. Learn how to take care of your batteries don't do crazy discharges and it's just to cover their asses. They sell these batteries with mods so just be careful and know there is always a danger using li ion batteries. Most of issues are user error

Yeah.... recently came up in another thread. General consensus is that they use this disclaimer to relieve themselves from any possible litigation from boneheads that don't respect these batteries as they should. Without these batts, the MVT and many other vapes (and e-cigs) are useless. They are definitely the right ones, though.

DAMN YOU, good Sir! That's not from me so much as my wallet. Will be ordering shortly. And, must admit I'm kind of pissed I bought that hat pin from a thrift store for too much money ($4, but still it's a damned pin with a head!) that has become my MVT poker/tamper.

ALSO, wanted to thank you for the new screens you sent. Was above and beyond on your part, and really appreciate them!! They do go nicely into the stems "backwards" as I like to use them these days.

While I'm here, I need to confess that MVT has become my favorite out and about vape. I'm using it pretty much daily and have even mastered it enough to use "lightly" in places where no smoking at all is allowed. Was at a touristy place over the weekend that involved a lot of walking around outside. There were people EVERYWHERE on a beautiful day. I was able to duck off here and there and get varying degrees of vapor to keep my buzz going for hours. Very nice, and something I wouldn't have been comfortable with on my VCs because they can be hard to gauge how "stinky" your exhale may be. With no smokers around for cover, the MVT was definitely the vape for the day. Luckily it was sunny enough for sunglasses so few were able to catch the slits that used to be my eyes, because I was totally ripped.

I still haven't put that thumb notch in the side, but will soon. Not as crucial as I've adjusted my hand position. I tend to keep my thumb on the back side now (small side opposite button). All good, but would still rather wrap it around a little for easier use and to cover that side of the air vent when I want to.

Had a bit of a weird experience that took a minute to figure out. Learned something that could be useful to others. My girlfriend is on a T-break which works out well for me. Instead of figuring out who drives and only gets a couple hits, and who gets to get stoned, she's been driving and I get to vape to my heart's content while we roll. I had my window open a few inches and MVT just wasn't producing. WTF??? fresh battery, fresh load, no joy - or at least not much. Finally occurred to me that the MVT was right in the airstream of open window at highway speed. Covered the hole on that side with my fingers and all was well again!! I had noticed how wind could have an effect on a windy day outside, but took a few to figure it out in the car in my buzzed state. Something to keep in mind whenever more than a breeze is in the air.

I've been counting damned near every time I use it to try to post notes here for others. It still varies quite a bit depending on how deep I am into a load, wind (as above), strain, how buzzed I'm trying to get and other factors. But, here is where I am in still air on average...

Fresh load, fresh battery - hold button for about 6/7 seconds, start to draw slowly while holding button for another 4 - 7 seconds, release button for 2 seconds, hold for one, repeat as necessary through whole hit - sometimes total of 10 seconds - sometimes 20 seconds and upward. Also often feather one side of air opening. On second hit I start with button hold of 4/5 seconds as things are warmed up, and go with the 1 second on, 2 seconds off through the hit. It is still a "feel" thing for me, though. Basically, as soon as vapor starts to go from warm towards hot on my tongue, I let off button for 2 seconds or so. When you're already there and heater is kicking well, it doesn't take more than a second - maybe 2 - to keep it going. Been doing pretty well and no dark spots with completely spent loads. I do give a 1/4 twist or so on glass after every hit (except those few times when I forget). I also usually dump and stir for a last hit or two when the load stops giving me vapor. Usually get another heat or two after, that are not nearly as good as the first few of the load. If out and being sneaky, I don't bother with the dump & stir. Just blow out the spent and suck up a new load when I can.

Why has this become my favorite portable? Heater control!!! It is so responsive that as my technique improves I can go from wisps to clouds at will without hardly thinking about it. And, through a little portable bubbler (DDave vapor cooler) hooked up with a 14mm male-male with basket screen in it, I can get HUGE tasty clouds while tooling down the highway in the passenger seat. So much that I was asked to open my window a little more at 70 mph. Not that the smell or anything other than the ability to see well in the car was a problem. Yeah... I mean HUGE fucking clouds with no combustion at all from a device in my pocket. Makes flotntoke a very happy fucking boy!!

EDIT: Purpleheart tool & collar, and a damned green stem ordered!! Like I REALLY needed either. Resistance is futile! :borg:

My MVT is still my daily driver. I love being to take a quick rip when I want without waiting, or my herb drying out cos I'm not hitting it. It's just so There when I want It BAM ! :science: and it always delivers great vapor effortlessly. The love affair continues...

Here are some observations I wanted to share with you guys on the Touch's performance .

In the Uk we get mostly Home grown indica ' Skunk' which is what the majority are smoking/vaping.
This is usually fresh and green. Personally I am more of a sativa fan and tend to stick with the Thai's or imported bush from the caribbean or elsewhere, which is usually greeny brown to brown and is usually compressed as it has had to travel incognito to get here.

Hence my vaping experience is a little different to most of yours. My herb goes from brown to light brown(sometimes) then darker , ultimately ending up the same as everyone else's after full extraction.

So when I hear all you guys talking about going from green to brown or darker . I decided to get a little fresh bud just to see how my Touch performs compared to yours. Also just to have the experience. Don;t get me wrong I get fresh bud anytime, I just prefer sativa's and not many people grow those over here.

As the fresh buds are looser it looked like you'd get more for your buck when micro-dosing., especially from the pictures of ABV people posted. However I found that compared to the pressed herb, the vapor production didn't last as long. I got great vapor production and flavour that tasted amazing, it just didn't last as long as what I'm used to.

I think the resin hardens under compression , and everything is more dense. Once it's ground up quite fine ( in my black tie grinder) I think it's almost like a mix between solid and dry herb. so you kinda have to heat it harder but it gives off more vapor for longer than fresh bud. The vapor is also denser I think. Still get good flavour though it doesn't beat fresh bud. You are also able to hit it harder before it potentially combusts .

I think I actually prefer the compressed bud to fresh in the MVT or Mi, but I will occasionally buy some fresh bud and use it sparingly every now and then. Just for the taste and the effects, cos my tolerance is pretty high. Plus it's nice to be F_cked Up sometimes.

Needless to say my MVT performs with flying colours whatever the draw !
