Discontinued MistVape Touch

Shit Snacks

Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
Don't want to veer off topic, but I would advise that the stem be capped or stored without a screen.

I tried one of those 2 battery case and put in an 18650 (tiny tear) and a stem for my Arizer Air with a screen, but no medicine or stem cap. The screen fell out of the stem and touched the battery. The Battery arced and I am lucky I realized it almost immediately. I knocked the pieces apart.

If that would have happened in someone's purse the result could be waaaay bad.

Unlike the two battery clamshell cases, this magnetic four batt case seems to have each tube fully isolated from the one next to it, so no issue here probably. Also the Mist basket screens sit very snug in the stem, like Milaana, so even in a two battery clamshell case I don't think you would ever have this issue like you did with a smaller Arizer stem (and presumably a non snug fitting screen, never used screens in mine when had Arizers myself) but that's pretty interesting to be aware of for sure :2c::peace:

It arrived! I sampled it, I had an LG HE2, and that does indeed work. It wasn't fully charged, and I'll be charging when I get home from work tonight for more testing :) didn't want to leave it on there for 4+ hours when not around.

... I do really like the wood, whatever it is, it has some awesome iridescent (shimmer) qualities and mine has some cool spots on it, honestly can't praise that aspect enough as most portable wood vapes, IMO, have very plain woods, ie walnut, cherry, maple. Even if this is one of those, it has a lot of luster and the wood looks better IMO to a lot of wooden vapes out. Really great build quality and craftsmanship.

Also, reading back, @Shit Snacks , I used mine with right hand and thumb  I even hit it horizontally and the screw didn't hit my nose or nothin!

....This thing really reminded me a lot of my Underdog........good thing! Almost nicer in a sense as I always cash my stems in my dog in about 3 hits, this really let me savor some taste. Still gonna try to cash quick later :p I can't wait to test it out further tonight. I'll take some videos/photos etc as well. But my first impressions are really really happy, and totally worth the $

Glad you're enjoying man as I knew you would! Nice you got in so early, my updated unit should be arriving today or tomorrow probably too.

So you will notice you can cash quicker with a freshly charged battery vs a weak one, but also yeah preheat and draw can help you finish a small bowl fast just like a log can.

The wood is quilted maple I believe, as you can see on his photos some of them are really interesting! My old Mist had it more so than my Touch beta, we'll see about the new one... (Yes coil should be angled as well)

Also be careful with other stems, the tricky part is getting the basket to stay in the 14mm male joint without sliding, the Mist stems have a custom ledge, so I don't know if another will work at all really.

Finally re ergonomics, my hands aren't huge but they are flexible, I can also just barely wrap around to reach button with my thumb in right hand, but I prefer having my index finger wrapped around the lower side, around the glass stem instead of the battery side. Its more comfortable and I like extra security for the glass, and that's how it could be with the button on the opposite side. It's not a big deal at all though ;)

The heater side of the base cover is a weak point that screw doesn't bite as good as the other two. Working on improving that. If there is any issue I'll fix it.
The earlier stems were a little long and didn't seat fully. All stems are now checked for full seating. Any stock 14/23 stems could be a problem as they might knock the screen out of place. Stock 14/20 stems may be ok.
The coil is tilted on purpose, it evens out the heating some. Still improving the coil placement but it is working nicely for me.
The wood is quilted maple, crazy beautiful stuff.
This hasn't come up yet but it will, some of frames are crazy beautiful, some are just beautiful. The amount of figure in the wood is totally out of my control. I buy the best grade I can get and each unit is unique. When I ship I just pack them up and then send them out. I don't know who got which one. Please no complaints about my unit doesn't have that much grain pattern. (the grain pattern is called "figure" btw)
Glad you are enjoying the Touch

Got my wood stem from @Alan
UxJHJwq.jpg

Holds .2 g, I nursed one stem all night long. Check with @Alan to get yours.

@Fat Freddy the glass comes out. The herb is a bit further from the heater so you can get some awesome flavor hits. When i pushed it to higher temps it seemed a bit harsher but not a lot. I think it is a learning curve. Seems you can get nice smooth hits if you don't push the temp. I tend to go hot. The stem is tapered on the end that goes in the vape, i'll post a pic later.

No issue at all :)

Here is both dry hits, and water hits. This was stem 1 and 2 on the fresh charged battery. This thing is really efficient and gets me pretty wrecked. I got 7 stems out of the charge, and that was great, as each stem gave me more oomph than say the Firewood. My charger is wonky and I have to read the level through an old mod I have, so it may have had a bit more juice able to be pumped in or in the tank, was still hitting pretty fine, can't wait for the Nitecore though to know for sure! I was able to do some low temp and stretch the stems out too. The stem also fits snugly into a 14mm reducer I have without any silicon, actually the silicon made it too thick. It doesn't fit as snugly in my handcrafted joint which is why I'm using the adapter in the video.

Really really great product overrall! Always see people looking for on demand convection and this, does exactly that :D

I also feel you'd have to really try to combust. The inhale is pretty free flowing. I just inhale normally and don't stress preheat or anything and I can get a lot of hits out of a stem that are tasty. And I draw pretty slow to fully roast it. I keep the button hit most of the time, I mostly just regulate the inhale speed.

Gonna have to get me a stem like that ^ maybe another glass too :)

Cheers all!

Edit: @pakalolo , @momofthegoons , @Stu I think I'd consider this released?

Great video thanks much. You can use a dab of elmers glue to secure the base plate. If you just use a little applied with a toothpick it will hold it in and if it had to be removed a little dab can be pried off.
Apply to the exposed edge and then tape it down or hold it for the glue to dry. Or just ignore it. Always hate when a little thing like that comes up.

When the glass tube is in the box it doesn't quite fit. Looking at getting some shorter glass tubes, there would still be some glass as a mouthpiece but then it would fit the case.

Alan can probably make you a shorter glass stem if you like.

I'm just looking at shortening up by about 1/4", just enough to fit it in a case. Think I found a source for the glass tubes. Stay tuned.
@rozroz I don't think you should try those, I have measured the amp draw and when the Touch is at room temp and you fire it up for the first time it draws 7 amps then once it is warmed a bit it draws 4 amps to heat up. so you will be hitting the battery hard and I'm not sure if it could cause the battery to explode or something, remember this is a not a regulated device.
@KeroZen thoughts on using the weaker battery?

Anyone have these Samsung 26J batteries?
I'll have to try using them until ill get the HG2s.
The problem is that although they are 2600mAh, they are only 5.2A :(
Hope ill be able to get the Touch functioning...

It may work? But may take awhile? Unless 20a discharge continuous is required somehow. Since it's unregulated, I would think you could get it working eventually? 20a continous will just heat it up faster than 5.2 continuous? I could be totally off base but that's my :2c:
(did not see ^ saying don't try, I would take his advice over mine)

That second site has decent info and using the first I could find out that the 26j is the next iteration of the 26h , so like I said it's not the correct battery specs for the MVT but still indeed may heat the device? I wish you luck and hope it does work!

yea thanks. got that info too,
and as long as it doesn't do any harm, i might as well try to heat it up for what it's worth.
don't have any knowledge or clue to what will be sufficient.

Yea, thats why im making sure.
Dont need no trouble.
Although spending the weekend not being able to test it will be quite a bummer ;)

Guide to Battery Specification Terms:
Batteries can generally be broken down by two major characteristics or specifications: capacity(mah rating) and amps (current handling). When choosing which battery to buy you must pick which characteristic is your priority for the application that you will use it. You can't have both the highest mah and highest amps in one battery. This is due to the limits of current battery chemistry & technology. Safety should always be your number one priority.
Capacity or mAh Rating - an approximation for how long a battery charge should last from 100% charge to when the battery will cut off. Roughly, 100 mAh = 1 hour usage with low drain applications like a flashlight.

The "best battery" is not always the one with the largest mAh rating. In most vaping applications a higher amp rating (CDR or continuous discharge rate) determines the better battery.

Amp Rating - or "continuous discharge rate" (CDR), is the maximum electrical current at which the battery can be discharged continuously before the battery will fail. This specification is set by the manufacturer, and is a standard measurement in the industry. The "pulse or burst discharge rate" is not a standard measurement and varies from one manufacturer/vendor to another making comparisons from one company to another company impossible, and therefore should never be relied upon.

Basic rule of thumb at the moment, to get CDR amps you have to sacrifice Mah and run time, to get Mah and run time you have to sacrifice amps and CDR. You won't find a battery which has both the highest amp rating and highest mAh capacity; that's the way it works with batteries.

:danger: Beware of dubious marketing claims of over-rated battery amp ratings and mAh ratings by some disreputable vendors and manufacturers. These companies attempt to confuse consumers with "max amp" specs. Efest, IMREN, and the "---- Fire" brands are the worst perpetrators of this practice. Don't fall victim to their advertising scams.
Look for the continuous discharge rate (CDR). Burst or pulse ratings are just that, they can do a high amperage for 2-5 seconds, but more than that you begin to damage the cells. You want to choose batteries by their continuous rate, never for their burst. This is the danger of sub-ohming and not knowing the ins and outs of your batteries.

Hell no!

You will only damage your cell at best. No need to repeat what could happen (cf. personal injuries, 3rd degree chemical fire burns, and property/house damage) when you miss the best case...

That being said most modern cells are tested to support direct shorts while dying more or less gracefully. But even a simple venting incident with no real fire involved can be quite traumatizing... It's squirting sizzling hot chemicals and polymers everywhere...

Without going there, when you simply exceed a given cell C rating (i.e. max discharge rate), three things happen: 1) it will sag a lot, somehow preventing more damage 2) it will get hot 3) it creates internal damages inside the cell substrate (quite complex subject) which in turns will increase the internal resistance (IR)

Raising the IR will in turn decrease the C rating. Meaning more sag and more heat. When the cell gets over 120°C really bad things start to happen, until it vents and in the worst case explodes.

Now all chemistries are not equal, and it gets really beyond the scope of this forum post.

In practice it would probably work with the Touch for a while. One might argue that we are doing pulsed discharges and not really continuous ones (although 10sec is already a long pulse!) If you watch the cell closely and it's not getting suspiciously hot, then it should work, albeit very anemic... But in all cases it's not good for the cell and a risk I wouldn't take when you can get new proper high discharge cells for about $5.

Thanks for posting the photos and giving me the opportunity to make some stems for the Touch. Finally got to try them in a Touch the other day. Was very pleased with how it performed with and without the glass liner tube. The Touch seems to provide just the right amount of heat for a very tasty roast. Having the ability to adjust the position of the screen in the stem provides more versatility.
There are several screen options available as well. My preference is the 10mm basket screen for ease of installation and works with or without the glass mouthpiece tube. The 10mm flat screen has the smallest metal mass and uses the end of the glass tube for a stop in the wooden stem. A 8.5mm basket screen will fit inside of the 10mm glass mouthpiece tube for roasting smaller amounts.
It is possible to make the 10mm glass mouthpiece tube a bit shorter. However, if it is shorter than the wood, it is possible to get the glass tube stuck inside the stem. I like to have enough glass sticking out that you can grip to pull it out. The glass mouthpiece tube can also be used for a hemp / cotton fiber filter.

I do like quite a few features about the Touch. The pressure required for the switch is almost like you aren't pushing it. The unit is so small that I can completely palm it while reaching the switch with my little finger. Very stealthy. It is very stable when standing upright on the table. Tough to knock it over. Nice to view the coil through the side windows. I can even see it well when looking down through the heater screen.
The battery cover/door is quite unique and functions well. The wood is very beautiful. The taste is quite good.

Inserting the battery correctly is very important with this unit.
Keep up the good work so more people can enjoy your product.
