Hi, just browsing but I see the standard has a "set" setting (340-360 F) and the XL has variable temp.

Is the variable temp a "dial" like 1:00, 2:00 etc or what? My real question is can you set exact temp like on Herbalizer (eg 430 F) or is it approx setting??
Thanks

P.S. Where are they made? I see PPN is close but ??
Thanks

Yes they are a dial type with 1 to 10 on the dial, some have temp display as well next to the number.
Mine is 1 top 10 which translates to 90 to 230 Celsius

Nop, it's approximate.

:myday: I would suggest to sit, wait, & see; as a new system is about to be announced .. (by the end of the year)

Sebastien is aware of this thread, and should possibly sign up and say more about it

As far as i am concerned, when my Roor clone of the Herborizer is sparkling clean and filled with fresh water, the hits are the most sublime i have every had!
The flavor lasts so long and the clouds are vast and numerous.
I do find i require one stir to mix in the very edges but the end result is perfectly even ABV!

I am intrigued on seeing how this can be made to be better!

I'll be watching this thread more as this intrigues me. I'm guessing used units are hard to find, like the Roor piece---lucky you

I loved the Verdamper at Amsterdam coffee shops but it was a bit much for home use IMO.
This kind of looks like a mini-Verdamper.
Anybody had or used both, and how do they compare?

Thanks
and I'd wait for next version, likely good advice.
Only real potential upgrade I'd see is "digital pick your exact temp" function.
Dial system works great for repeatability but I still like having exact temp like Herbalizer or Mighty etc---just my opinion for how I use my vapes

P.S. what is the approx warmup time as that was kinda long on the Verdamper when you're hot to trot.
La Tertulia gave me a bong to use while waiting for VerD to warm up---disgusting, wished I had waited but it was my first stop and I apologize ;)

@MinnBobber

Mine takes about 8 minutes to heat up.
.........................................................................

Thanks,
kind of like miniVAP time to warm up. I've learned to turn it on FIRST, then prepare bud, sometimes heat water for hydratube, get a cold drink, do a couple of my daily stretches and .... it's go time.
Nobody I know has one to try :( but it does interest me!

All this action in the herborizer thread makes me want to get mine out. I should probably get it ready for our halloween party this weekend anyway. Nice to see some life here and I'm really excited to hear of a new version in the works. Seb is a great guy, I talked to him on the phone many years ago when I first got mine. Interested to see what he has come up with this time.

Great was thinking about another one but will wait hopefully heatup time is good nothing i dread more than waking up in pain wanting my herbo and knowing its 20 mins until i am high as a mofo i now just keep it on 24/7. I think the more i use this the better it becomes because i learn to use it better.

He knows the bowl is too big slighty, The handle is too small can be slippy and really that is my only complaint and the power of course i hope the same 230c 10 settings remains because i use this setting all the time not lower. Cant wait goodluck Seb!

I agree, the Herborizer has the best flavor of every other vape I ever tried.

I own an Herborizer XL and I have used a Verdamper several times in various NL coffeeshops.
Other than than because is way smaller and easier to handle I prefer the Herbo for the temperature control. The bowl is also smaller and the heater design allows for a more even roast. I cannot comment about the pipes it's sold with because I use it with my own glass.

Only real potential upgrade I'd see is "digital pick your exact temp" function.

I don't think it would be really possible to give an exact temperature with this design as I can't figure where to read this temp to be an useful info: the heater temperature? The tip of the injector? The air inside the bowl? It would also require more wiring and possibly more stuff in the air path so I think it's better to stick with the current design and just adjust the temperature by "feel". I'm probably used to it because I mostly use butane vapes so eyeballing the temperature is part of my routine.

Good spot about extra wires for a digital but even if it shows a number you can remember a sweet spot through voltage alone no? The new one will be for oils so as far as i can grasp from an email it will go much higher than a herbo which is 230c.

So it would not have protection like a herbo either you can pretty much pack a herbo bowl set to max and nothing will burn as long as you have not packed it touching the heater in which case it will char a little but still not combustion. Now a potential noob could fire this right up and combust herbs at oil temps i bet!

Im guessing the dial this way will mean experiments by color or we will be told what numbers are a certain temperature. Personally i just want the old one with faster heatup time and less loss of heat but we shall see soon.

@rodders83 : I'm not familiar with E-nails & dabs, but the next new Herborizer will have a titanium heater, and two interchangeable glass housing for it;
One for herbs, the other for concentrates, where the oil will be in contact of heater (though the glass..)
It will run on the actual temp controller, so I guess no risks to combust :myday:

It's a matter of weeks now ..

Yep but isn't the same thing we're doing with the current design? I know to let it sit at 10 for ten minutes to warm up, take the first hit at 10 then lower it to 7,5-8 and so on.

I can't wait to see the new design, really curious about it.
Do you know if will be possible to do a Sublimator style double decker hit?

I've heard some people are questioning the 'portability' of the Herborizer.

Here is my Custom homemade Flight Case
It have been dragged with me a little everywhere,
have seen some, have some crashs,
but still perfect when out&about (or at home..) :

Salut @Joaon

I have difficulties to imagine and see how this will be designed. From your words it seems the whole concept is "re-thinked" ?
Do you mean the heater is fully enclosed for oils and conductive-like ?
What about herbs ? Where does the fresh air will get in ? On current herbo I see where the air gets out onto the bowl but forgot and can't see where it get's in ?

I don't know if you have seen any prototype, picture, or something, .. ? But i'm sure a lot of people are curious here. :brow:
What do we have to look for the end of this year : official sale launching ?

I always wanted a kind of vape for bigger load session with clean air-path and designed for water filtration. Especially when your tolerance need it : you know, sometime...

I also tried Verdamper, found it was too big and needed too much material, + it's tricky to get higher temps. I had a colleague who was selling his herbo, sadly I never got the occasion to try it and I don't really wish to ask him... About the Aromed, I was so sad not getting news from a guy selling one for cheap as I really want to try one before giving off hardly earned money, though for 50eur I would have take the risk even if it needed some parts...

Please, let us know... Cause if launch is for soon, there must have some warnings, no ?:)

Hi @Bvapst

I don't really know much more than you actually .. : :myday:

Sebastien just told me on a quick CS phone call that a new system was in development,
smaller, faster, stronger than actual Basic & XL ones
New Titanium heater element
Injector joint size: 18mm (instead of actual 24mm) -> Smaller bowl I presume !
Two switchable Injector glass housing -> I presume one for herbs like actual ones but smaller, and one for oils where the concentrate would be touching the injector through glass housing. Can't figure how it will be actually !
It will works with actual temperature controller

And .. I don't know really much more :ninja:

No pics, nothing.. I just know that Sebastien has already prototyped and tested it, and he sounded really enjoyed about it

Like all of you I'm really looking forward to finally see this "Re-thinked" Herborizer, because the Basic & XL system are actually pretty efficient!
The XL has no problem to deal with really hot temps (as cooler ones..),
the bowl is big enough for big party sessions (but kinda mammoth for 0,01g)
and the purity of vapor is limitless !

So yeah, the New Herbo will surely be a keeper!

Now, we just have to wait that Sebastien releases it ! About the end of the year, maybe?:luv:

I bought a large Verdamper in 2009 and it was my solitary vape until early 2015.
I, and everybody else thought it was a beast, so powerful, it really takes your head off. One thing about it is how quickly and effortlessly it produces huge potent clouds. It just happens for you, no real technique or great lung power needed.

And it can give huge hits so quickly, you can medicate so fast with it. In terms of effort rquired, its the least I have ever experienced with vapes, in terms of the amount of time you need to spend actually inhaling, versus other vapes, to get blitzed.
Compared to, say, the Aromed, where you spend a lot of time inhaling. The former suits me better, not having to be tied to a repetitive action for 20 minutes.

The verdamper can take mondstous loads. The more you put in, the more you get out. For example, if 3 people shared a gram load, you each would get much nore hammered than if you vaped 0.33 grams to yourself. Ridiculous hits!
When I first got the Verdamper, I was sick for 7 weeks and couldnt use it, so when I could, I insisted on vaping three 0.4 gr loads per day. I did this for 11 days and after that I felt utterly damaged, like I had been on the heaviest illegal rave psychedellic binge for a week, with the reality of my condition too difficult to bare (I really damaged my brain with ecstasy, lsd, mushrooms etc, many times, and this Verdamper usage was on par!)

Those 11 days, the first 0.4 load, I thought would be quick and easy, went on forever, and I was wasted after just a few pulls. It took me all day to finish all 3 loads, and I got in bed past midnight, having a whitie each night, wide awake buzzing for hours.

Nobody could ever understand how I had vaped 1.2 grams a day like that. To even hard core stoners (which Im not exactly), a half gram is plenty for a day.

Anyway, it is a great vape if power and heavy hit is what you like. In 2011, my friend got the Herborizer xl. I did like it, it was like a step down from Verdamper. It has less hard hitting power, less airflow through it, smaller bowl. It has noticeably better flavour which lasts way longer, and obviously variable temperature.

The Verdamper cooks the green so quickly, like yellowed from hit one. The Herborizer cooks the weed much more evenly with no hotspots. The herborizer is much smoother and gentler than Verdamper. I have serious allergy issues, and Verdamper just does my chest in.

I tolerate the Herborizer much better. However I do prefer the powerful high of the Verdamper. I accepted last year that the Verdamper is no good for my sensitive lungs, and I tried the Aromed, which I was considering in 2009 before I found Verdamper.

The Aromed is the other extreme, sipping many smaller hits for an accumulative buzz. It is much gentler on my lungs, but it gave me lots of throat irritation. I never really got this with the Verdamper, unless I vaped weed grown with chemical ferts (my allergies prevent me from using anything not self produced due to allergies to nearly all organic ferts, and especially chemical ones). Chemical ferts irritate the vocal chords.

This may be due to shorter air path of the Aromed to Verdamper, and the tiny amount of water, compared to the Verdmaper's pond (I used to fill it up to about 8 inches depth, extra cooled that way and easier pull, less air etc).
The Aromed was hard work though and time consuming, it seemed I was never really getting there, and taking most of the day and night over it.
With Verdamper, I could just use it twice per day, effortlessley, taking 5 to 10 monster hits in short time, and feel happy around the clock, very long lasting effect.

Also, the Verdamper is so easy to use, the bowl never burns you, is very stable and easy to load/empty, handle etc. Easy to tip out herbs and grind down, or switch out in 1 second for a different strain, then back again. Or if I had my own supply I cant afford to share, ot takes 2 seconds to tip it out and put a friend's load in. Very easy to share using your own material, taking turns.
The Aromed in contrast was more difficult to load and unload, inspect. It is less stable and requires care. Mostly though, I have problems with hands/wrists and Aromed was awkward for me in general. And it isnt the right for for me, die to my allergies I want fast powerful medication, not continual or frequent usage.

So I then got a Herborizer xl, last May. But I only learned this year thatbthe injector was defective and not heating properly. It was replaced and works properly now.
I stick to heat setting 7 (200°C) which is what Verdamper is at constant.
Higher temps like @lazylathe uses will give stronger, thicker hits, but are more irritating. For me if Verdamper had temp control, I would lower temp for my chest.

The Herborizer heating elemeny is way less powerful than Verdamper, which has a huge coil and therefore large surface area, explaning the raw power, similar to the Supreme in concept.

Great was thinking about another one but will wait hopefully heatup time is good nothing i dread more than waking up in pain wanting my herbo and knowing its 20 mins until i am high as a mofo i now just keep it on 24/7. The wait time has never been a problem for me. 7 minutes to setting 7, thats no time. You just need to think ahead a little. Only if you just come home can it not be ready when you need. Like if you want it first thing in morning, put it on, yawn, brush your teeth or take a piss.
Just dont turn it off unless you are going out, or certain you dont want more for a little while. But actually I re-read, ypu use highest setting ,so yeah a longer wait I guess.

The handle on the bowl is okay for me, at first I wasnt too impressed, but the handle on the injector is the real problem, very awkward. I always hold the wire at the same time when I lift the injector, which stops it pulling and slipping.

This is one way to heat up the load faster, which is why there can be a delay on clouds coming. The verdamper has much more raw power and gives big clouds instantly.

Regarding load size, I feel the Herborizer needs a bigger load than the Veramper did to give big hits. Although Verdamper worked better with larger loads, 0.2 grams could work well, you just need to grind it down as it dries out to release more clouds before you spend it too gradually.

And with big loads in Verdamper, ot hits you so much harder thatvyou dont need to finish the load, just unplug and return later, often for 3 good stoning sessions.

However, Im sure that on higher temps like many of these boys use, the Herborizer can do well with smaller loads. When both on the same temp, 200 C, the Verdamper is far more powerful. But the temps dont equate to the same, so the Herborizer will be more equivalent to Verdamper on a higher relative temp.

About exact temp control and the desire for digital, i totally agree with @The Beagle that it is best as it is, and not over complicated. Okay you dont know the exact temp in the bowl, but the temp is very consisitent in my view. Just find your sweet spot, and it is pretty precise, exact and reliable, and consistent, and stable too.

Can I mention this here, @Bvapst? My Aromed is in perfect condition eith minimal use and good care. I just need to iso wash the bowl. I have been meaning to re home it for over a year but havent been well enough to get anything done except survival tasks, but I do plan to. We can talk about that later maybe if you are interested.

@Alexis

I have the RooR clone, just labelled differently.
My use is to start and stay at heat setting 8 and once allowed to correctly warm up, immediate huge clouds. Very easy and effortless but the flavor may be too extreme for you.

To get the best use out of it, i heat up everything together for the first 15 minutes.
Herb holder with herb loaded, heater injector and then on the bong.
This get everything nice and warm and the hits are very big right off the hop.

Start with a cold bowl and it takes longer for it to reach equilibrium.
I treat this vape and my Sublimator the same way. They are both great vapes that take time to heat up and perform as required. if i want speed, i have an array of other vapes i can use.

The Roor Vapor is my best tasting vape of all time!
A session lasts so long and is flavorful to the end!
Wish i found this beast earlier!

@Joaon An 18mm injector would be awesome and so much more user friendly and accepted!!

I do the same as I also found it really improves how it performs.

I'm really interested in the new concentrates injector as I can't justify the expense for a serious enail setup for the few times I have access to something good enough to be dabbed alone (I'm in a non legal country so I have to make my own stuff) and I have never be able to get good consistent hits with a nail and a torch. If the price is good it could be a great addition to my setup. As for the smaller bowl and injector I think it's a serious improvement for the Herborizer lineup but I'm not really interested into buying one as I reserve my Herbo for special occasions and I prefer a Lotus or a station heated Vapman for daily home use.
Nice to see some activity in here!
