I really did squeeze gently with my girly-man hands

bimet_disk.jpg

Super man hand, surely!

Try snugging them back in (possibly with the eraser end of a pencil) past the crimp point, till they click back in, and squeeze cap ( gently ) past the crimp to take it out of round.

If they stay in, you are good to go, if not, give DV a holler.

If you have needle nose pliers, try crimping the area past the discs a bit.

I personally would ask DV to replace the cap for your new Omni. Their CS is golden.
Talk to Christina. I know, the wait. It’s the wait that kills you.

PS thanks for your photo, I have always been itchy curious about the discs, but unwilling
To sacrifice a perfectly good cap to satisfy that itch. Haha.

WTF ?
Opposing snapping action ?
Now,I think I know why the new caps are "stubborn " or "slow" to click ,
compared to the old ones .

The bimetallic disks used are the " TRUFLEX " brand .
But the exact type remains unknown .
No other markings visible at the pic ,except " TRUF " & "LEX " .

Interesting. Thanks @stardustsailor . One of the many reasons I love Dynavap is that there's so much info out there about how exactly the entire thing works. Specially George's own videos where he explains the air flow, thermodynamics of it all.
The better you understand how any tool/device works, the more control you have over its functioning. Not to mention the satisfaction of getting the optimum usage out of it. Also, it tickles the nerd in me :)

A little more than a fortnight to Labor Day, signaling the passing of summer here.

On the positive side, we have yet to be slammed by a hurricane—just drought, wildfires, and
floods. The new normal.

Most flowers have passed, altho these three *BLOOMED* recently. Suddenly.

Wonder if VapCap will come up with a newly designed VapCap Product this Fall.

The long awaited CoffeeCup VapCap Induction Heater?

Welcome @ChooChooCharlie Thanks for the pics of the naked clicker, and for this thread, that is about as far from a derailment as it gets. You'll know when this thing is heading off the rails.
@stark1 Thanks for the jinx, now no less then 3 hurricanes are gonna hit land this season.:uhoh:

Instead of a newly designed Vapcap, I said hello to an old friend. My very first VC was a cocobolo woody with a gen 2 tip. Took that body and put in my xl omni condenser and a gen 5 tip. After a year traveling with a vong body, I forgot how sleek, elegant, and dare I say, civilised a Vapcap can be.
:peace:

Problem though, just squeezed, but the bimetallic disk popped out on the floor.
There're printed letters on one side.
Seems odd, shall I just press it back in? Won't it pop out again

WOW! I think that that has been the first time that this has happened or at least that we've heard of. It's not even a hack. Squeezing the cap for fit is a regular adjustment recommended by George himself.

I think that the cap is defective and should be replaced. IMHO

Just to clarify....The squeeze takes place around the bottom of the cap, the open end, near the digger outter.

Just FYI for anyone who has a dweeb in their life that they would like to gift a VapCap launch pad.

Computer hard drives use extremely strong molybdenum magnets to balance the read/write arm. If you have an old hard drive or old computer you are going to throw out, take the hard drive apart (a few torx screws) and lift the top magnet off. What remains makes a pretty neat launch pad for the nerd in your life.

No sweat on the pic, bruh, but since I didn’t see anyone specify:
the squeeze-the-cap trick only works IF THE CAP IS IN PLACE ON THE TIP!!!!

I have never adjusted a cap while it's on the tip.

I remove the cap from the tip, place my thumb and forefinger near the bottom of the cap; the open end, with my thumb on the digger outer side and my other finger on the opposite side. A gentle but firm squeeze will adjust and tighten the fit.....most of the time...
