    Advantages

do you want to do ONLY oil? well, now you can.

a small dab of oil produces less vapor than a bowl of flower. do you want to spend 3 minutes chain-hitting a bowl, stirring, hitting it again, stirring, emptying, or do you want to spend 3 seconds dropping a little ball of oil on the nail and walking away stoned as shit?

it just makes the vaporizer more versatile. i have an oil rig already anyways, and I can easily see the convenience of an "electric nail" that isn't the $800 HE e-nail.

Hi, Dude ! :) . Advantages of the dab kit IMO are that you can taste oil only.. + it gets less messy as when you mix with weed , also no screen to clog up + wand benefits reclaim . Ti nail also delivers more termal mass so you can easy vaporize more at once if you want.. Also concentrates can handle higher temps and still vaporize avoiding combustion leading to incredibly dense clouds... and the sweet adrenaline rush unachievable for people with very high tolerance :) . Also IME i need higher temps to completely extract all the goodness.. temps where weed would combust but there still will be unvaped goodies formed in solids, so i say it adds to the efficiency :).
Edit (didn't saw last post hadnt refreshed the page or i type damn slow)

People do oil by itself (dab fashion) because they like the taste and the purity.
I very often use cotton (not a bed of weed.. it becomes a bit messy).
"Dabbers' are folks that prefer a bit more kick to their hit.
Dabbers want that pure intense concentrated flavor and effect.
The problem is that dab tools (skillets/swingarms, and Nails) are messy and use a torch that makes things awkward (and dangerous).
The DBV oil rig allows a slower dab if desired.. and eliminates a heat source being applied over and over.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to give the oil setup a shot when I have the money. Looks really enticing. If .1g of herb knocks me on my ass, I can't imagine what .1g of some decent BHO would do utilizing the dab kit.

so after receiving my new stopper (which i love... so much better than the barbell one) i have been testing it very heavily with my flowers. Yes i did say my flowers. why my flowers you ask?? the reason is simply, i have flowers all the time and i have oil/wax very rarely. this thing works awesome for oil/waxes. i still haven't found the perfect temp setting for oil/waxes but have been using between 12:00 and 3:00 settings.

when i first got this kit with the barbell stopper i had BIG issues trying to vape flowers. even at the highest setting i could just get wispy vapor and my meds didn't turn any colors. the barbell did not sit right and always fell over. there was gap if the barbell was not straight up that allowed air into the globe. needless to say i was quite disappointed cause it meant i had to keep switching heater covers back and forth depending what i wanted to vape. i have an older DBV that uses shims and spacers to hold the heater cover on and not clips like the newer DBV's. so switching heater covers were a pain in the @$$ as my shims and spacers were not the same either so those had to be swapped as well. i was told by 7th floor that i should not have to be swapping back and forth and i should be able to use the oil heater cover and stopper for flowers as well. this was not the case for me.

Chris from 7th floor was in contact with me the whole time and was excellent in his job. he told me a new stopper would fix the issue and sent one out when they were available. the new stopper came and i have spent the last few weeks testing. as i said before... for oil/wax there was and still is no issue. for flowers..... there is an improvement, i wont say it's perfect but i can now vape flowers again and not have to swap back to the original heater cover. i gat good vapor and my ABV comes out evenly cooked, not very dark like my solo gets it, but an even light tan/light brown.

here's the thing though, and why i say it's not perfect.... to vape flowers with this heater cover and stopper, i have to turn the temp up ALOT higher than i used to with the original heater cover. with the original, i set it at 10:00 to 11:00 and it would vape perfectly.... with the oil heater cover and stopper i have to have the temp set to 3:00. i would be close to combustion at that setting on the original heater cover. with the oil one, i get normal vapor.

has anyone else with this kit that uses it for flowers too, seen the same thing?? also.... do you leave the Ti cup in place even when using it for flowers?? i have been cause i usually forget to take it out and the thing is too hot to remove it. maybe thats why i have to have the temp up so high??

all in all, i like the kit and am glad i got it and like it even more now that i have a better stopper.

I use my DBv mainly for flowers and have had no issues besides having to vape at 1130-12 instead of 11 -1130. Its strange you have to put it that high. Maybe its your heater cover?

    Edit
Also my ti cup is dead center in the heater covers GonG connection if that matters.

    Edit
Forgot to add that I need to have the 'hook' on the knob pointed in the direction of the gong connection and straight up or my hits are a bit more wispy.

chris at 7th floor said my heater cover is not the issue and that is why he sent me the new stopper. he did say that those were an issue at first. the new stopper does help as i said i can now vape flowers with the oild heater cover and stopper but i do have to turn up the temp. as i stated above... with my original heater cover (the one that came with my DBV when i bought it in 2007) in place i only have to turn the dial to 10:00 or 11:00 and i get awesome results. for some reason though with the new oil heater cover and stopper i have to turn it up to 3:00 to get the same results which is better than with first barbell stopper i got where even when the dial was full blast i could not get ANY good vapor and my flowers stayed green.

p.s. the issue is NOT my draw technique either..... chris has suggested i pull slower. if i pull any slower than i am now..... i will die from the lack of oxygen getting to my lungs!!! i have had my DBV since 2007 and i know how to pull on this thing and how to adjust my pull for different flowers and situations so my pull technique is not the issue i can be positive about that!!!

I haven't had to change my draw technique with the upgrade. It should operate nearly the same as the old cover, it really sounds like the stoppers not properly stopping. Have you tried positioning the ball at different angles? I hope everything gets worked out for you.

my new stopper with the hook sits on top of the globe ALOT better than barbell one. there is no more sliding or falling over. i checked it and it looks like the seal is good all around the ball. i appreciate your words of encouragement but it does work better now than it did before as i could not vape flowers at ALL... now i can i just have to turn up the heat to achieve what i used to be able to do at a lower temp setting on the dial. at least now i can vape my flowers now

Remember, that you will be dabbing out of a Titanium cup... and you will need to stabilize your LSV in a very solid position to use the unit wearing a "nail".
I am sure the guys are thinking about what you sent them~

Mine just arrived about an hour ago for my SSV. It installed with no problem. My stopper seems to sit good. I turned it to full blast for a few minutes. Then I turned it back to 12 before trying it. I think I need a better dabber because all I have is my SSV & LSV picks. Thanks for the recommendation, Vito!

I love this thing. I can't stop dabbing. Out of curiosity, I see little bits of black in my titanium cup and I've cleaned it out twice now. Does that mean I'm too hot and I'm combusting? Or is combusting just the nature of the beast when it comes to do doing dabs? Or does that mean my oil is impure?

Very likely it means there are impurities in the oil.
No biggy... some of the most potent meds I have had have had minor residues~

is there a proper way to clean the "cup/nail"?? i know with my regular Ti nail i just super heat it till it's cherry red and everything burns off. followed by a quick wipe with some ISO, and thena second super heat.

    would i do the same with 7th Floor's "cup/nail"??

I fill it with 91% Iso, rub with qtips, then empty and polish dry with dry new qtip.
I concentrate on the inside corner.
It gets very clean this way.

im curious about the dab kit for the ssv, how does it compare to torch dabs? is it an instant hit like with dabbing or slower like a vape sesh? milky, choking hits? or heating the oil slowly and softly for whispy style? haha too many questions, just wondering.

are you supposed to use it in conjunction with those porous discs? or do you jus dab straight on to the nail?

When I used it there was no disc, it was straight off the nail.
