Customized vape setups

Well I'd really like a Mobius Bubbler, but I also want a bigger house and better car. I guess I've just got to accept my niche in the market place and live within my means...for the time being (my day will come! lol) My current disposable income isn't quite disposable enough to spend that much on some glass which I'm pretty much guaranteed to break within 2 years.

So instead I got this with only moderate expectations and I've gotta say I'm really impressed. It's certainly not quite as elegant as a Mobius bub- the mouthpiece tube is a little bit fat for my liking. But wowsers, I can't fault it for function. Do you like my bubbles?

Really nice clouds too- my ssv doesn't often milk my other glass as well as that for some reason?

found this on BM and I'm definitely considering it. it only has 5 slits in the 'gear perc', so I'm thinking it might be a bit draggy. thoughts? for those w/out a boro sub, it's basically a micro w/ an inline showerhead.

As I was in need of a new bubbler (My boss had permanently "borrowed" by LW 15-arm bub) so I decided to drive out to Aqua Lab Technologies in Riverside, CA on my lunch break.

I picked up Luke Wilson's newest 15-arm bub. I wasn't aware that Luke now his work under the "Leisure" moniker now.

I like the improvements over my original bub in that the mouthpiece is flared now (similar to Mobius) instead of the "cobra" mouthpiece on the original. The arms of the bubbler almost touch the floor of the unit which allows for much less water than before, so that is a plus. I also love the recessed "dewaar" joint. The new model hits identically to the old one IMHO.

The only thing that I didn't care for was the "Leisure" label on the front. I prefer clean, label-free glass, but that's just my own preference. Here's a couple of pics I took at ALT.

Ohh.. You went to ALT!?! Too cool. I also hate labels, but that one is not bad. I have made concessions to my label adversion for something great. I love that recessed joint, too. My next one is going to have that.
I also love the Wilson's work and was hitting my Luke a couple of minutes ago.
So, what's it like at ALT? East Coasters want to know!

ALT has a small storefront attached to their wharehouse and corp. HQ. It was not very large, just a few display cases and a wall of glass maybe 25 feet long. There was just one guy in dreadlocks at the cash register, but he seemed to pretty much occupied with phone support. He was a friendly dude, though and he sure knew his stuff. I'd say that about half of the glass on display there was for concentrates and most of the small glass pieces were oil dabbers and dishes. When we walked in, he asked "you lookin' for glass for flowers or concentrates?" I quickly replied "neither. VAPOR!" He laughed and said "that'll work, too". They had a bunch of extraction-related equipment like bubble hash bags, presses, sifters and shit like that. They even had 2 volcanoes on display behind the register.

:peace:

Edit: I found this video on youtube that shows the inside of the store well.

Congrats Stu, solid bub. So you went to mecca! I've chided Luke about that label but he has a mind of his own. Anyway use it well!

Well, since it will be kept at my boss's house, I'll only be using it on occassion. However I'm just happy to get my own bub back from him. I didn't realize how much I missed it while it was loaned out. I normally use it on a daily basis, so it really has become my daily driver.

:peace:

@Pappy.... that's Mr. Bill, not Cartman (unless of course that's the name of an acutal series and you just got the "Mr Bill" version in the series? With the Made in China sticker I kinda doubt that, though  )

You're right it, does look like Mr. Bill... But that's what Bumble calls it! Gonna have to give him the third degree. ;)

Wow, really interesting pieces. They both look Very Arabesque. How do they perform?
Good question! Both have diffusion discs and are based on the same technology but perform quite differently. The Big Boy is too voluminous to use as a daily driver, not because it doesn't function efficiently, which it does beautifully, but because cleaning something this big is a real chore. Indeed, it functions so efficently that the biggest drawback is inhaling too much vapor on the initial inhale and not leaving enough breath to fully clear it.

It's more for show than for daily use and I think Philpot built it just to prove he could, kinda like a cigar store Indian. In fact it's so oversized I had to separate it from my collection because it dwarfs even my biggest pieces.

It demands its own pedestal... It's my coffee table bong.

I was looking at those lovely Philpots and realized that you still use the same photo setup Pappy. I wondered why it looked so familiar....... check out the background of my avitar. :D

It's hitting very nice. My buddy is enjoying it and I'll go visit it on Superbowl Sunday with some toys to play with.

Oh, and when I told him how I came about my original piece, I explained how it came from Pappy. I told him what a cool dude you were and he wants to drive out your way one of these days to have lunch. What do you think?

I have decided to have something made from EFS! I contacted Justin about a piece that has a Jerry face, and he has been wanting to do one for a while now. He said he will start right away, but needs exact specs. I am going to have to research EFS and see what I like, but I'd love some input. Pappy, I know you did some custom work with them in the past and you know what i like, so I (of course) would love your input. I would love to hear from anyone else who has dealt with EFS before- or just has better knowledge of glass than I do!

I was going to start a new thread for this (maybe I should?), but figured I'd post here first. I'm excited about this and may even add a bit of color- which would be a first for me! Opinions?

Thanks, as always!!

It is, and I'm ashamed to say in this thread that it's Chinese :tinfoil: It's by Black Leaf.

But aside of that shame I'm pretty happy with it- I think some of the dogma about Chinese glass being poor quality is outdated nowadays; this looks pretty well made- maybe not in the league of the Mobius I want, but the joins and overall level and quality of finish on this are actually 'worth' twice as much as the small US made Green Goddess Glass piece I also bought recently, although the price was similar.

My only criticisms of it would be that the glass could perhaps be thicker. That said, it still feels plenty adequate and it's it's on a wide base, so will never tip over. The other slight negative IMO is the mouthpiece bore being a little larger (38mm) than I think it should ideally be for a bubbler.

Other than that I can't fault it. Got it from Grasscity, so no crazy shipping prices or import fees like with American shopping.

http://www.grasscity.com/eu_en/black-leaf-saxo-glass-bubbler-recessed-joint-10-arm-tree-perc.html

Worth noting for the Uk'ers that the European version website seems quite a bit cheaper (nearly 10 on the bubbler). It's all a bit f'ked up though- it gives the price in Euro's but at checkout in the small print says 'you will be billed $xxX'. the $ figure was actually equivalent to 90 euro, rather than the 80 the exchange rate say's it should be. Yet then when I went to the payment provider page the figure was back in Euros, so I figure I should've actually been charged in Euros. I'll have to wait for my credit card statement to check what currency I've been charged in. But if they have somehow switched it to bill in dollars at an unfavourable exchange rate I'll investigate my rights- I'm sure this would be against European law, despite whatever small print on the checkout page.

I've only seen them on BM, but his bent-neck bubblers look pretty nice. I wouldn't mind having a single chamber w/ a gridded donut, or his double percs look sick too. though I don't really understand the appeal of a second perc, especially since it seems overkill for vapor.

@ Tstat > Good advice. My custom has now become the EFS norm for single chamber bent necks. I think the can was 5 or 5.5 inches and it was around 13" tall. The double gridded donut is a great perc and he can do crazy color work and blasting for reasonable $ although I know you don't generally dig that. Tell Justin you know me and give him my best.

Smore glass porn... ;)
