For Reggea/Punk/Metal fans (yes, they really are a mix of all those) one of my favorites is The Expendables.

There most notable song is "Bowl for Two" but I personally like "Sacrifice".

Flamenco Sketches

"Flamenco Sketches" is a jazz composition written by American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Bill Evans. It is the fifth track on Davis' 1959 album Kind of Blue, the best-selling jazz record of all time, and an innovative experiment in modal jazz. The track features Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley and Bill Evans.
The song has no written melody, but is rather defined by a set of chord changes that are improvised over using various modes of the major scale of each tonality. Each musician separately chose the number of bars for each of the modal passages in his solo. Davis gets credit for the song form, but Evans is credited with the opening 4-bar vamp over Cmaj7 and G9sus4, which is the opening theme to his ballad improvisation "Peace Piece." Because of the presence of this vamp, "Flamenco Sketches" is usually played as a ballad. The modes used in "Flamenco Sketches" are as follows:
C Ionian (natural major scale)
A? Mixolydian (Major with a minor 7th)
B? Ionian
G Harmonic Minor over D (alternates over bass notes D and E?)
G Dorian
An alternate take of "Flamenco Sketches" is included on most recent re-issues of Kind of Blue as the sixth and last track.

BTW Happy Birthday to Bill Hicks may he RIP

still stuck on hammock, their music just works for me...vaped its great for trips, heavy vaping...but when in baseline reality i can listen to it and it helps to reach up without the herb, which is cool too.

checking into a band called blackfilm though, more trance or downbeat techno but nice as well.

very distinct and repetitive sounds that are not ethereal and fluid in melody tend to distract me so i'll probably stick with hammock though.

Yes, it's sad. I know that he had been suffering with MS for a long time. I used to be friendly with a guitar player in his final lineup, Gary Lucas, and he told me some interesting stories.
Did you ever hear the band Mallard? That was the Magic Band sans Don, kind of reminded me a little of early Little Feat but a bit more angular.
I do not ever recall hearing Captain Beefheart on the radio yet so many of us are aware of his incredible and difficult music.

Was just vaping away watching a great quiz show we have here in the UK called QI (Quite Interesting) and learnt a great little music-related Fact of the Day about our beautiful Mary Jane!

J.K Rowling was perhaps inadvertently inspired (she half-heartedly denies it) by Jazz musicians' use of weed in the 1920s and 1930s (and the contemporary slang for it) for the word for her non-wizarding folk - Muggles

See here and by searching Google in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muggles_(recording)

Dunno why she did though because being a Muggle has always seemed pretty magical to me! :ko:

See Satchmo's classic rendition here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY6Yo6lE-Jg

I saw Furthur in March. One of the great things about their shows, or Ratdogs, is you can buy cds of that evenings show or order it online. Makes for a very nice momento.

I've been a long term fan of Tom Waits since the late 70's. Recently I discovered a singer by the name of Jill Tracy and she's of the same genre as Tom Waits. Like Tom Waits she's not for everyone, but I love it. If you like Waits then you may also like Jill Tracy Anyone else out there familiar with Jill Tracy.

Right now I'm listening to "Rectifier" from Daft Punk's album TRON: The Legacy, all of their songs are good on this album ^.^, especially including: "Nocturne", "Adaigo for TRON", and "Fall"

Other than that classical music is very nice to listen to while I'm vaked, like Chopin, Mozart's requiem...

Recently I've been listening to Oasis too, "I'm outta time" is a good one, and of course Wonderwall & Champagne supernova are obvious good ones ^.^

EDIT: Lol, okay I have to add more songs to that Daft Punk list: "C.L.U", and "Disc Wars"

Also! Infected mushroom is another very interesting group that is... very interesting!
