Hello FC, first post coming up!
I'm fairly new to vaping, but have used MFLB, lightbulb-style and an iolite.
Recently I sold my iolite thinking of getting a little better one, and so I bought the Solo. I then went on a longer trip and now coming back home (long tolerance break ;)) and started lurking out here in FC again!

My situation is that I do want a good portable vape, and would like to get an Cloud/Oracle (is BMI out of business?) , but that won't be until next year!

Both the Ploom Pax and ThermoVape T1 caught my eye and now I am seriously considering selling my Solo and switching to one of the other two!

Rating order from what I've understood by threads:
Aspect: 3p - 2p - 1p
Portable: Pax - TV - Solo
Stealth: Pax - TV - Solo
Vapour Q: Solo - TV - Pax (?)
Price: Solo - TV - Pax
Build Q: Stalemate
Recharge Freq: TV - Solo - Pax
Addons/mods: TV - Solo - Pax

Final points:
Pax: 10p
TV: 12p
Solo: 12p

Please let me know of your :science: opinion!
Cheers, Canswe

welcome here,

really nice first post. Wish I knew so much about vapes before i came here ;)

I only have a solo so cannot really comment on the others, but might I ask what you don't like about the solo? Because a lot of 'out of the box' 'problems' with the solo can be easily helped by some little modding...If it is purely for stealthy use then off course the solo i way behind on the other two vapes mentioned...

Thank you :)
Well I haven't had time to try the Solo yet, but I am heading back home in 3-4 days.
The TV 25% off coupon ("SUMMERTIME") makes it a really nice deal, and I'm seriously considering it, as I may have found a potential buyer for the Solo!

What do you think of the Solo's vape Q compared to the iolite?

perhaps you should add another vape to your list; the Inhalater. In my opinion, it's the best out of all of them. It's just a little bigger than the T1 or Pax, tastes incredible and has a micro-usb port for recharging anywhere.

please tell me what it is about the solo that doesn't cut it for you? The pax is a pretty good device too. I think it makes more vapor than the tv does actually. if i were to choose between the pax and the tv1 i'd go for the pax now. it's a better unit imo.

as for your charts I have 2 disagreements. On vapor production, pax beats tv imo.

and recharge frequency tv loses as it's actually the worst in this regard. you have to carry tons of spare batteries with you to use it!

maybe consider 2 vapor variables. vapor quantity and vapor quality.
quantity is
solo, pax, tv
quality is a tougher call... i'd have to think about it and even do a side by side comparison to say...

getting yourself a quality home vape would be a great thing to consider. the cloud is a beast and worth the money imo! I also want to try the oracle one day.

Would you mind doing a side-by-side comparison?
It'd be greatly appreciated! :)

Another category you might want to rate these products on is support. Having a company that is easy to reach and provides excellent support can make a big difference in how happy you'll be with your purchase.

On a side note, do you only want something that vapes flower or do you want the option to do concentrates as well? If you want the option to do concentrates, the TV products are modular and will let you do oil, hash, flower... pretty much everything.

I mainly use flowers, as it is my personal preference (although I have not tried oils). But having the option for hash would be good. Here in my part of the world oil is pretty rare, so not a big selling point there!

I've got some money lying around so I am considering a VXC instead of getting another portable, although I would be getting money back on selling my solo if need be...

What do you think of the Solo's vape Q compared to the iolite?
All vapes are capable of producing high quality vapor. Some just make it easier than others.

Of course, I just thought since the Solo and TV are convection, the vape Q may be better since it won't as easily be unevenly heated herb!

Too many models are getting the 'conduction = inferior' label these days. If your herb goes on a screen, with space underneath, it's not really conduction in the sense of the old 'hot plate' design, where only the part of the herb in contact with the hot metal, like food in a frying pan, gets vaped. The 'dome vape' design, made popular by the BC Vaporizer, was for years the only real design that was conduction. Something like the Magic Flight, while technically conduction, is far superior to a hot plate design. Surveying the popular/recommended name brand vapes on the market now, you won't find any true, old style conduction designs. Other than with those 1st gen, cheap dome vapes, making conduction vs. convection a serious factor in your decision is, IMO, not a good idea. Vape makers these days know what works, if they want to be able to compete. They know that frying your herb, one side at a time, is not where the market is now, and whatever you call the design, the models that get talked up the most here are good and effective. Just like with buying a vehicle, you simply have to figure out which model suits your particular wants/needs the best.

The Pax and Thermo are more aimed at stealth vaping, as in pocket vapes. Your Solo is more of a hybrid-about half way between home vape and pocket portable. My portable 'want' is aimed at the stealth variety. Others are perfectly happy with the 'in between' Solo. Which way you want to go in this respect should be your #1 factor.
would like to get an Cloud/Oracle (is BMI out of business?
You can buy an Oracle today- http://bminnovators.com/ . Vapornation.com has 'em with an FC discount. The Cloud and Oracle are kind of apples and oranges though. Direct draw w/Oracle is only with the fan/pump. Bag fill is convenient and easy, but most vaporists who enjoy the vaping experience end up being direct draw fans.
