Personally I think the best part of this most recent part of the conversation is this:

I look forward to hearing more about what Boundless has found, their corrective actions, and shipping resumption plans.

    Cheers

I agree I can’t wait till there are a bunch of non defective Teras out there as that video from @ohmygodimsohigh makes the Tera look like a beast!

It seems as if every single new thread on FC that is created for a newly released vaporizer has an unbelievable amount of drama in them. And almost always when there’s issues with the vaporizers. And most brand new Vaporizers has some of these troubles at some point. Maybe not an entire product recall but still.

I do think the Tera will be an outstanding vaporizer once they figure it all out. I quit using mine after the recall. I’m going to send it back to PIU in a few days. Sucks because this is exactly what I was looking for. Minus the off gassing or what ever else is going on.

I'm also waiting a few days before sending it back, will decide after they post the flaws that were found, if the good units are basically ok and they went for a recall just to be on the safe side, or wanted to fix other flaws like the WPA, then I'd rather be special and keep mine

I can't risk the off chance that they somehow change the new version for the worse, or for some reason decide to cancel the Tera and move on to other vapes... I love mine and can't risk losing it

    Bring on the drama :D

No offense....but I highly doubt what ever they do to fix the problem(s)...that it will be worse.

My Tera was kinda on the fence with the reported issues, but there was something really off about it. Mostly flavor. I did send it back to Puffitup, which is the most helpful vape retailer I have ever known, BTW. They took care of it right away. I so look forward to Boundless getting V2.0 out there and ordering another. The thing really did look like a beast. As a HUGE fan of pure (or close to pure) convection, I'll have to settle for the Grasshopper melting my face off til then.

I proudly present my new glorious modification the :leaf: Magneto bubbler attachment :leaf: or 'MBA mod' :D
This mod should work like a charm with or without water, I say should because you are not to be using it now due to the recall :p

Surprisingly, I am actually able to take 420F dry hits even without any mod.. but it's obviosuly not very pleasant on the throat, and since the included WPA isn't stable... behold

This is done by removing the glass+inner part of the glass mouthpiece, and inserting the Easy Flow bubbler (originally intended for Arizer devices). Note that signifcant force is required for both actions above but it means it's held tight, and with the included silicone/filter I get perfect seal
*Special thanks to dtaxx (AKA Napoleon) for his discovery of Tera's mouthpiece moddability

P.S. if you're high enough, you'll have realized by now that I am the first ever person in HISTORY to have introduced a magnetic bubbler attachment.. Admins- feel free to award me if you so desire, or even add "Sir" to my nickname, for this contribution to the FC community and the vaping world

Has anyone got an email back from PIU after you have returned your Tera...? Just wondering if they will offer refund or let us just wait for the next batch? But how long that will be could muddy the waters of what PIU will want to do it?

I didn’t get an email after mine was sent back but my payment was refunded. I’ll be purchasing it again from them once the new Teras are ready so I’m just holding onto their money for them. *wink*

In regards to your recent Tera Pre-Order

    Hi everyone,

Provided below is a tear down of a first production Tera unit. For this, we are providing images that @PuffItUp took during a tear down of one of their first production Tera units. Please advise that the issue that led to the recall can be seen in image “TeraTD13”.

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hvf5duo9rfox58b/AADwfsbTjS3EFOQX3kvHWKNpa?dl=0

The issue is apparent on the ceramic heating rod seen in the right corner. There was thermal tape and adhesive found on the heating rod and was not intended to be used at the temperatures it was being exposed to. This will be strictly tested for and removed from all future production units. It was also noted that in concentrate mode the heater was getting to temperatures around 550°F and above. This is closely being looked at and may be removed in future production units. Apart from the tape, we will be modifying the water pipe adapter and other flaws noted by pre-order customers. Return labels have been issued out for all pre-order customers. If you have not received one, please email me at Eric@bndlstech.com. We are strongly advising to return your first production Tera unit if you have not yet; we will fix these issues found in the first production units and promptly send out the fixed Teras to our distributors and preorder customers.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for the support, I will be providing a tear down of the fixed issues in the second production Tera units once available. We appreciate your continued support.

I'm wondering if this tape exists on all units or only the defective ones, because only some had off gassing

Well, I do have questions: this looks like the exact same tape at the exact same place we saw in the CFV1 tear-down. I would have definitely noticed it if it was in my SwiftPro as I know the smell of this tape adhesive by heart. On the other hand, several users reported a strong initial smell in the CFV1 thread.

Was this tape already present in the CFV1 or not? Was it present only in some units and not all of them? Could it be that it was always there but only the use of the concentrates mode made its presence obvious to all in the CFV2 because it far exceeded its temperature range specs?

And above all, why is it there in the first place? What is Smiss justification for putting it right in the air/vapor path when we've told them countless times already it was a no go since the original Flowermate Vapormax V? (aka FM5 OG) Why do they keep repeating the same mistake over and over again, despite having got our feedback on that so many times?

Yea while looking at the pictures for the Tera teardown, the air/vapor path and heater looks the same as the CFV. I am not sure if the CFV has tape around the small ceramic piece like the Tera does though. The CFV has that tape around the outside of the heater assembly though. Personally I'd prefer to not have any kind of plastic tape in my vape even if it can handle higher temperatures.

Edit: upon looking at the CFV teardown done by Puffitup that tape is in the exact same spot as on the Tera. How is it safe in the CFV but not the Tera?

I am also curious...about the tape. I am assuming its in all Tera Vaporizers but is it safe? Mine seems fine, smells clean and no visible off gassing but does that mean its safe? Is that tape safe below 500F? I really don't want to send mine in and wait for who knows how long but I also don't want to be vaping tape and adhesive. I cant believe they put that stuff around a heater but maybe its safe to a degree....

+1 on this, if Boundless can please clarify this issue it would be great, because I wouldn't have to send mine back (I can live without the WPA)

After reading the Boundless Alert Release Note above.....I can not believe some of you would keep using the Tera.... To me it is like playing russian roulette with a colt 45....and I do not mean a beer. ;)

Something is missing here, because it doesn't make sense that only some units misbehaved.. either this tape wasn't in all of the units, or it was misplaced or taped wrong in some... Then there's what jdent3 found about this tape being in the original CFV, which would make it a russian roulette too by this logic..?

Up to you to take the chance...... Only way you will know is to do a tear-down on yours....or keep using and see if it eventually has issues. But then again....you could also send it to a lab and have them do an analysis of compounds put out to see. But then....you probably dont have or want to spend the huge sum of coin it would take.

So.....you take a chance seemly with what Boundless just stated....or even possibly more of a chance with what might be known in the future with further scrutiny.
