I would see no problem with keeping it in for later and not even unloading it. Or even better if you load the stem with a very little amount of material, put in barely enough to make a layer and maybe up the heat to 5

Thanks all for the replies. I don't think I'll leave it in so I can keep everything clean. I will experiment with just less material and see what that does.

Thanks again!

Well god damnit man i'm getting pretty frustrated with this vaping technology.. So far i've only been running my new solo with a 14mm pvhes gong, I decided to try a session with the stock stem (they sent me 2 new stems with my warranty replacement so I now have 4), I chose the NEW straight one they sent me. Couldn't seem to get it in easily so I took out the o-ring I added from PV. It still went in pretty stiff with some force after heating up.

Ran that session fine and decided just now to try the gong again but it has basically ZERO grip, slides in if placed above and falls out if turned over. I put the o-ring back in and it was a LITTLE bit better but still super loose, falling out easy. I took a closer look and it does seem that the NEW straight stem is slightly larger which explains why it's tighter, however the NEW bent stem and the other 2 old stems are all the same slightly smaller size and they ALL are super loose now. The bent stem whirls all around now and easily pulled out.

I'm not sure what is going on. Did the o-ring possibly mess up the stock black ring? I do notice that it's not flush anymore and parts are pushed in on the sides. It seems like once I put in this thicker stock stem, it loosened up the oven area to the point where the rest of my stems don't fit anymore... just this one straight stem.

Now i'm worried about ordering any other stems because how will I even get them to fit?

I REALLY hope this one doesn't need to get sent in too.... It heats up and charges perfectly.. just now I have to hold the other stems still with my hand. Turning the GonG upside down for my bubbler is impossible unless I hold it still in the solo, which gets hella hot.

I'm also testing this all while the unit is COLD, so it's not like they are stiff and loosen up with heat as is known. With heat it's like the stems covered in butter.

Picture to see the stock black ring, does that look fine? Any ideas why the o-rings aren't helping anymore? (i've got a few from PV and one from Pipes and tried all of them)

EDIT: comparing it to the picture I took of the oven in my other unit before it went in for warranty, they both look about the same. The old unit was snug as a bug with the o-ring but had some major heat issues which is why it was sent in.

All part of the learning curve. The sizes of the bowls do tend to vary somewhat and the Solo will fit the largest best. That black ring that you show has a bad memory characteristic. More like a firm mushy material. You can correct it by gently pushing around the sides pushing the material inwards. Slowly and carefully as it can crack or chip.
IIRC, it was @Dreamerr who would use her finger nail to push it back in shape.

That does seem to be it Pipes. I pushed a little bit on the inner edges to make it less flared out. As I can see it looks very easy to crack/chip. I also don't want to push too much and make the whole ring go too low?

It's a bit better now but seems real easy to make the ring worse (left some indents where my fingernail pressed) so i'm not sure how much more I should mess with it. It's not back to normal but at least it stays in when turned upside down.

Loving this thread all 900 pages at that. My year old Solo and I are close daily friends and I have had zero issues other then a possessed charger if I try and move it. Really appreciate the sharing of tips etc. I stumble along with my loose stock stems and get great results. I also have the V tower which I haven't used since my Solo arrived last spring. I too vape at only three as despite 40 years of combusting my favorite plant I'm a cougher at times so I go gentle. Still amazed at how little product I go through. I seem to be building up a bit of ABV stock (70 gms) that is very lightly vaped. Not sure what to do with all that yet. I ramble on, cheers to all!

Yeah, the indents will lessen a bit. Not unlike putty. Not sure if pushing down too hard as I don't "think" the bottom will move down. Maybe others can advise more as I have only pushed down once and as you not too hard. I'm down to only two thicker stems left so not too concerned. Been waiting for PV to get the standard straights backs in stock.
I have tried all the other glass stems and don't see such a big difference. Actually prefer the restriction and can play with stem tilting to open up the restriction as needed.

If your cap doesnt screw all the way with the oring, warm up your solo and screw the cap in order for the oring to press the black oem ring. I repared mine this way unknowingly:tinfoil:
Great stuff.
I love the concept here. However, this would also heighten the risk of stripping the threads on the lid as well. Would apply slight downwards pressure manually at the same time. And loosen while still applying slight downward pressure as well. Once those threads strip your in for Teflon tape repair time.

EDIT: Or just push something else against the O ring.? With the base on the ground as you also do not want to push the inside out of the casing. (stripping the bottom screws)

I have same problem. Straight stem falls out even cold.
Did you press it back with cap off or on.

Is this a defect? Should I return. Otherwise perfect.

I unscrewed the top cap and you get what you see in my picture earlier. Then I pressed down on the inner part of the black ring (you can see it is flared up a bit in the middle, my guess is from pushing the largest of the stems in and then pulling out, stretching the ring up with it as it is like hard putty) and I was able to flatten it out enough that my other stems are staying still enough that they don't get pulled out accidentally. Seems fine to me now.. not nice and snug like before but I can deal. Thanks to the suggestion here.

Thanks for the input. I suspected it was getting close to done yesterday when it stopped makng any visable vapor but today it didn't really have any effect on level 2 anymore. It doesn't take like popcorn yet so I may try it up a level or two for kicks. The jack is very piney little bit earthy not my favorite but better than the way strawberry kough smells ick :p. Ive only been vaping a week so im sure as time goes on I will get to higher levels right now my tolerance is very low

Jack Herer is also the strain I puff on all day, very pine-tasting, small buds...I don't know if I'm a lightweight or what, but I vape a fresh bowl at 3, and later on vape from level 4-5...get 3 more uses out of it. 4 uses Solo vaping total compared to just 1 combusting. The last bowl feels like theres no effect, but after 10 minutes I better lay down to nap or else I will fall asleep in my chair! It might just be me though, I don't know how this strain compares to others. All I know is that West coast home grown does me fine:cool:

So I need to send my Solo in for Arizer to check it out, and I was just wondering if there is any danger in this? I used my solo pretty extensively over the past year and half. I can clean the bowl out with ISO, but I'm just afraid that the whole device has somewhat of a "scent" after seeing so much use. I opened it up recently and found some ABV inside, and I'm fairly sure I got all of it. Just kind of nervous considering I can't just soak the whole thing in ISO.

charged solo all the way to green but still shutting itself off after a few seconds...i was fiddling around before trying to turn it on, did i change the settings or something? is there any way to reset it?...or is it a faulty unit? it also still burns the herb to black even on setting 2...also the yellow lights dont go up as it heats

JACK HERER is a very good strain.
I will have in about 6 weeks some DUTCH CRUNCH (Dutch Treat #5)
It's a cross of Dutch Treat & Jack Herer.
My SOLO'S will be working over time!

WEST COAST style!

I use the bottom of a plastic 35mm film canister tilted at an angle and rotated so as to give even pressure to both sides of the black ring. I do this after warmup and only insert and remove the stem when the unit is warmed up. I don't think that doing this when cold does it any good. Have had good results so far this way. No "O" ring required so far.

Ahhh interesting. I wonder if upping the heat brings out other compounds that make you sleepy. Thus far its just been energizing. I did get a headache after that last time I used it before I took that pic to see if it was spent but im not sure it that is to blame as I was also dehydrated. I don't get headaches often unless I catcha cold so I pay attention to what I was around that day.

Ohhh iv eheard good things of Dutch and its sibblings sounds nice :). Enjoy!

ETA: While im in here does anyone know what options I have for capping my stems? The only place ive seen them online thus far charges an arm and a leg on small order shipping. I went to a head shop and a hardware store today to see if I could fins anything no luck. It would be great to be able to pre-load and have it storage friendly not in the unit.

GenYHippie, upping the heat does indeed bring out sleepy compounds. I can't remember where abouts on the forum it was, but there is a thread detailing the heat ranges at which each compound is released and which effects to expect from them :)

well after messing around with it, got it to work! woo hoo!
Can you tell us what you did to get it working? A reset maybe.?
By your description of the fault, it sounded like the temperature sensor.
Your solution would be great information.
TIA
