the solo has arrived, and i used it right out the box (mistake?) i i loaded half a stem and didn't press the weed, i only have made like 3-4 puffs and then it stopped producing vapor, is something wrong w/ that?
now it has been chargin for an hour and the green light is blinking and the led displays 7 lights, it shouldn't take 4 hours to completely charge (when i stopped the session it was at 3) is my unit defective or am i doing something wrong? when it fully charges i'll give it another shot w/ more material and i'll see, any tips( other than, grind and pull slowly?) thnx

What heat levels were you using in your initial trial?

Grind: I find a fine grind works best for me. Some also use whole tiny nugs, some anywhere in between.

Charging: concensus is
* New Out of Box - Fully charge it till green light stops blinking and indicator is on level 7
* Maintenance - charge only till level reaches 7 but green charge light is still blinking (for longest battery life). And only charge when needed, not after each session. (I'm charging after each session religiously and will report back on battery life once it fails).
*Preheating may help. Allow one minute to expire after the heater reports reaching the target setting with stem loaded and inserted. (this tip mostly for the cloud chasers).

And lastly the herbs. I have had top shelf which stopped producing vapor after a 3rd draw or so and I've had mids that would produce vapor forever.... Try various strains...

Good Luck! Enjoy your Solo!

Rock on! How's this for stealth? :ninja:

Next to Stem for size reference. But yes, there's a Solo in there, Gong packed and ready to rock! Seen next pic for Gong peeking out.... ;)

Pic with Gong out... my favorite configuration, as at any time I can pop on the green cap for full stealth mode and a very decent amount of smell control (not that the Solo needs it)...

And one with Stem...

This is Genius. With a few tweaks it could be flawless. Im guessing there is something holding the solo in place like the Styrofoam in Menz cup. But a small window for temp control would put it over the top. Would kinda take away from the stealth of the thing but hey its a trade off. Temp control or stealth?

>just letting the air go through

The problem with the Solo is that it's not a forced-air vaporizer, it relies on you drawing on it to pull the heat to the herb. There's some amount of conduction vaporization going on (the glass stem heats the flower it touches) so if you want to finish the stem load without ever drawing through it you'll have to rely on the conduction vaping to do the work.

I am in no way saying you are wrong, but if this is the case then how does the potpourri dish work? Isnt the herb supposed to sit on top of the dish? Im guessing because heat rises, the herb in the dish gets roasted, which also would happen to herb packed in a stem.

Thanks Haymaker94, no Styrofoam yet. The cup is small enough that the Solo almost fills it completely. I am going to craft a support piece like Menz just to solidify things further (plus to cover the light from the LEDs at night).

I'm considering buying a Solo but use small/micro loads. I would estimate that 1/4 of the filling capacity in the solo stems would be used for my needs.

How does the Solo perform with micro loads?

I would add a few glass daisies/flowers or beads first then add my micro load to the stem.

Thoughts?

I'm on standby for the release of the Grasshoper & miVape, but the Solo sounds like an excellent vape to have in your collection.

Here is my exp. I dont like filling up my stem with other stuff(glass flower etc.) because i feel it reduces performance. The domed screen is more efficient. I even use a 3/4'' domed screen in a shorty pvhes to get about 60mg lightly packed close to the heat source.

In my humble opinion, it doesn't work ;)

It seems to be a 1 for 1 match of accessory with the Extreme-Q with it's potpourri dish, but that one actually moves air through it (and the EQ has a fan).

Honestly, I haven't actually TRIED to use the one that came with the Solo, but it's been in a drawer since I got the thing for lack of reason ;)

Spoutti,
How many hits/temp setting/ etc are you getting from your 60mg dose before it's ABV?

Thanks for your time.

People who have been in this thread for awhile read the next post lol, im sure you are get tired of me saying it.

Small load in solo=GOOD TIMES

Seriously the solo can be loaded with such a little amount a typical scale wont pick it up. I had to buy a mg scale to weigh. Loading 40mg is very enjoyable (start at 3ish and go up a notch at a time). 40mg for reference is probably like 5mm tall, barely enough to cover the whole circumference of the stem.

Quick question to all you solo users. Here is a pick of what I unloaded today - - ive been using it on level two for about 7 hits. Is this considered spent or should I up the temp? Im afraid of it getting to harsh but I wont want to waste. Right now I put it in a baggie to save for ABV salve but wanted to check with more experienced users. Its Jack Herer Strain (THC 10.25 CBD 0.32) if that makes a difference. Side by side ABV is loose fresh grind is in the baggie.

I would say , yes , lots more goodies left to be extracted .
Go up to 3 and 4 .
I do 5 and 6 dry .
Level 7 thru water gear , or it's a little harsh for me .
But try it for yourself , to each his own .

Usually i start str8 at 5 for a bit under 12min. But thats personnal results wich has lots of factors, like for one i vape outside in cold canadian weather. Small amounts with domed screen seems the most efficient way to spent my loads

never mind 113 looks to work well?
Make sure its high temp

SOLO Vaporized Cannabis is my Best Medicine
There is something strange about my warranty replacement Solo. I can not get it to operate in PA mode. I have used two of my tried and trusty PS2 power supplies that ran my old Solo for almost a year without any problems, but neither will allow the Solo to operate in purely PA run mode. When either plug is inserted the Solo immediately goes into charge mode. Of course the run while charging mode works, but I would like to extend the battery life if possible. Both of these power supplies read out at 8.8 V positive polarity at 5.65amps. I tried two more power supplies one read 9.1 V and the other 10V. Same deal with these as well. Any opinions?
This new M1D2 Solo works much better than my first, so I'll be keeping it whatever the outcome.

This is the first report that I have read of this condition. Hopefully there has not been another change removing the true PA option.
IMO, you should contact your supplier to see if any news has come down on this as you already have a working PA system and want to use it.

Do what Dave say's!

MEDICATION DEVICE = SOLO

I go for flavor.
The problem I have with the higher heat settings is the burnt popcorn over tones.

If you can get nice results from 2 GOD BLESS you!

I use 3 dry and 4 wet.
However I start drawing vapor at level 2.

Thanks for the input. I suspected it was getting close to done yesterday when it stopped makng any visable vapor but today it didn't really have any effect on level 2 anymore. It doesn't take like popcorn yet so I may try it up a level or two for kicks. The jack is very piney little bit earthy not my favorite but better than the way strawberry kough smells ick :p. Ive only been vaping a week so im sure as time goes on I will get to higher levels right now my tolerance is very low

Need some advice from those more experienced on how to be most efficient with my Solo use. I typically medicate just before bed to help calm down from the grind of the day. That said, with a full shorty PVES stem I only need 3-4 draws on level 4 dry to do the trick. However, I don't know what to do w/ the remainder.

After my 3-4 draws should I just shut the Solo down and leave everything in there until next time (sometimes a week or so goes by between sessions), should I keep a separate container for 'half used' product, or what?

Thanks!

Question regarding a scratched oven... for background, I had a solo a month ago that wasn't heating up enough. I sent in for warranty and got a new replacement. I have been using the PVHES GonG exclusively with this (used several times in the old unit with no scratching) and noticed that it has scratched a ring into my solo oven. Any ideas how that happened? The GonG doesn't seem rough on the edges at all...

One thing I notice is that even with the o-ring added the stem still wiggles a lot inside, not sure if that has anything to do with it... If it's not big deal that's fine but not sure if i'm inhaling anything coming off the scratched surface.

Here is a pic of the oven and a pic of the pvhes gong (also to show how dirty it is with regards to my smell question earlier)

It looks more like resin stains , rather than scratches .
Resin stains can be cleaned .
I use a lightly soak iso/qtip and old fine screen .
Insert the screen in the oven first , then the iso/qtip .
Do a swirling/mopping motion on the screen .
It works like a charm .
