    Salutations everbody,

Here's some piece of information which might be interesting to put in perspective with other recent developments:

Wow, talk about a way to undermine the black market while promoting healthier habits!... It's difficult to see the light when one reads about prices going up then about a former Microsoft manager turning into an instant pro-cannabic activist smoker who started Diego Pellicer Inc., claiming he wants to import cannabis through the Mexican border lines, eventually, euh... And then this.

That's really fucked up. Why is the state liquor board controlling and growing medicine?
Oh yeah medicine has to be poison to be profitable, just look at the phamacos.
No home growing, no competition with the state grow-op.
Who wrote this bill? Was the whole thing a charade, a pre-emptive strike by the assholes?
Hopefully democracy will sort this travesty out.

the black market will survive if the main pool is poisoned. that said I think this kind of awareness will also convert current growers practices too i hope. (ferts that stay in the plant and go into us for example.)

Ask yourself, is there a difference between allowing a use of a pesticide, and requiring it? Do you think organically grown produce is a challenge to sell in the state of Washington? Perhaps the entrepreneurs who will run recreational cannabis are unaware the public wants organic weed?

Yeah, I see one article by Steve Elliot on multiple sites, not a lot of hard data.

There's only a difference when competition is allowed. That is not the case here.
In fact you can't even grow at home under this law, so if you want to be legal no organic for you!

Well that sure is festive. Driving organic herb underground to the black market.

You'd think it was unpasteurized milk or something.....

There's going to to multiple independent store owners, who carry produce from multiple independent growers. Why would you assume that recreational cannabis stores wouldn't stock organic pot if there's a demand for it?

I mean, it is bullshit that recreational users can't grow their own. But medical patients can, that hasn't changed.

I'll pop by the nearest recreational store when it opens and purchase a gram of (overpriced no doubt) organic bud, and post pics here.

recreational users can grow their own, just dont get caught lol. just grow stealthy creating your own box with fans, carbon scrubber, and cfl if indoors. or just get the auto flowering plants, 2 months and a half to 3 months each plant harvest is around 15g+ if outdoors, indoors get like 25g+. super crop, scrogg techniques really increase the harvest weight by a good 5-10g extra. all that is really needed is around 150watt cfl for one plant for perfect results or can grow 2 under it, which will have 3-4g decrease in the harvest. so if 2 plants then each one will result in growing atleast 20g+

Doesn't the law mean that legal herb can only be sold at WSLCB-approved (state-licensed) stores,
and only grown by the growers that they approve of?

More than 2,600 aspiring pot growers apply for licensure in Washington state.
"Many in Washington state want a piece of the legalized pot action. Too many, in fact."

You're right, but they did change it last month:

"By the way, you’re not going to be allowed to grow your own, pesticide-free marijuana, because under I-502, no private home growing is allowed. And as the WSLCB told us again at their Nov. 13, 2013 meeting, they’re recommending that the right to grow — which Washington patients have had for 15 years now – be taken away, as well. [Editor update 12/13/13: The WSLCB is recommending patients be allowed to grow up to six plants.]"

Nothing changed last month. The state has given no indication that they plan on following any of the liquor board's recommendation regarding medical cannabis, over which they have no jurisdiction. 502 was worded explicitly to keep the two systems separate, and there has not been one shred of evidence that anyone plans one usurping the will of the voters (other than the liquor dicks).

[edit] Fukkit, I changed my mind. I know for a fact legal weed in Washington will be exposed to plutonium, and then double-dipped in cyanide. Our summers are brutally cold, with only 2 hrs of daylight. That's right... ALL POT TOURISTS SHOULD GO TO COLORADO!!!

Good, glad to hear that the article I quoted was wrong when it said:
"If you were expecting pesticide-free pot from the state stores, so much for that idea… and don’t even think about asking for “organic” cannabis, as there certainly won’t be any of that."

Will there be two different distribution systems for medical and recreational users?

That article is jumping to wild conclusions based on the facts. I consider that wrong. And yes there will be two systems.

Despite its flaws, one of the beauties of the Capitalistic system is that the customer has the power to decide these things. If there's a significantly higher customer demand for organic Cannabis and little demand for Cannabis that has been sprayed with pesticides, processed, etc. , the companies, whether public or private, will either adjust to customer needs or they will fail financially. As one particularly successful businessman said: "Give the lady what she wants."

One of the differences between the herb and other substances that make it so appealing is its very naturalness. No extra chemicals, no processing (aside from drying), no extra ingredients, are necessary for it to do what it does. I don't think I'm alone in this love of herb's naturalness. I think our numbers are many and WE will decide the market.

    @Crohnie, I hope you're right.
But WA couldn't even pass a bill that labels the genetically-modified poison in their food.

Also some people in my neck of the woods have been finishing their buds with a soda pop flush,
which makes them smell and taste artificially flavored.

Lots of groups ask for state agencies to make recommendations to the Legislature each and every year/session. Very very few of these recommendations actually make it into law. Almost none of them are made into law without changes.

Legislators are now, always have been, always will be, way, way more responsive to constituents than they are to agency recommendations.

Write your letters. Call. Join groups, sign petitions, and let YOUR legislator hear YOUR voice about keeping Medical completely separate and UNAFFECTED by recreational. YOU can have a lot more influence than the LCB does.

I already forwarded the text of that scare article to the folks that authored the recreational bill in our state, right after they turned in all the petitions to get it on the ballot. It was a pre-emptive strike!

Of course! You can always rely on the government to turn something as harmless as marijuana into a deadly product.

This sounds like morons who have heard half of an old story, w/ no clue how to apply. In the old days, certain skeezballs would spray the outside of dried flowers w/ pop (like 7up) to give that nice sparkly look.

Growing organically is typically more expensive, more time consuming and doesn't produce as high of yields. It takes more knowledge and more experience. These things do not go hand in hand w/ profit, mass scale production, highest possible yield, etc. The absolute simplest way to grow w/ huge yields is just to use miracle grow - well known to be irradiated.

I really have no idea why people are so surprised. Is this not exactly what you should expect when you hand over power to these guys? As far as demand creating policy, the demand, like everything else in this country, will be for the cheapest alternative. Walmart doesn't own the world because it makes such great products.

And when we start talking about how far over legislators bend for their constituents, I'm not seeing it. Which of our institutions are being run as most people would like? Schools? Medical? Prisons? Armed Forces? Energy? I guess I see something different than many others when I look around. Legislatures rely on and follow the advice of government agencies every day. But all that is just joining in pretending that the wslc has no real say. The wslc is in control of licensing, adopting rules, filing the cr103, implementing regulation and control as well as allowing regulators to reword the law as they see fit (distance from schools). When you sell your soul, you should know who to.

Of course they are trying to take grower rights away, this is business practices 101. This is why I have never supported any bill that does not contain exact language protecting grower rights. When our gov not only allows, but creates the environment necessary for sick people to suffer and die every day because they can't afford their meds, drs or procedures - how little do you think they care about you, the pot user?

edit: from a Tacoma paper: "The Liquor Control Board – which is charged with making I-502 work – has identified ways to eliminate dispensaries and return medical marijuana to what it was until a few years ago: a last-resort remedy for the relatively few severely ill people who can’t be treated effectively with conventional drugs. The board’s most important recommendation is that lawmakers tighten the issuing of the “green cards” that allow people to claim they are using marijuana for therapeutic reasons."

    Step 2, destroy medical program.

    Salutations everyone,

For all i know CzechYourHead was able to verbalize his concerns in quite a condensed form when he wrote about "bio" going to be made unavailable (legally) in that state. Anyway, there appears to be some excerpt of the list i was looking for previously, so here it is finally:

According to another source it looks like the most controversial products were rejected, at least initially:

« ...it seems to take a middle ground... The heavy hitting pesticides like Floramite, Avid, Eagle-20, etc. are not on the approved list. »

Though considering the present context one might still wonder about future updates.
