Dammit.

Got home last night, smelled burning electronics and figured out that my nitecore charger almost melted!

I'll have to order another one...so milaana usage will be low today.

Stay safe ya'll
Dude that's REALLY scary. So glad you're okay as well as your possessions!
Can you tell us where you purchased it? Did you verify the code? If not .. Can you try to verify now and let us know if yours is legit?
Sorry to hear that!

These incidents of glass coming unglued are becoming more and more discouraging. I would love to see an effective solution implemented since the recessing alone doesn't seem to be enough. That goes for both the Mi and Zion. The vape has only been around for a couple months and we've seen a lot of issues with that specific part. Impossible to gauge exactly what the percentage of units coming unglued is, but it seems way too high.

Mi Laana is dead... :( I had ordered early on and got a unit with the female bowl sticking out of the wood a bit. Today it was detached, fell on the floor and broke! :uhoh: Time for her to travel to her father for a revival! :)

My sympathies dude, and wishes for a quick return to RBT cloudage.
Thankfully VC has your back until then yeah? (I'm in love with both these vapes, they're far superior to the other few that I've tried - Aida, Inhalater 05, FM 3 air, Pax II)

Can I ask what the circumstances of your glass tragedy were?
This is an entirely self serving question, as I'd like to deliberately soften the glue of my Milaana in order to straighten the glass up from it's current 'leaning tower of piza' attitude.
Was your Mi particularly hot at the time?

It may not happen on the most recent batch, post QC delay, but there have definitely been recessed glass units coming unglued. Anyone with a brand new Mi notice significant differences with their female glass compared to those from the past couple months?

8 labels for shipping from RBT store to within the US were created today! Hopefully I will see a label created for my second MI later today or tomorrow also.
How do you know this? Do you have any way to see where they were being shipped?

justvapin,

Just so Dab HAppy!
RBT uses the same reference for all shipments within the US that ship through UPS so I can check and see if labels were created for the reference as well as locations and shipping status for any such labels I may find. Currently there are 8 labels that were created today. If you PM me with your city and state I can tell you if a label was created for you or not.

Another way to find out without me is to create an account with UPS.com and as soon as a label is created for your address, you will receive an email from UPS.

Considering that RBT hasn't been good with being speedy about warranty issues, you might want to consider buying a new edit: 19mm female joint and then gluing it back in yourself. Some other users have done that.

:D

That won't work.....the Milaana is based on 19mm glass

It will work great if you have the 19mm female glass piece replacement! Thanks for catching that @GTAVaper.

Does anyone know if you can buy a 19mm female glass part anywhere? I thought I read someone had done that.

Had a button scare.... no power. Had to press hard to get juice. Seems to have self corrected. In the meantime I got an Apollo that I forgot I ordered, and an UD, which is my insurance vape ( which I love).

Played a lot with both awesome Vapes.

I own ALL great Vapes, including my trustee AA, but hands down, for various and multiple reasons, MiMi rules.

Now only if I could get Mi up and running. I disassembled and reassembled 3x, still not enough power. Can't figure out how to increase heat in glass. I'd appreciate any suggestions. In the meantime, the old girl is spare parts.

Also, anyone have insight on what's up with button, not happy about having to press hard. Is there a way to remove from xterior and check/clean contacts? Any suggestions on a quick fix here my fellow Milaana lovers?

If you are in the USA you can get female joints (that you will have to cut down carefully with a dremel) at:

http://www.mountainglass.com/Products/GLASS-GROUND-JOINTS/

.....which is based in North Carolina

I believe that the Chinese joints are the ones that are US sized (or very close to standard medium US sizing).....although if you wanted to order another joint you might be able to convert the glass to ISO.....but then you might also have to reposition the heater lower.....and I'm not sure if there is room to do that in the cutout. So it's probably better to stick with US (or close to US sizing).....and order some Chinese male end joints to match your new female.....they even have coloured Chinese stems - if you are so inclined.

If you are in Canada......most of the same glass stock is available at:

http://artistryinglass.on.ca/GROUND-GLASS-JOINTS/

....which is based in London, Ontario.

@WakeAndVape any reason why it would do that?
Not sure...it was left plugged in with a battery inserted.

Noticed an electronic burn smell and realized it wasn't responding, turned it over and the plastic was deformed slightly and the charger was really hot?

There are counterfeit Nitecore chargers out there. That is why the package now has a scratch code. http://charger.nitecore.com/counterfeit-alert-to-nitecore-charger-buyers

Watch out for too cheap, just like batteries.
Got mine from amazon...it is sticker free!

Probably a fake. Two slot digital charger for $15?

Luckily I got an authentic (al least I hope) nitecore 4 slot for $32 locally.

They had it improperly marked, so I saved $8

Thanks man! I'll probably contact the seller on amazon for clarification of its authenticity and report back!

Yeah don't let batteries charge unattended, that's the rule. Even with top end chargers and cells bad stuff can and will happen, counterfeit or not.

That is the one thing that I love about my SkyRC MC3000.....it actually has thermocouples for each slot that measure the battery temperature and which shuts the charger down if any battery gets too hot.

But even so, I wouldn't leave something charging in there and leave the house for an extended period of time

Yeah anytime I go to sleep or I have to leave the house, I always unplug the thing when it's charging. Saw too many reports of people having lost their car, or their entire garage, or worse their house with all their life inside, due to charging problems.

But I like it!
An old machinist/RC airplane guy has his chargers inside ammo cans, with the lid loosely closed, sitting on concrete away from flammables. LiFePo I believe he said... My chargers sit on an old baking sheet, away from things that might burn...
